 The Rules
* This is a quiz about adventure gaming trivia. Each installment has about a dozen questions with a common theme, about well-known adventure games, either classics or from the more famous "indie" games. Suggested themes include but are not limited to inventory items, music, easter eggs or forest creatures.
* Each question is worth two points if correct, one for a partial answer, and three if you have a better answer than the person who made up the question.
* This thread is for hints and feedback, as well as noting your participation. Please send answers by PM to prevent people from peeking. The quizmaster will post all answers when the quiz ends.
* As with most activities, the winner of this quiz will be the quizmaster of the next one. In case of a tie, the person who submitted earlier is considered the winner.
* I'm setting a deadline of a week, then give me a few days to look over all answers, and give the winner a few days to come up with something new. The result should be a biweekly quiz, or thereabouts.

                                             Rebus Edition!

Heyo all!  The idea of this is simple but different than usual (since I had trouble thinking of trivia what ain't been done yet)...I'm going to give you ten rebus-pictures that represent ten game characters from classic Sierra, Lucasarts (and even Infocom!) games.  They might be heroes, villains, or supporting characters.  You just need to figure out their names and PM them to me.

The pics can be kind of tricky, as some parts may represent individual syllables in each name, while other pics are visual puns and wordplay.  And remember to try different synonyms if something doesn't seem to fit.  I hope you all enjoy this, it took some hard thinking.  ;D  And I will be making trophies for the three highest scores!  Cheers, and good luck!

This is an awesome idea for a quiz! Great work, Strange Visitor. I'm having lots of fun with it.

Darn, I thought this was going to be a quiz about an Edinburgh detective

Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

GarageGothic

Woohoo! ;D I doubt I can come up with something as fun and original as this week's Quizzening, but I'll try to work something out during the weekend.

Play_Pretend

Actually Steve was the only other person that got all 10 answers right, (it was just determined by time after that, and GarageGothic got his answers in like the day of/after the Quizzening started, so he pretty much edged you all out. :))  If you like I'll make some sort of Honorable Mention award when I get home tonight, 'cause Blind Io knows this Quizzening was difficult. :)

Sergio:  Nice try on the "Vogons" though, good referencing skills. :)  You got 9 out of 10.

Sheepisher

Wheee!  All those years of reading puzzle books finally paid off!  ;D

Although I'm still wondering ... what game does Jerrod Wilson come from?  I only figured it out by piecing together the rebus ...
"Like a balloon and ... something bad happens!"

Play_Pretend

Gold Rush!  My first and favorite Sierra game. :)

Anym

I got a trophy! Huzzah! And I lost only because I was a bit too slow. Good, I can work on that. Double huzzah! ;D

With four people getting it all correct (a first I think), maybe it wasn't difficult enough, though. ;)

Vogons? What vogons? An alternative solution to Vohaul?

Jerrod Wilson is from Gold Rush, which I know not from playing the game, but from the Quizzening: Sidekick Special.

And in case anyone wonders, hod (not a hod) is a concept from kabbalah, with the picture above actually showing a tree of life (sephiroth) with hod marked in white, something I know from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Woot. That's how I knew about it too. :D Great show. Great avatar. Read "Foucolt's pendulum" by Umberto Eco for more kabbalah schtuff, kinda Gabriel Knightish.

Great quiz SV! Dock and Turf! Argh! I went though a zillion iterations of totally different words than those. Curses! :P

Anym

I didn't like Foucault's Pendulum, actually. I much prefer The Name of the Rose (for something by Eco) and Illuminatus! (for something about conspiracies).
