Hello,

I would like to announce the release of an SQ6 improved gui template I've put together. It was originally intended for an SQ fangame I've been producing in my free time. Recently, it has occured to me that others may wish to benefit from the ability to use it as well. I figure since it's already derived from an SQ6 designer/artist, it doesn't hurt.

Probably the greatest contribution I was able to make is the new colors/graphics included in the gui itself. I wish I could say the same for the programming, but I'm a very novice programmer. The score display coding is a bit lengthy, and the label box memory feature has a bit to be desired when it comes to functioning exactly as it did in SQ6.

Aside from the above mentioned, I believe you may find this to be a very useful template. It is very much like SQ6's gui, but now with a PARSER built in and the addition of an EARS and NOSE cursor.

There is one thing I ask: If you wish to use this template, please remember to credit "Johnathon Matthews" for further development of the SQ6 GUI. Also, if anyone with authority/power could upload this to the AGS resources website? I would greatly appreciate it. It seems I'm only allowed/able to post it here in the forums.

Here is the template.

Sincerely,

Johnathon

It's an interesting choice, given that I've never really seen any comments in favour of the SQ6 GUI. The parser adds a little to it, though, and I might use it - although I'd definitely use the text box as an inventory window instead. I didn't quite follow the logic behind that design choice, as there usually wasn't enough going on on the screen to justify not showing text on top of it. Done in that way it would look just like a variant of the SCUMM system.
