So, what is this. Well, I know there are more of us who want to bleed on paper with a pen. This is the perfect chance rewoken, as wished but never happened. Just like the communist revolution. I'm referring to this here, yessiree, indeed: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=18519.msg225471#msg225471

The man sits on my door
grimly looking as he ponders
"will he die?"
I look up at him
slowly drifting away
STOP!
the beat has gone
the drug tasted sweet
it's just a shame
it left me dead.

A powdery high of fantastic delight sends my mind into a place with lots of light. I try to stand but slump back down I lay on the ground with no one around. Trembling to myself that these days are gone, but the more I seem sure the more I am wrong. My brain is confused and my senses are lost, and I am consuming and smelling the frost. The powdery high that I crave day and night, the powdery high that is ruining my life. My eyes are big and my hands are shaking, but I can't seem to fight this powerful craving. Its running my life and I can't seem to stop, its another bad habit I can't seem to drop. I am an addict of the drug called cocaine, as I sniff this snow I am going insane...

/me is surprised that this activity is still going on.

But since it's still written in the Forum charter that such an activity exists I think I'll let it pass, just this time!

Picking magic mushrooms,
As I wander down the lane,
Believe me now that dealing drugs,
Is not an easy game.

two kilo's of skunk,
and an ounce of crack,
two weeks later,
the buyers back.

He takes his wallet,
from his jacket,
I unzip my pocket,
and hand him the packet.

He doesn't pay,
and turns to run,
I shoot him down,
with my sawn-off shotgun.

That's just ridiculous... I don't see a bit of poetry here. Do we really need a poetry competition? :/

I consider my entry Poetry, are you saying it isn't? Because I wouldn't consider you a good judge of poetry. HHMMPFF! Vel!

Vel, I, and the great public are now expecting you to clearly define what is poetry. In the meanwhile you could consider this as a maturity test for a bunch of geeks.

Yeh, and mine,
I think that its just him that can't write poems and he doesn't want anyone else to win.

There's no need to be angry at Vel. As soon as you all realize he is superior I'm sure we'll all get along :)

First of all, I'd like to say that I am not a poet and hence do not write poetry. But that doesn't mean I can't judge. And what is poetry? To me, it's not just verses the last word of which rhymes, u1bd2005 and r4l. Nor is it a random babble with no rhyme and composition, Obi. To me, poetry is beauty, flow of language, delight of sound when read out loud. And while I mean no offence to any of you, I don't find any of that here.

So you're saying that poetry can't be challenging?

Vel: Not everyone agrees with your definition of poetry. Besides, these competitions are about having a bit of fun, not being sticklers with what is poetry and what isn't. Does it make any difference if none of these entries are what you consider poetry? Not really.

Then everyone just ignore my statements and go on writing what you wan to, whatever.

To get back on track...
If it counts, here is a poem I wrote a few months ago.  I guess you would need to know the legend of Tristan and Isolde first (and not the movie version) for this to make sense.  Oh, and the "foreign draught" is a love potion, so that's how this fits the theme ^_^

This was my first attempt at a sonnet ever.  Iombic pentameter is not my friend, so don't laugh =^_^=

Tristan & Isolde

â€"Clouds softly weep, sun shines no light
Upon a stately ship a-sail the sea;
Below does lie the King's young bride-to-be
In sweet entwine with his most trusted knightâ€"
Wherefore the pair make unchaste embraces tight?
A foreign draught, haste-drunk to soothe their thirst,
Instead their passion stirred, and in fever burst
From within, withoutâ€"unto ill-starred night.
Ferocious fate! Though lovers' love be true,
Their love their arms will only brief enfold:
A royal sword will lay between the two,
And never will doting eyes again behold
The countenance most desirous to view:
She, her Tristan; he, his Isolde.

Vel!!  Have you ever been to a poetry bar
Do you know what poetry is
No

Lemme tell you its not about catchy rymes and silliness
Poetry is a feeling and a way of expressing yourself to a degree which you feel best

Anyways

To fall amongst the tulips
to adere to their sweet scent
To enjoy life to its entirity
No matter where were sent
The Colour and sound
Of mothers voice
falls softly on deaf ears
But we all know
The benefit ofÃ,
learning through the years
To drop or fall
the big and small
the sounds are all inane
But until we drop the
Final one
to stop the living pain

wot? oh yes, this is over. seemingly we didn't get much votes but, as I was gong to vote for either Obi or Sinsin or Mashpotato, it doesn't matter since there are no second places.

Obi, please start a new one, we're waiting eagerly!
