I guess I'll be doing this this week, then. So.
Let's do something fairly open... a man is walking down a street, staring at the ground before him in order to avoid stepping on snails. What's the music playing in his head?
I'm writing my entry right now...
But I'm scared of being alone. Please other people make entries, too! :-[
Hello all. Here's my attempt. This composition has a gamish quality. It's repetitive and slightly annoying, yet catchy. I call it.....SNAILS
It's a MIDI so depending on your sound card it may sound bad. Hopefully, everyone here has a good synth on their computer.
Here's the link...

so what is this man like? is he looking at the ground because hes sad? or does he have OCD and nervous all the time about stepping on things? whatev, I'll say he is a germ freak. im entering
Here's my entry. It didn't turn out quite as I expected it to, but meh... here it is anyway.

I had an afternoon free. :)
Both of these entries are good. You've got some neat toys there, Geoffkhan!
I use Finale to create my little compositions.
Hey, Erenan, how'd you achieve such complex rhythms?

Neat, and not to mention free, too. The orchestra stuff is mainly off of sf2midi.com
Geoffkhan, that... is beautiful.
Now every time i am on a sidewalk i will have this song in my head.

My composition professor uses Finale, though I'm strictly a Sibelius user. ;)
The rhythms? I just go into the program and start clicking away on a drum track, tinkering and tinkering and tinkering until I have something I'm happy with.
Eek. I do apologise about this, I was in Russia. Shame about what happened.
However, I won't sidetrack teh music. I might even enter, it's a good theme.
Hmmm.

I don't know...
Oz, that's goddammed beautiful.
I wouldn't personally associate it with snails, mind. More like a CC-esque game.
Sorry for not posting again earlier - was home over the weekend. Good to hear you're not annoyed at being displaced, Flippy. And nice entries so far... looking forward to the rest. ;)

Ah yes. I wasn't sure where I was going with this one. The outcome doesn't coincide with the original idea I had in mind for the composition, hence my reluctance to entering. I lost control over it. Oh well... ;)
What kind of file is .ogg?
Ogg. In this case, as in most, with Vorbis in it. It's a lossy audio compression thingy, sort of like MP3, only better in some ways. Good media players can open it, get one. :)
I'm participating. This time I'm absolutely sure that I'll also finish, which is lovely for a change. I'll listen to everyone else when I'm done.
Hm, my "song" is rather short (because I don't have the time to expand it in the next two days) and has many loops in it; but that's the only way I can compose music. It's done in Reason and is packed with WinRAR.

Okay, I'm done.

It turned out rather differently from what I expected at first. Only the main theme is a direct product of association from the snail concept, and I slowed it down somewhat once I saw where it was heading, so the snails are hardly noticable anymore... Oh well.
Anyway, if you just want to listen, please please please grab the ogg, because the mid sounds awful with most standard soundcard banks. The mid is mainly for those who want to see what it looks like... and, of course, those with computers from the 80's.
I really wish I had a decent MIDI keyboard with a mod wheel. :-\ Drawing expression with the mouse is horrible, as you'll hear, but try to ignore that.
[edit: Yay, second page!]
Yay, an entry from Eldkatt! I remember a long time ago when the music compositions were really big and there were always raging arguments and stuff.

27th... ???
Whoops! Sorry.
Excellent entries all around - but since I'm late, I'll make this short. Winner: Oz! Congratulations.
