Hotspot has taken the http upload facility down for maintainance, it should be back up and working some time soon. Larger uploads over http are often troublesome though, so I've written a script to handle uploads via FTP, here are the details for you to put in your FTP client:
Server: americangirlscouts.org
Port: 2121
username: Your forum username
password: Your forum password
This will allow you to upload, list and delete your own files, and they'll be available at http://americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/YourUsername
Your forum password is not stored in any way.
Limits:
You can upload mp3, ogg, mid, png, gif, jpg, exe, rar and zip files, up to 100mb. You should NOT use this as a general uploading service, it is mainly intended as a place where we can maintain stable links to games, but screenshots, stuff for critics lounge, and so on, are also ok. If you have problems with it PM me or post here with them, it's not been heavily tested yet (although it appears to work).
Cool, I would say something more but I kind of need a demo or completed game to upload first ^_^
Its ugly in IE, I blame IE.
Yay! :D Thanks.

That's because you work in a browser that is supposedly perfect, and completely ignore IE, which most people still use. I'd be willing to try and fix the layout for IE, if I was provided with the css and the layout part of the source...

My page, if you compare to the Firefox version :D
I think you should add .7z to the supported formats, well, because I often use it to pack files.
Nice, however, I just don't have anything to upload so far. :)
I do ish? Really? Thats why the rest of my sites work perfectly in IE? I just haven't gotten around to dummying the style sheet for IE yet.

I was joking on that one, k._.? Forgot to include smileys.
Whatever...
So was I! I was just defending my honour!
And explaining why it was, since thats what it will look like to anyone who uses the site in IE.
If you want to use 7zip the best thing for everyone is to make it self extracting (exes are supported for upload), because only a tiny minority can extract that format.
lol, I was starting to wonder what american girl scouts was all about :D Great name!

Um, I just looked into the paths and there is no songo.rar uploaded. Are you sure it was successful?
There was probably a problem with the upload, I'll try again.
Thanks.
it will be www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/files/FILENAME
Edit: Um, I just looked into the paths and there is no songo.rar uploaded. Are you sure it was successful?
I tried again. It was processing for a few minutes, and then just came back to THIS (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/) screen. It didn't give me the screen "YOU CAN FIND YOUR FILE HERE...", like it did when I tested a smaller file.
HEHU a place to upload :D

This I don't know about, its possible I missed out an error handling message, I'll check over after work today.

This is probably due to your connection, which have you got?

Broadband.
It seems it uploaded an empty file though, because when I tried again it said file already exists but when I test-downloaded it , it was 0 kb.
Well I've deleted that file now, why its doing it I don't know, probably something to do with how something your end is set up, it uses HTTP which is beyond my control but I have no problems uploading to it, Ill have to check it out later after work.
I made a 50 MB Game. It's in German. Can I upload it?
QuotePlease DO NOT use this page to upload anything except demos and complete games, or we will delete the file. There's currently a 25MB file-size limit, but this limit may be expanded under extenuating circumstances.
Yours is a game, so if you split it into 2 files there's no reason why you can't, I reckon.
But please please PLEASE, don't even bother unless you include an English translation.
I made a game last night in under three hours, I'm thinking of uploading it and maybe it could go in the joke section? Although, I'm not sure if it's good enough, even for the joke section?
did you see what kind of lame games are in the joke section?? im sure it will be alright :)

Try again now, it ought to be fixed.

Ugh. Consider washing those shoes once in a while? :P
Just so you know, and as this is all about uploads etc - I'm happy to host any game that is no more than 10mb at screen7.co.uk (its pretty much the girlscouts webserver anyway :P)
The game will be listed on the Screen 7 games page.
Just send your game to speilbergjnr at hotmail.com, zipped or raaaarr'd!
I will host bigger games, but you need to find a way of getting it to me other than through email ;)
And, should you want to take up this offer & if you're feeling kind, feel free to include the Screen 7 splash at the start. You don't have too - but it helps affiliate your game with the website.
http://screen7.co.uk/games/s7_ingame_logo.pcx
Odd, it's not working for me today.
It did the other day, but now it's not!
The reccuring message is:
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function ftp_connect() in /home/ags/public_html/agsuploads/index.php on line 68"
I uploaded A day with Michael but there are problems with my program... so how do I un upload it and start over?

The owners of the joint AGS server (http://www.americangirlscouts.org) have (with the help of Hotspot) created a page for the uploading of completed and demo AGS games. Please DO NOT use this page to upload anything except demos and complete games, or we will delete the file. There's currently a 25MB file-size limit, but this limit may be expanded under extenuating circumstances. We'll see. As it is, upload your files, here (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/).
That server doesn't work, i don't know whats going on!!! >:( >:( >:(
It's down at the moment. It will be back up soon (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=23279.msg312745#msg312745).
I tried to upload the .zip file of my game on the americangirlscouts upload server and it made me wait a while (like it WAS uploading), then nothing happened. it stayed on the upload screen.
Whats wrong? HELP!!!! ;D
It doesn't seem to be up anyway. Try my upload service (http://www.developer7.org/files/) (any filetype except PHP and CGI files, 1gb limit).
Its down whilst we move everything from the old, constantly melting, server to a shiny new server. Bare with us.
is it possible to upload games higher than 25 MB by splitting into parts? My demo game seems to be 60-70 MB. Then, how can i give download link for parts in Games Page ? it only supports one link for download ?
Has it been fixed? I've uploaded a zip file and it's not working.
Hey, i want to upload a demo of my Indiana jones game. How do I get a page for it (like a description of the game and stuff)? If you can put up the little page for me, the title should be "Indiana Jones and the Cloak of Elijah: Rough Draft Demo" the description should be "In 1937 he found the lost ark. In 1938, the Holy Grail. In 1939, Atlantis. Now, one year later, in 1940, he's at it again. Kingdom/OldSchool Film/Gameco proudly presents: INDIANA JONES AND THE CLOAK OF ELIJAH!!!! Four new characters, talkie (coming soon) and much, more. PS: The hand-made backgrounds in this game are going to be re-made."
Just make a page using Geoshitties or whatever.
Oops. The filename is INDY.ZIP just so you know.
I tried uploading the file many times, with different file names, and I get this "page cannot be found" message.

Interesting, are you trying to log in as Peder Johnsen or Reven? It should be your forum login details rather than current forum name, if that isn't clear.

Iam using "Reven"
The only other thing I can think of is you haven't set the port right, note that AGS Uploads runs on port 2121, and not the default ftp port 21, which is what the owners use to upload to the server in general.

Yeah all it is is I forgot people can change their names when I wrote the login script, I'll fix it and apply the changes, it'll be a few minutes.

Hi, I tried going to the server, using my username, and it says "cannot be found" or something like that. What the flip is going on?
it has never worked for me either. i suggest trying something else.
Really? It's fine for anyone I ask to test it, always. I will have to put some sort of error logging in...
It worked perfect for me until 27th of march... on the evening.
since then I havent been able to log in on the server..
Seems someone restarted the server under a different user, so the file permissions are wrong, I'll try and fix it now..
Edit: I can't be bothered, linux permissions are too confusing. Maybe tomorrow.

You do not have permission to access this document.
I cant view pictures uploaded to the server.
And I cant download files that is uploaded either.
FTP works fine though.
Won't work for me either... I don't know what to do, I'll take it down again, I guess.
fixed
Is the server up right now? I cannot for the life of me send anything.
I've made sure I'm on the right port and everything. I can log in. But when I try to send a file, it just says there's an "internal server error" and it won't send.
Am I doing something wrong?
Edit: Nevermind. I'm not sure what was wrong, as I haven't done anything different, but it's working now. Probably just a little hiccough in the server.

Please help.
I've also had a problem connecting for a while now, but it worked fine before, so it must be a hiccup somewhere.
Yeah uploading doesn't work since the forum move and I can't work out why yet.
At least I know it's not my fault!
Good luck with fixing it scotch. Hope you have it up soon.

I simply followed those rules, but it didn't work.
The FTP-Message was: Connection refused
So what went wrong ???
Hope you can help me, because I didn't found any topics in the forum.
My FTP-Clients are GFtp and (just) ftp under Linux.
Thanks for spending time on this, Oli.
Try going to this server: pncadventures.com
Edit: Sorry, rong link
for somereason it doesn't work for me, but I remember it being advertised here not too long ago.
Oh, yes, AGS Uploads doesn't work anymore, sorry. Any files you have there will still work though. I'll remove this thread in a few days.
What :o
No more AGS Uploads???
And this that was such a good idea!
Hey, I've always wondered, how come all of the sites that feature FTP uploads use americangirlscouts.org?
Where do I upload my game to when I want to post it? (And how?)
Do I need to include all the images I used for my backgrounds, or are they contained somewhere in the game itself?
Thanks, I'll post my game as soon as the SpinLock module gets fixed. If you know about this, check the post in the Beginners' forum.
