Yes yes, you know how this works! There's no longer a winner or anything, and I will try to comment on all of them, and at the end show the original text version. You can edit bubble shapes and whatever else about the comic, but try to do only text versions before it all degenerates into slapping penises on grandpa's face or whatnot.

Funny is appreciated. Well-done is appreciated. Well-done and funny will make me hug my cat!

Let's begin with obvious text and clumsy hand (well, mouse) lettering.

I missed this activity, I really did! :D
Here's my go!

Hehe I'm glad you're all enjoying the fifth panel fast-retort-mode. Fuzz I really like yours, and it sets a trend of people making the child into an ASSHOLE. Pesty's probably the most assholeish so far. The panel 7 closeup in hers is just creepy!
I liked how Vesper used the santa claus thing, he'll find the original text funny when I post it.

Sorry about the heavy modification. Maybe I'll do a proper one later.

How could I resist? ;D

My attempt:

This comp. won't be the same without biothlebop.

I decided to buck the trend from the kid being an asshole to just stupid.

Strange comic to work with. I went for the mysterious, melodramatic approach. it really doesn't make any sense, but shhh! You don't know that!
Gore, I really like your entry! For panel manipulation, it's subtle and works well.
Steve, your first one didn't do much for me, but the second was one of my favourites so far. The meta-humour thing is a bit overdone on the internets, but that panel where the ship parts talk about themselves is hilarious. Generally, great entries so far!
MrFibble: I'm sorry you couldn't resist a movie reference.
Squinky: hehe when you see the original, you'll be surprised too. I enjoy it mostly, though I stronly object to stuff like 'WTF' or 'LOL' making it in comics. Internetspeak needs to die, much less sneak into art.
Steve, I agree biothlebop better start making appearances!
Limpingfish, nice entry, again close to the original as you'll eventually see. I see a lot of people interpret the very last bubble as being the words of the evaporating grandpa, whereas it was supposed to be the child screaming out something.
Also if some of you people have problems with the grandpa dissapearing in the second to last panel, just edit it out. I know it fucks up with a lot of could-be scripts, so don't be afraid to alter stuff to make it work.
Progz, enjoyable entry. The subjectivity of existence is the actual theme from the original comic, so I guess it carries through a bit even without the text.
Strange Visitor: nice visual-textual play on the 'watch your mouth panel'.
[lgm], it reads well but it doesn't make sense.
Thank you everybody that has participated so far! This is a great turnout.
I just want to apologize to everyone, everywhere for this-
But...

Helm, I edited some panels. It makes a bit more sense if you think about it.
In panel six, I have no idea in which order the bubbles are supposed to be read. I think I got it the wrong way around. Oh well.

Fun comp.
Heres my bash.

heh, nice one stupot
Plane crazy!! LOL. Nice comic Helm! Nice rendition Fuzzpilz :D I wanted a go too, a lot of funny ideas have been used. So I just did a boring one :D Why the hell does he morph half way through? hehehe :) Definitely a competition I'll enter more often!!

I feel ashamed for not having any humour in this, but at least I took the time in starting to spoil the great art that it was :)

Got bored though on the way.

Is there anything that Star Wars doesn't apply to?

Awesome.
Vince Twelve just shows how a large number of panels can be left without text, and without anything special happening, to enhance the humourous effect when minimal text finally appears at the very very end. Bravo!
Great entries everyone, truly AWSMOE!!!ONE!
Old and worn:

I got lazy... *yawn*
This is a great comic to do the captions for but I have a couple of questions about it.
First, in the last frame, the old man has vapourized, so that speech bubble should be coming from the kid or is it?
Next, the question that has plagued many a scholar, why do the old man's hat and goggles fade away but not his jacket of scarf?
Finally, what is actually going on in this scene? I'm sure that this is part of some series of strips but how do we get to the point of one guy turning into the ghost of Xmas past or revealing he's a hologram or whatever?
Ahaha Steve, oh man! I like that one probably more than the original. It's funny, sad, and well-done. You make me hug my cat.
SmootH: yes, the bubble is coming from the kid.
About the goggles, they're more closely linked to one's prime physical plane presense, both due to how tight they're on the skin and also because they much people connect with their goggles. A scarf is a scarf, but goggles are forever.

Steve, steve, steve, love that last comic of yours. Loveitloveitloveit.
Nice one Vince Twelve, that made me laugh!
I concur. Steve, that was a masterpiece of storytelling.
here is my try i wish i had the time to paint the whole thing. But work caught up with me and told me i didnt have the time

A red cross? It's original, I'll give you that.
Here's my second attempt.
Dunno why I bothered really, hehe

When it's down to knock-knock jokes it's pretty clear that the thread has exhausted itself. Here's the original.
"I'm glad to see you again grandpa!"
"Me too son." "Your grandma okay?"
"At first she was really sad, but now she's feeling better... kinda."
"Good. Are you doing well in school? "Yes grandpa." "Do you eat your food?" "Yes gradpa." "Do you love grandpa?" "Yes!"
"Good..." "Good."
"Grandpa, where did you get the airplane?"
"I stole it from the military museum!"
"But.. these aren't supposed to even work?! Is this loaded? With what fuel?"
"It's running on the power of denial!"
"But grandpa... this is impossible."
"Grandpaaaaaa!"
Sorry for killing the thread :-[
You gonna announce a winner Helm?
Or give us another one to work on?
Quote from: Helm on Sat 17/03/2007 18:37:05
There's no longer a winner or anything, and I will try to comment on all of them, and at the end show the original text version.
Steve's the only one who made me hug my cat. But yes, there's no winner.
Next Fill In The Comic activity (at least, Helm's ) in 6 months or so.
im still having fun coloring it bit by bit hehehe
Could you give us a version with english text in the balloons, please? Reading the text separate from the images rather kills the whole thing.

are you still having trouble seeing mine? im wondering if my sites working properly
No, I can see it now. But I'll leave the message for posterity and prosperity.

I know i'm too late for the party but I don't care.

I wish this activity would be held every week or so. But I understand that drawing these comics is much work, but it's just so much fun! :D
I'm sure it would lose most of the fun if it was weekly.
