TUNE CONTEST JANUARY 25TH TO FEBRUARY 1ST.
Theme: Goodnight and sleep well.
You know like...when...y'know the bit in Japanese RPGs when your character arrives at an inn and the...dude...behind the counter says "100 Gil to stay the night", or something, and you pay and the screen fades to black, and you hear this...um...little jingle, like...
This (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/CT_Goodnight.mid)
or
This (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/FFIV_-_Goodnight.mid)
or
This (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sony/ps1/Breath_of_Fire_III_Sleep_DW.mid)
That's what I want.
There are no restrictions. I doesn't have to sound like the above examples, but it should be short and sweet. Literally.
Entries will be judged on their ability to make me feel drowsy (a good thing in this case).
BEGIN!
EDIT: Sorry, but if you want to listen to the examples I've linked to you'll have to cut and paste the url into your browser :(
Hmm, I guess I could write and record yet another lullaby :D if not for the game then just for the laughs! ;)
A very short one:
Going To Sleep (http://www.gwebspace.de/hassu-irc/andere/GoingToSleep.mid)
cheers
nihilyst
I said I'd have a bash at the next tune contest.

Can we enter as many times as we like or is it limited to one per person?

You can submit as many tunes as you want, but only one can be considered your official entry. Whichever one you choose is up to you.

may fit some kind nautical (or french...) rpg
My computer doesn't recognise .ogg files.
What do I need to do to be able to hear these tunes?
a recent version of winamp should do it, or there's VLC Media Player (www.videolan.org)
Two more great entries. :)
Alright, the snooze button on this comp will be pressed at exactly 11.55pm (gmt) tonight with the results posted sometime after 12.00am (gmt).
So any oversleepers have just over four hours left to dream up some entries.
(How far can I take these sleep analogies? Find out at midnight.)
well, just in time to participate in this contest...
just introduced myself in the newbie section, read this post, whipped up a tune and posted it within the limit!
Here's something called Late again (http://twinmoon.freehostia.com/Christiaan%20-%20Late%20again.ogg)
Never played any Japanese RPGs, probably never will since I can't stand RPG's (can't even stand RPG/adventure hybrids) but I think this should meet the requirements.
well, since it is late, goodnight to y'all.
Okay then, SIX entries in total. :)
HOTDOG! THE WIENERS ARE AS FOLLOWS!
1st: Inkoddi
2nd: Nihilyst
3rd: Stupot and Twin Moon (I couldn't decide :P)
Special mention for ProgZMax's tune that would have rated much higher, but for the fact that somebody might complain about it. Homages can be tricky things. Therefore I'll er on the side of caution. ::)
Special mention also goes to BOYD's tune, and to the fact that it scared the bejesus out of me. Spooky clowns creeping towards my bed as I sleep! NOOOOO!
Great work by all as usual. Roll on the next contest! :)
But but but... it's only 31st Jan...
I doubt if there will be more entries though.
Ooh oh oh. Hooray for acoustic instruments!
I'll start a new one as soon as my preparations are complete.
and congratulations! well deserved
(I would have used real instruments too if i had time & talent)

Doh! My bad. 30 days has...something...april...something...and....something...ber.
...
I knew not learning that rhyme would be my undoing. >:(
Anyhoo, the results stand. Now I'm off to buy a calendar.
