Well, I'm not nearly as far as I'd like.
At this point, I think I might just kill off all my characters.

Story: 100%
Backgrounds/Animations: 50%  (yikes)
Scripting: 50%
Puzzles: 85%
Music: Probably none.
Sound/Voice: 50%

I need to kick it up a notch this weekend. I should have the sound done at least.
It's just those darn animations that take soooo long to do. But they sure are fun :D

I am working on something for this.

If I complete a game, it'll be my first one ever. I just starting using ags about a week ago. But despite that, it's coming along and I just might have something.

It's not going to be "good" by most measurements but maybe good for a brand-spanking noob like myself working alone. Anyway here is the screenshot of the first room. I have two other rooms completed and am currently working on my forth one.

LOL! Got to remember this, that's an excellent strategy for completing a MAGS game :D

I LOVE this animation: simple yet very effective. :)

Spoiler
Just wanted to ask one thing: Why does the chair behind the right shoulder of lady 'grow' when she dies?

Hey HanaIndiana, if you manage to explode all your characters and you want some music for it, I'd be happy to pitch in if you'd like, just let me know.
(not sure if "Music: Probably none" meant none required, or none available ;)

@Adeel: Because its Mags and I need to move on... no wait, MAGIC!

@Emont: Haha! I meant 'none available'. Some explode music would be a nice addition I think, if you are offering. I'll PM you the scenarios and you can let me know what music might be possible. :)

Radiant

Well, I had some nice ideas for a game on reincarnation, but not enough time this month to do anything MAGS'y. We'll see about March.

Ah, I see. Btw, don't get me wrong, I weren't criticizing you or anything. I can't even draw and/or animate half of what you did. I were just curious, actually. :)

HanaIndiana

No worries! Glad you like it. I find pixelated low-res death scenes to be quite hilarious. Plus laughing at death keeps the reaper away. Hey, there's a possible Mags idea for this month. Come on people, still a whole week left!

Billbis

I'm still on, making some progress, but there still a long way to go.
I have 4 of my 5 rooms, but I am still laking several crucial characters and animations. We plan to record the music this week-end.
Here's another screenshot for you:

Happy crunch time to all the other participants!

Atavismus

Thx for those progress reports guys!
Billbis, I love your style!
I can't wait to play your game ;)

ArgyBoi

I made some progress, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna make the deadline.

Looking forward to these games. Can't wait to play them all!

Billbis and JuaniT both of your games look like they are going to be good. One of you is probably going to win this. I'm entering mainly to get myself accustomed to ags, I don't think I have much chance at winning though.

By the way, can the people who enter vote? I'm not necessarily going to vote for myself, just so you know. I'm going to vote for the one that I honestly believe is better.

Yep, of course - apart from being impossible to tell anyway, if people can vote for themselves in elections they can for MAGS (laugh) The only issue I can see is where an entry has multiple authors, so an advantage assuming everybody votes for themselves. But I think that's all theoretical!

Hey, thanks for your kind words, but IMHO the visuals are not the most important aspect of a game (specially if we are talking about Adventure Games :-D), so don't rush your desition before playing all the entries.
On voting yourself: I don't understand why somebody would vote himself in a competition such as MAGS, I think the main goal of MAGS is encouraging people to design and finish a complete game in a month (this is specially usefull for people who have the bad habit of abandoning projects easily, like me , because you have "a reason" to finish it, and sharing your progress with the others participants make you feel that you are not alone in your effort). So "winning" MAGS for me is making the deadline, I don't see the reason to "vote yourself".

HanaIndiana

^ I agree. Finishing something is the best part I think. And I like the motivation and inspiration I get watching everyones progress.
It would feel weird voting for myself. I suppose I might if I couldn't stand any other game. :) But the odds of that happening are slim.

You made the biggest part and your game looks great: you have to submit your entry!!! :)
There is always a way to shorten stuffs without changing the substance ;)

About voting for yourself:
In politic, you can vote for yourself, so why not here?
Of course, if you prefer another entry than yours, don't vote for yourself, but otherwise, imo, no shame, no false modesty.

Good luck you all!

QuoteIn politic, you can vote for yourself, so why not here?

Well, I don't think this is theoretical at all! It is quite pragmatical: voting for yourself in "politics" is a symbolic act with no statistical relevance. Candidates vote for themselves just to assure the confidence in their campaigns. But in council decisions, voting for yourself is prohibited, for obvious reasons. In the case of this community, allowing the candidates to vote for themselves has a significant result: it gives some advantage to the proud ones, who always think they are best, and some disadvantage to the humble ones. I don't think voting for yourself should be encouraged in this case. Disallowing candidates to vote for themselves is a common measure to minimize this.

Another problem in this kind of competition is that people tend to vote because they like the author, not necessarily the work. Influential people, or people with more friends, will get better results.
