MAGS March “LGBTQ” (RESULT)

Coming along, with most of the graphics complete (I leaned pretty hard into the stick-figure style. It seemed to fit with the specific sub-theme of my game). Still a lot of gameplay coding to work on, but about a third of the mechanics are in place. I put in some humorous music by Eric Matyas to accentuate tone, as well.

Well, I did it--the game is fully playable. Still need to fix some GUI issues, add another ending, and then get some playtesters. But I recommend the one-room one-week approach to anyone having trouble getting started. It forces you to get something done and then leaves you with time to refine it before the real deadline. Can't wait to see what other entries we get!

OK, the game is "finished." I've had one person playtest it, but have since made changes and would love to have another tester try it before I submit it to MAGS and add it to the AGS database. If anyone's interested, please DM me. Thank you!

I have an idea but the idea I have is kinda too big - but I may start taking this approach myself, because I have tons of ideas and it's hard to make something bigger while also working on MAGS. So maybe I'll try and dedicate 1 week to MAGS and then the rest of the month to do whatever else.

I have never felt so seen as with some of the takes on clothing in the game, particularly the one about the unisex shoes being immune to gendering and wishing you could be as well almost got me teary. Maybe because I'm the target audience.

As part of it, I thought about doing something. Unfortunately, the city where I live was hit by a severe rainstorm with major flooding. But I'll be happy to play this month's entries (I'm trying out the game of RootBound).

I think i shoot myself in the foot thinking that making a game in only one room should be fast. At least all of the gameplay part is done and I just need to finish the art, music and writing. I think im gonna make it through before the deadline but there might be some placeholder art in there hehe.

The podcast I've been listening to the past few days has made me contemplate a game. But I'm kind of afraid of it being too much like a low quality Wadjet Eye wannabe game.

Despite the bluntness of the title (which is not misrepresentative of the content), I did strive to present a story about two people in love who are openly talking about taking the next big step in their relationship. The overall aim of the game is also educational, including some honest and open information about the topic.

Cheers, guys. The website kept giving me an error message every time I hit upload, so I assumed it hadn't worked. Eventually gave up.  I will look into it in a bit.

Interesting concept. I never thought about how difficult but personally important it can be to wear clothes that express a gender (or not). There was a time while at university where I was mostly wearing sneakers, sweater and cargo pants (neutral on my page!) but I've never considered myself anything but female. I really hope that one day we can get rid of this gender nonsense and people can just dress the way they want and live the way they want.

The name says it all - it is indeed educational, but there is hardly any gameplay. I like the dialog between the two guys but I'm irritated that one of them just gave the guy with STD a blow job without a condom.

Weaving Time

An interesting way to tell a story, but I couldn't get into it. I didn't really care for the protagonist. Did the clothes choices do any difference?
I find it a bit strange that in a year long relationship they have never been not seeing each other for a few days and now the protagonist feels insecure and sad. Probably the business trip was a good thing for their personal development.

As others have said, it was more an educational dialog than a game, but I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do.

This feels like a well-realized simulator, with the simple added option of different gender presentation each day. I wanted this to make more of a difference (for example, do you not get blamed for the problem at work if you're in masc mode?) but it seems that the overall mood level is all that makes a difference (unless I missed something).

On the other hand, to have a variance in gender presentation simply be a normalized part of everyday life is perhaps just as valuable.

Also, the first time the mood went to 200%, it warmed my heart.

A bug: the game crashed when I started a new game after finishing it once. "Invalid overlay ID"

Cheers for the feedback, mate! The bit about him having an STD was supposed to be him joking. Part of his personality is supposed to be a tendancy for shock/gross-humor. He doesn't really have a disease, but perhaps that was not obvious from the text. I will see if this was an issue for others and make an edit after the contest, if so. Because, yeah, ICK!

Burn Down the Closet by Rootbound:

I played this alone and together with my daughter. The stick man person graphics make sense in the context, and there are plenty of details in the clothes and accessories. I played through to see all the endings, enjoyed the writing and humour, and hopefully gained some insights.

Very well written, short dialogue. I think it may work well as an educational game/activity. I liked the quiz type approach and the funny, joking style of talking between the two guys. I did not think the one guy had a disease - I thought it a joke along with the grooming comments.

I like the idea and the graphics for expressing moods. I also liked the random events, like channel surfing and doom scrolling. Basically, I tried to get a high score on my first playthrough, then tried to do everything wrong on the second one. But even when skipping every meal, cleaning at every opportunity, taking no naps, binge watching Supernatural after hearing spoilers and wearing a dress every time the game allowed me to, the character still functioned normally through the days. It's hard to say if this was due to time restraints, or if it's intentional, telling the player not to worry too much. The scripted ending was very cute. I would have liked to not have to walk so much, although I may be in a minority here. I found little or no difference in mood points when changing clothes.
