Title: SPRITE JAM: Duke Nukem Whatever (July 2nd - July 16th)
Post by: on Sat 02/07/2011 17:42:39
After several years in Develeopment Hell, we finally were given a game, but apparently... we might as well have waited a bit longer. No worries, though: AGS spriters to the rescue!

Recast Duke Nukem as an AGS character (sprite). It's up to you HOW you interpret him, so be as creative as you can!
(The character must be Duke, though. To be precise: Duke in Guybrush's coat would be valid, and awesome.
Guybrush with a pipebomb would be invalid, and sure to harm himself.)

It should be a functional AGS character sprite, and can be anything from a simple static view to a cool pose or whatever you can think of.
If you want, you can add all the props you want, but if you include a background, one separate image of the sprite is also required.
No trace-overs, voice-overs, fade-ins, or moon pies!

The jam will end when I've finished chewing gum, which will be July the 16th. After that a winner'll be announced and given a kick-ass trophy:

Have fun!

Thought I'd get things started with a cutesy platformer type look.

I love those Prog, they'd fit in an awesome Duke Nukem remake. The actual side scroller not the 3D.

Here is my entry: COMMODORE DUKE

I was going to draw some hi-res alpha channel madness but then I got jealous of the big boys and wanted to be more like them.

20 colours, I am comfortable with this image!

Wow, that's one hard decision, especially with Bucket's entry (which looks extremely good, but is the only one that clearly had more than a reference pic- hard times!)
In the end, I'll rate by style and style alone.

Glorious Gold goes to ProgZmax.
Clean, stylish, clearly readable, and superb for a game.

Sublime Silver goes to Eggie.
Superwhat all the way. I just hope he's angry, and not desperate for a toilet ;)

Blissful Bronze goes to Ponch.
Retro indeed. Now dig out that Atari system!

Thanks a lot, guys, and let the next round start, ProgZ.
