Ok, so the other day, I was running from the police, and I had a thought. What do you think the police force will look like in 20 years? 100 years?

Will they ride speeder bikes like SW stormtroopers or will they ride Keystone Kops bicycles? Will they wear armor like Robocop's or like the primates wore in Planet of the Apes? Will they be the officers of a highly trained facist society or a rag-tag post-apocalyptic group?

The name of the game is: Draw a futuristic cop!

Try to be as creative as possible!

here's my entery. I actualy took my time with this.
There won't be any morepolice in the stile as we know it today in the future. They will be like special agents that we know today with a few modifications. A built in computer in the helmet. Some radars in the helmet glases. A comunicating sistem atached to the ear (no acquarsd walki-talkies) and a apecial plasma gun that actualy dosn't kill anybody but just literaly stops the bad guy in his tracks (it freezez him in a special mass).

Here is my vision of the future cops, scavenging planets for remaining life forms.They will have evolved and grew tails that shoot acid.They will also wear huge neo-technologically built arms that regenerate them selfs and shoot huge plasma balls.They will cary laser guns and a small paralize gun in their feet pockets.Their vision will be enchanted by heat seeking gogles and communication system (the spikes on their head).And for viechles they will have a rocket launcher attached near their neck that fire heat seeking missiles (look at the mouth on those missiles!).Even their feet will be dangerous with their knifed boots.

New here but been browsing the forums for a little while and thought I would say hello and have a go at this sprite jam, looks like fun.

Didn't have much time but did it over a couple of hours at lunch and after work.

Police of the future:

"Tired of a bad image and low public opinion the police force went on a new recruitment drive and re-thaught their uniforms in an effort to 'update' their image. In the first month alone reported crime was up 350% but staggeringly a 1000% increase in arrests were made, with 2 in 3 criminals handing themselves in."

Link was working, I've just phoned up work which host my site (work at an isp) and the network chap is just doing some server meaintence on the server my site is on, typical!. Apparently it should be back in a while.

When you can see it, yes I drew it in Photoshop with a wacom tablet, then monkied around quickly in image ready to do the (bad) animation.

Here's my attempt.  I've never been really good at drawing people, but I love participating.

He's sort of Judge Dread inspired, I think.  I used 18 colors, and it took maybe 2 hours or so.  I'm not very fast when I draw either.

Ok, seeing as it's the 5th today...
Time for the judgment!

Man, I had no idea hosting these competitions would be so tough to call. If it were up to me, you'd all win, but this competition's rules don't allow for that.

Here are my impressions (sorry to draw this out, but I wanted to recognize everyone for the work they did):

Redwall: It's a good, solid sprite. I like the clean lines and lack of double pixels. However, as you mentioned, it is not the most creative concept I've seen.

InCreator: I love the realism this sprite exudes. The shaded quality of the image is great, and the concept seems like a reasonable extrapolation of our current technology. Great work!

Earlwood: Your concept was both creative and humorous, though it's more of an object than an actual sprite. Very nice execution.

Viktor: Very dynamic scene you made. Lots of movement, from the arch of the policeman's body to the explosion on the left. For some reason, his left leg is a bit disconcerting.

Preparación De Ensalada: Funny, but not really a sprite. The lettering below the RIP is a little hard to read.

JudgeDeadd: Sorry, but the link to your image seems to be broken.

Tanker: Very creative, but the execution could use a bit of a boost. With a more dynamic pose, fewer double-pixels, and a different color scheme, you could be really on to something.

TikiTikiMan: Great work! I like the focus on the actual vehicle. I could definitely see this one in a game.

Wreck: The future looks like a good place to live. I like the style, though you worked within the restraints of a traditional cop uniform (yes, it is sexier, but the same hat, color, etc.).

Privateer Puddin': I like your concept, though I would've preferred it to been a bit more "pixel art" like.

Opo Terser: I love the Dr. Seuss quality you've captured with this one. Very whimsical execution of a funny concept.

DragonRose: An excellent derivitive work; you've really captured Wreck's style in this one.

Zootyfruit: Armor plating is always the way to go. I would have liked to see a little more contrast in the shading, though.

SierraFreak: I like the color contrast of this robocop. He strikes me as a bit too symmetrical and the lighting on his left side is inconsistent (minor).

TheSaint: Funny South Park reference. I hope the cops of the future aren't like Cartman.

Geoffkhan: The cartoony cop constrasts well against the realistically shaded vehicle. I'm not sure why there would be flames coming out of the exaust when he's not riding the bike. The bunny slippers are definitely sweet.
