Title: Spright Jam January 20 - 27, 2007 - The Weener is...!
Post by: Tiki on Fri 19/01/2007 21:11:18
Alrighty folks, this week's topic is...

Masters!

Many, many games feature inexperienced or incompetent main characters.  Your job is to create someone that is a master of his or her craft.

Examples could include a burglar, Jedi Master, cook, musician, or a shrewd businessman - even janitors could work.  The possibilities are endless.  I just want his/her expertise to be conveyed in the sprite.

No size or color restrictions, just don't get unreasonable.

The competition ends on the 27th.  Have at ye!

Well, IMO that looks like a trace!

I'm not saying you traced it, but it's just too many things identical. If not traced, very good copying ;)

i did use the outline, following a similar technique to the one on a site listed in this forum. i did however, hand place every pixel, dithering my butt off.

My problem isn't that it was/is traced (the rules don't specify no tracing).

My problem is that it's not a sprite in the strictest of terms.

Now ... no more jabber, back on task here people!!

Here's a well known master of his trade... I would have included the logo but I wasn't sure because of copyright reasons.

115x215Ã,  20 colors including transparency

2x

Carl Cerberos, the three-headed man, is the perfect guard of the Miltosian Library, home of the original copy of the world-famous epic "Homer, Go Home". There is no corner, no blind angle, which could be used to sneak into the giant building, as long as Carl is on duty.

23 colours of something.

cheers

Okay, time's up!  The winners are...

1st Place: Mr_Frisby
Original and simple.  Surgio's skill and snootiness both come across quite nicely.

2nd Place: nihilyst
A very good idea and well executed.

3rd Place: TheJBurger
Great technique, and nice pose.

No trophies, I'm afraid.   Feel free to make one for yourself if you feel so inclined.

And thanks to the other participants. This competition wouldn't be what it is without lots of competition!
