Ummm.... I'm think ing the rules for this week should be:

Make up a sprite of you're favorite comic or cartoon character, in your style.

250x250 max res
256 color limit

Forgive me if this is lame, I just thought it would be fun...

Pesty

This isn't a lame topic. I had fun making a sprite of Psylocke!

Well, I'm not so sure this qualifies as an actual sprite (nor is it drawn in "my style" since I'm not sure I have one that can be qualified as anything but "messy"), but my GOSH I felt compelled to draw it anyway. This is of course, Sam Kieth's MAXX. And if you've not read the series or at least seen the cartoons, then do yourself a favor and find a way to do so. The series is out in trade paperbacks, even, so they shouldn't be terribly hard to find.

...Yup. I'm a geek.

EDIT: Uploaded the right version.

SpacePirateCaine

Well, I'm not sure if it counts or not, but I thought I'd enter my sprite as well. You might (or might not, who knows about these things?) recognize him also as my avatar.

SpacePirateCaine from my own comic, "Something to do with Life!"

At present, StdWL! is unpublished, but it is a comic, so I hope it doesn't get me disqualified.
Check out MonstroCity! | Level 0 NPCs on YouTube! | Life's far too short to be pessimistic.

Sweet entrys, and yes Caine, any comic works, even your own unpublished stuff. What the hell right?

Psylocke kicks it, and maxx rocks also. I remember, I bought issue #1 and a few other s of that comic back in the day, and I watched it on Mtv for a bit.....good times, if I remember right it had this kinda fake reality thing going on....

Yeah, the Maxx was a sort of spiritual guide to another character, Julie Winters, and he's sort of travel into a place inside her mind that was dubbed "the Outback". It was Australia-ish, only with all kinds of bizzare creature in it (that weren't even marsupials  ::) ) . While in "the Outback", Maxx was a bit wilder and possed superhuman strength, but in the real world, Maxx was naught more than a big guy in a purple costume that wore a weird mask (that he was worried was alive).

It may not sound like it, but the whole thing was incredibly cool.

Here's my take on Hellboy. It took me about 2 hours to complete.
14 colors, 2x zoom

Wow!
You guys can draw really good.

Awesome.  ;D

It never occured to me before now, but I wonder if Tintin and Conan O'Brien are related...  ::)

And how cool is it that both of them are great! Cooincidence? I think not!

The sprites are lookin' really good! Not a lame topic indeed.

Hot damn, BB.

I second that. That is one of the best sprites I have ever seen. Ever.

TheYak

Looking a touch more twisted than usual:

250x250, paint.net.

Not a good way to follow up BigBro.

It's hard not to get discouraged after BB's Hellboy...

Well, here's my entry:

2x, 8 colors

Edit:

2x, 14 colors

Aaight, much better. I didn't remove the 1st one for reference.
Thanks for the advice, guys!

Khrismuc: Add some weblines and put a few more shades of colour in and that'd be really good.

I'm not so sure about the weblines, the sprite is only about 100x100 so it's quite hard to keep them thin and apart from eachother. Maybe I'll have a go at it and post an update.

I kept the color count low on purpose, maybe I'll add more shading, too, but don't count on it.

You might also want to use less saturated colours...

Khris

I posted an updated version of my sprite, check my 1st post.

Chicky

heh, critics lounge anyone?

I prefer the first, high saturation version. Looks more like the comic book version :P

This is Marv (AKA Violent Marv) from Frank Miller's Sin City (movie coming out April 1st! Yay!)

I might've made him a bit too orange. Colourblindness is no fun, ladies and gentlemen.

Edit: Yes. He is the guy in my avatar.
