Title: Squib Jam, 1st November to 5th November - Fireworks
Post by: BOYD1981 on Sat 01/11/2008 19:39:39
For those of us in the UK, any hallowe'en celebrations are soon followed up with Bonfire Night on the 5th of November.
Although this presents a bit of a problem for Super Squibs - the largest supplier of fireworks in the country - because their head firework designer was eaten by a pack of zombies on Hallowe'en. So now they're looking for somebody to replace him. Could that somebody be you?

Rules: Design your own awesome firework (think Gandalf's dragon rocket in Fellowship of the Ring, which was originally supposed to open up it's wings before taking off), it can be a rocket, catherine wheel, fountain, other type of firework, OR any combination of those!

Size Restrictions: Obviously Super Squibs want something to make people go "ooh" and "aah" and not blow them to pieces, so people are strictly limited to a size no greater than 150x150.

Colour Restrictions: No more than 64.

Optional Extras: You can supply an action shot of the final explosion of your rockets, twirling of your catherine wheels, gushing of your fountains or whatever if you would like to. You can also animate if you like.

You have until bonfire night. Good luck!

Now that's a theme that's hard to resist.

Teh Big Blue

13 colours
More than just your state-of-the-art Wintermute Rocket, the BIG BLUE really has it all- two side rockets allow it to reach a height of almost 2 miles before exploding, four separate sparkler packs add shiny glimmer, and the cup shaped hull contains several shades of blue. A tiny processor in the rocket's tip steers this bulky mother of a firework to create a complex outline.

And... baDaBoom!

Hear all those 'ooohhHHH's and 'aaaahhHHHH!!!'s? Defenitely a crowd pleaser!

Okay, I was thinking of extended the deadline a bit but it seems as though this contest has generated very little interest, which is a shame :(

I like both of the entries, but IndieBoy's really captures the spirit of what I was after, so he has won. Hurrah!

Well, if I would have had more time and wasn't busy making my animation entry I would have posted something too.
