I got my act together and came up with the rules.
Given that Mittens will be held this month, MAGS should probably be somehow based on the AGS community itself.
Therefore, the only rule is that all MAGS entries must include an "illustrious" member of the AGS community as the main player. The topic is free, although Mittens is probably the most suitable environment.
I think you should state whether or not it is mittens based or not, don;t be so sketchy round the edges, i was hoping you would send me the guidlines before hand so I could read over them, but they seem fine, my only critique is that you should be less vague, either you want mittens or you dont, or another theme, also could you perhaps outline what is meant by "an 'illustrious' member of the AGS community" as it may help people.
I think he made it pretty clear... it's gotta be about a prominant ags member- one who most of the forums would know and/or recognise- and it can be about MAGS but doesn't have to be.
Hmm... Not very fond of these community-based games... Too many of these already. Just my opinion though. Won't enter this month, however. Hmm, how am I then going to come around and make something...?
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of "in-jokey" games either. But who knows? I might enter. The last time I said I wouldn't enter I ended up entering.

"Illustrious" is just a general term which I intended to comprehend all members of the AGS community, that is, the game can be made about anyone.

Hi. I was thinking of making one for this month but:
1) can the illustrious member be yourself?
or, failing that
2) can he be a amalgamtion of characteristics of several different community members?
I ask because I'm not entirely comfortable just picking a name off the boards and making a game about him.
I reckon it's ok if you're the main character, especially if you don't feel comfortable making a game about somebody else.
I couldn't tell you if mixing characters is ok. It depends on what you do, I suppose. If you made something like AGS-Man - a single character with recognisable features of various members of the community, that could turn out as an excellent entry.
Instead, if you mix a couple of members nobody knows much about, then your character will be hardly recognisable, and thus you wouldn't be playing by the rules.
It's up to you. In the end, votes will decide.

heres a few shots from my MAGS game, based on Trapezoid's kittie cam thread, your quest is to save 3 kittens which have escaped, and don't really want to go back to mummy puss!
as you can see the scaling wants some work, and to get rid of the white halo i seem to get cursed with every time! amazingly i've done the script side with the help of a few members, thanks ;D
my first game with sound, featuring "love cats" from "the cure" (who the feck are they?!, i can hear the young uns say,lol) plus sound effects from kittens to chainsaws :-\, also creditz, and a intro, the main character is from eric's tutorial , with trap's av. image, if i have time i'll expand on that as well
its probably going to be a bit easy to do, but what the hell. i like it, i'll do some final tweaking and it'll be on display for all to see early next week ;D

As Magintz is having fun at Mittens at the moment it is on me now to say "voting is over" :)
