First off, I understand that movie Sprite Jams have been used before...and that this most definately isn't 'Teh most 1nn0vative Sprite Jam evar!!1!"  But, it should prove amusing none the less.
The topic: *drum roll please*

Funny movie sprite!

You must sprite a funny character/object/whatever from a movie.  Now, this ain't no background blitz, so I won't force you to make a background, but it could possibly help other people recognize the movie.  Now, by funny, it could be something that was supposed to make you laugh, or it could be uninentional (Yoda fighting Dooku comes to mind....) Its also recommended that you choose a movie that the majority of us would be familiar with...

Now, the restrictions are as follows
1.  Resolution: No restriction, just don't go too big
2. Colors: 256

Real Quick Example:

Eh, just a quickie Spaceballs referance.   Those of you who haven't seen the movie, you must think I'm very strange.

Happy spriting, and no flaming me or each other please!

*Edit:  for some of us its still July 14th, and the contest hasn't officially 'started' yet, but we are going with the forum's time

*Another Edit:  Thanks DM, for inspiring this idea

It seems like this competition requires more than just spriting abilities. Maybe it should be called a "scene jam".

Aarg, you have a point, BB.  Should I change the topic?

*Feels stupid*

Haddas

If I have a seen from a movie, am I allowed to have 256 colours per screen, or does the whole, in my case, animation have to be 256 colours?

Tiki

I would say 256 for the whole animation, Haddas.

So are we just going to keep the jam the way it is now?  If I get many objections, I may have no choice but to change it....I guess I'll just wait it out and get more of your opinions...maybe we can start a real 'Scene Jam'  :D   I doubt it though...to similiar to the Sprite Jam...

Awaiting your comments,

Stick with Sprite Jam :)

How about you change the topic to 'Funny Movie Object Sprite' where you pick an object from a funny movie scene.  So your Spaceballs reference could just be the screen/console ...

Something like that?

BOYD1981

can this just be a made up scene but one that uses recognisable characters from a movie - kinda like outtakes or deleted scenes or something?
for example, darth vader going to chop luke skywalker's hand off, but instead the lightsaber just hits his arm so he tries again...

Hmm, that could work, Boyd.  As long as it has to do with a movie and its funny, I don't see why not.

Edit:  Sprite Jam Topic's been changed, see above

Took about 2 1/2 hours in MsPaint

Oh yeah, sorry it's not a sprite, I couldn't stop myself

I'm making a monty python scene, heavy quality reduction allready, but it's still at 1,6 mb. I wonder where it could be hosted or how I could shrink it? Mind you, I've shrunk it down 69% already :S

EDIT: It's not really a sprite, so I don't think it'll count as an entry though...

EDIT2: FINALLY!!!

From "Army of Darkness":

This is my BOOMSTICK!

(and my first sprite jam, I think...)

EDIT: oh, and that's 23 colours, in case anyone cares.

Wow, good job all three of you....but , this is my fault for not mentioning, can you say the name of the movie its from? (cept Opo Terser, he already did)
Oh, and yes, Opo's is mind numbing, but I don't think I'm allowed to pick him, seeing as he just hosted the last one.  Somebody fill me in on that , please.  Anyways, keep it coming people!  And post those movie titles!   ;D

Chicky

nice entry haddas, from the holy grail... no?

Haddas

Yes. It is indeed from Monty Python & The quest for the holy grail

Ozwalled

And as added above, mine is from "The Lord of the"..., I mean, "Army of Darkness".  ::)

geoffkhan (lazy login)

Haddas, I laughed a lot at your entry. :) Nice job, and that's one of my fav scenes.

Ozwalled, I'm not sure if that qualifies as a boomstick. And only dwarves are allowed to say "this is my boomstick". Did I just say that? I'm nerdier than I thought. Sorry, guys.

The boomstick line is directly out of the movie "Army of Darkness". Anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's where it originally came from, and not from any dwarf  (no offense).
