So seeing as elementals and the like have already been done, you get to do a sprite version of a season.
Theme: Pick a season, make a usable sprite personification of the season, and have fun with it! Could be a man, could be a beast, could be...I don't know. You think of something.
Rules: No restictions, as long as it's usable in a game. Oh, and do mention which season it is.
Charming idea, had to make it a "double entry" ;) Maybe I'll finish the other two, too. Can you guess the seasons?

Autumn is so emo.
You thought Ben304 had run out of silly sprite jam entries!?
SADLY NOT!

Wail and gnash your teeth. I have returned.
That is so awesome! ;D
Hey, that's the worst winter candy cane I've ever seen!

Aha!! Well if it is, I'm sorry, I didn't get that. I did, however, wonder what a deranged slinky was doing pretending to be a season. :-\

Was "idiot" the word you were looking for? ;D

Yes, it's meant to be spring. My absurd humor fails again! HURRAH! 8)
Yay, the four seasons: Sorceress, Slinky, Summer and Emo!

...frikkin' punster, something like that. If your entry wins, I'll buy you a beer.

You're looking for a word and that word is?

You just got one point.

Seasons-ings! ;D
I was gonna get all fancy, drawing a table and everything, but then I got bored.
Looks like I'm not the only punk around here :=
(so I don't double post, I'm replying to the comment below:
Heh it's cool, I don't plan on defending my territory. Unless you want to have a duel with breadsticks. Coz that'd be kinda fun.
Sorry, am I infringing on your territory? :P
In-fridge-ing, possibly. Argh... must... stop... goin' off-topic...
Sorry, I'll do better next thyme.
Edit: Pilf is going to show up here and complain that 'I stole her idea', when in reality, I didn't. She was just surprised that no one had done something similar to mine. :D So in truth, I guess this was her idea first :(... somehow

'Tis the season to be jolly
oh wow. Um...I think everyone deserves a trophy. Because I'd feel wrong only rewarding just three of you ;)
But we'll see.
Amazing entries so far, can't wait to see more :D
Sylvr, I spotted a mistake: the salt should be the one with a single hole.
@SHH Um, why?

Hail Eris.

@SHH Um, why?
Because pepperthings are commonly done with more than one, actually I've never seen one made with only one. And at the same time, you come across one holed salt things every now and then. I think it's because spilling too much pepper doesn't ruin the food, but a lot of salt does.
Ben, I actually had the same idea as you when I first saw this comp. Unfortunately my spriting (and most all art of mine) sucks.
Quote from: Tuomas on Thu 27/11/2008 10:36:15I think it's because spilling too much pepper doesn't ruin the food, but a lot of salt does.
Agreed. Salt pours easier, whereas I actually have to shake the pepper.

That's interesting, because in Austria pepper shakers usually have only one hole while salt shakers have more of them. Don't know why, though.

:O not around here
SSH what you talking about? The single hole, is the pepper in Scotland too... I think you are still in arguement mode :-\ Or someone fills your pepper and salt shakers wrong at home.
I just assumed that in Scotland they had one giant hole in the salt so it was easier to get it onto the food in massive quantities than shaking it through a bunch of pesky little holes. :=
Apparently the definitive answer is: it varies (http://ask.yahoo.com/20040126.html)
I looked out my window early last winter and saw this unhappy little chap...

Later that day he was still there, but evidently the temperature had dropped a few more degrees...

Is that monkey holding a BANANAPHONE???
And I don't think it was getting very good reception

Yes! It is time to award the trophies (and alas the lack of time on my part means there are only three), so here they are:
The Golden Pillar of Seasons goes to
Pslim, because the idea of making Autumn emo was an unexpected but excellent fit, especially since this autumn here has been so cold and well, depressing. The main reason I liked this entry was because of the colours and pose, its got the orange and green of anything typically autumn, but the colours are done in a way so that the character still comes across as emo, and not a depressed festival-goer. Or maybe it's a bit of both. Either way, I liked the different approach to the season.

The Silver Pillar goes to
Ghost, these sprites felt like they came fresh out of a game and represented their seasons quite well. What worked for me here was their expressions. Autumn appears very down-to-earth and he is a farmer, both things that speak of traditional autum-ness. Winter on the other hand is mysterious, maybe to the point of being mischevous, and she looks like a sorceress. Brings to mind sudden winter storms that stop as soon as they start. Overall a great entry, would love to see what spring and summer look like.

And the Bronze Pillar (I applaud all those who have read this whole post so far)goes to
Ben304. I had to do it. I don't think I need to explain this one either, it was just that funny.
For all you other punsters, whether it's a joke entry or not, do it anyway. Somebody will find it funny if not all of us, and it's worth a laugh.
Thanks to all participants for making this a great competition, take it away Pslim!
Sweet Jam, and congratulations to everyone! And thanks for the stylish trophy too!
Yeah I don't feel worthy at all of these awesome trophies but thanks pilfer!
It sort of makes me feel like following my instincts isn't such an awful idea after all. :=
Totally awesome entries everybody and it's great to see so many in one jam.
