Title: Cirque De Zale
Post by: Kinoko on Tue 13/04/2004 05:17:39
OH MY GOD!

It's finally here... get your diapers because this may cause you to relieve yourself.

CIRQUE DE ZALE is at last among us. It's been among me for awhile, but now it's out here with the collective. After a lot of beta testing, I can confidently state that I'm 90% sure this game is free of bugs and any major glitches, and most grammar and spelling mistakes.

So... what are you waiting for? It's sitting right there, looking like a lonely little puppy or kitten, waiting for you to download it and give it all the attention and love you can spare.

http://www.anime.com.au/Katt/misc/cirque.zip (http://www.anime.com.au/Katt/misc/cirque.zip)

Let me know what you think! Unless you think it's bad... if that's the case, best not say anything at all. I may cry.

(Seriously, criticism welcome. I may beat you to a bloody pulp but I'll take it all into account so I can make another even better game next time!)

EDIT: Ah, I should probably mention that the game is zipped into a 3 meg file. It's small enough for EVERYONE to enjoy!

Sweet! Can't wait to play it! Downloa- Wait no... The link didn't work. Blast!

You know what, that was such a speedy reply, I think you beat my FTP program by a few seconds. Try again now ^_^

EDIT: To anyone who found their download cutting short or screwing up - my bad! Sorry, I had to make a quick change to the file.

Yup, seems to be downloading fine. Will give my comments once it's done.

Downloading now.... wow... I can hardly wait to see those Monkey-Islandish graphics alive!!! :D
But I think I'll wait till the download ends and play it tomorrow. I have to sleep sometimes, you know. ;)

EDIT - Alright I couldn't resist and started playing it. It's so lovely! :D Those graphics are excellent, and the characters are hilarious!

I played until the game crashed :P though I don't think I can reproduce the crash. It happened when I gave something to someone, I think it was to the old man next to the Guild but don't remember what I was trying to give. Anyway it was one of those errors you get once but not anymore.

Terrific game! :D

Excellent game! Took me about an hour to finish. Nice classic style graphics, pretty straight forward puzzles still requireing some thought.

Two bugs:
Spoiler

1: I showed the deed to the mother without having given the doll to her, and suddenly she appeared holding it while I still had it in inventory. I could give it to her afterwards, and then she asked for proof of owning a circus. I understand I should have given her the doll first so this must be a bug. (The puzzle of giving her the doll in the first place wasn't obvious to me even after knowing I should. Whats the logic I'm missing? This was the only puzzle lacking meaning to me though :) )

2: I could point at the ladder before having unlocked the hatch. probably one pixel or something is showing... I just swept over it seeing the word ladder when i was using the key on the hatch, so I didn't try any interactions with it...
[close]

All of the characters were fun and acted natural considering each of their different personalities. I sometimes found the music a bit repetative but
Spoiler
the change of music between the outside and the inside of the whitch's house was absolutely wonderful! I loved it!
[close]

High score on this one! Is it added to the games list yet? If so I'm heading over there to rate it!

I'm sorry Kinoko, I didn't do a very good job of beta testing! I just have a lot of trouble finding the time. Sorry. But it looks like you didn't need me anyway, so....I promise I'll never volunteer to beta test again....Sorry....forgive me?

Aww, thanks for all the compliments!

Man, I can't believe that stupid mother is still a problem, I thought I fixed that. I'll get that ladder thing fixed too. OK, well I'll try to have that fixed and reuploaded by tomorrow afternoon.

Blackbird/Jockstrap - Don't worry! ^_- I had plenty of beta testers as it was so it got a good working over anyway. I still appreciate your offers and the interest in the game.

Title: Re:Cirque De Zale
Post by: SSH on Tue 13/04/2004 20:36:35
Well, the intro ROCKS! Love it! But if you're looking for criticsim...

1. The walkcyclle fo Zale looks like he is repeatedly kicking his front foot with his back foot

2. When he keeps looking back and forth at the elephant poo in the intro, diagonal views would REALLY have been great there.,

Of course, it make my own game suck by comparison in every compartment (and yours has the added advantage of being finished, too) but you obviously are a talented artists, so a little extra artwork...

Anyway, now to explore this other dimension...

I'm stuck...
Spoiler

I've given the fisherman the can of seal, I've given the mother the doll...

I have fishing rod, wolfs head, basket of goodies and dog.

I gave the cycle to the bear, and I've seen the chef put the pie on the window sill.

The obvious thing seemed to be to use the rod with the pie but that didn't work.

Can someone help please?

Thanks in advance.

I was actually hoping that, occasionally, people wouldn't be able to find the cat ^_^ Heheh, I coloured the cat and the fence the same colours by accident and when I was looking for a place to put the cat...

Yes, the walking animation was seriously one of the first things I've ever animated in my life. It was the very first thing I did in making the game (besides designing the sprite) so I hope you understand why it's not that great. A few people have commented on it looking that way but so many people haven't so... I guess I just left it hoping it wouldn't be too big a problem.

Still, I'll make much better walking cycles in my next game! ^_^

EDIT: Beta testers didn't get individual credits (though I love you all!) because there were too many different people here I wanted to thank and I wanted to keep the credits from getting enormous. There's a thankyou in there to all of you though, and I thank you all again here now!

Title: Re:Cirque De Zale
Post by: big brother on Wed 14/04/2004 05:05:48
I like the feel of the game a lot! Good sense of humor, and it looks like you took plenty of inspiration from MI.

I would suggest you add more distinct graphical areas in the rooms so the player can tell where the exits are. Sometimes it's just not clear and it's annoying to have to walk the ego along the edge of a room until he finds it.

Other than that, it's a pretty good game. Naturally, I too am stuck, but it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Awesome game!

Did you know that you can end it prematurely though?

Spoiler

If you pixel hunt you can climb down the ladder without unlocking the hatch!
Then if you go talk to the engineer, he says something about the wrong key... even though he hadn't given me any key at all.... and then the game ends.  I hadn't even found the lego block yet.

Finished it! :D Thanks for a great game! :D

Spoiler

I had a few troubles with not getting the deed when I talked to the other ringmaster - he'd just do hi/bye and nothing else even though I got rid of his people... seemed to right itself though when I re-loaded the game...

Nice music, nice graphics, fabulous storyline. :) My one problem was the cat, as I already mentioned; after that it was just a case of working the puzzles out.

Just have to add my praise for this game.
Superb stuff. It was funny right to the last line of the credits.
Great backgrounds and characters (especially the animals) too!

Thanks!
Steve

It took me about 3 hours to finish, so by the forum rules that's full size I think... I'd call it medium length though.

Oh, and I had Drew's disappearing glasses problem too.

I liked it. I was laughing all the way through, especially after

Great ideas. Very nostalgic, and at the same time a great little sendup of the usual tasks and puzzles to be expected in these games, especially with your little snot of a hero.  ;D

I actually know a guy named Zale. Pronounced [zayl], though, not [za-lay]. The top hat reminds me of Aram. (http://www.meninhats.com/)

Title: Re:Cirque De Zale
Post by: Kinoko on Thu 15/04/2004 12:16:23
OK, as for the bug reports... most of the stuff had been mentioned earlier, ie. Drew's glasses. I honestly have no idea about that one, I'd like some more specific information about when it happens because I just can't make it happen myself. Believe me, I -want- to fix this stuff asap.

The wolf head thing - I think that's a general bug, not related to the scripting because it makes no sense whatsoever. I just can't figure it out @_@ If anyone has any ideas... please tell me!

Spoiler
As for the ringmaster not changing after you get rid of his troupe, unless the seal was the last one you got rid of, you have to exit and re-enter the circus tent for him to change
[close]

The ladder bit had been fixed already. People that downloaded the game straight away will have that problem but noone else.

OK... did that address them all? I think so. I'm still checking things but there are a few things like Drew's glasses that I just can't make sense of. The script seems fine to me, I just can't find any loop hole that would cause that. Please give me as much information as you can on these things.

By the way, with the wolf head... did you get an error message? If so, can you tell me exactly what it said? Thanks ^_^

Spoiler
There's no 'sunscreen' as such, but you can give him something that looks like it
[close]

One other thing... I don't really mind but it seems like the mods might prefer us to keep hint requests in the Hints forum. I don't want to be the gang leader of a bunch of forum hoodlums or anything! ^_^

Hmm, it definitely isn't a scripting error. Not on my part anyway. I don't know how to fix that or exactly what's going on. I can only assume it's just a bug with the engine or something.

Possible bug?!

I'm replaying the game, and I've done pretty much everything. I've got everyone to join the circus except the mother. Every time I try to show her the deed it says "it isn't time yet". She's got the doll, and she's agreed to give me the kids as soon as I show her proof I can take care of them.... so why can't I show her the deed.

(I've got the wizard, pimp, bear and comedian who all agreed to come. The only items I have left are the colouring book (Which I know is used in the tower), the fishing rod, the wolf head (which I've already used) and the deed)....

Not mother trouble again... it's the same as last time. The script seems 100% fine. I have no idea why this would have happened. When did you download the game? I have changed a couple of things and reuploaded it since I first posted the link. Maybe that bug exists in an earlier version.

Peter, would you care to add a little something to this thread: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=13193;start=0#msg158010

:) You could explain what's happening best given that it's happening to you and not me, and it would save a lot of back and forthing. Basically we just need to know how often this is happening to you and whether it's just this one problem etc...

Post by: Peter Thomas on Fri 16/04/2004 04:28:40
ohhhhh..... don't worry about it...

Alright, I'm sorry to all the people that experienced problems with giving things to the mother or to the cricket player. They shared a common problem and after hours of searching, I found the one tiny piece of code that was affecting it all. It's now fixed (along with a lot of other things) and v1.2 of the game (wouldn't it be nice to imagine that it'll be the last??) is now being uploaded as I type. If anyone wants to get themselves a copy of the game that works properly, you may now do so.

I never did experience that problem with Drew's glasses though...

I believe I'm stuck, perhaps from a walking dead.

Spoiler
I am on the tropical Island, and have found everything for the Engineer except for the blue-leggo block. Now here's the problem...I only have a tin of seal, and I'm getting the feeling I needed to use that somewhere in the other part of the game, but I apparently never got around to doing it, and still moved forward. I also never got rid of the seal at the circus.

So is there something I should be looking for, on this island, that I haven't found? Or is this a bug?

So far the game has been enjoyable. The dialog has it's moments. And I enjoy how you mock adventure games. However, until I finish the game, I can't really give a complete review on what I think.

Ahhh. Well, if you're willing to download it again, the new version (1.2) should be free of all those bugs people told me about. I -hope- there aren't anymore... @_@ Sorry about releasing a buggy version in the first place! I thought me and my beta crew had found them all.

You can't catch em all. As long as you recognize them and do something about them, you're okay in my book. When I have time to download the new version and play it again, I will.

I downloaded it some days earlier, didn't have time to play it fully.

Lot's of things to do :)
I plan to make lengther game myself but I realize I wont play games like I will do, because I never have time to play long games, I only downloaded most of the shorter ones !

Anyway , Cirque looks fun and nice  !

One little thing, that bothered me, hum didnt make me feel at ease ( I am not sure of the sentence, I am not english , so dont take it baaaad please !! ), that odd thing was this :

Looksalike may happen I must say, but it is quite the same body from foot to head except for the clothes. To build one single and original game you shouldn't have been too much inspired by this other classic.
Maybe the weird walk circle comes from this fact too, as you didnt recreate it well or something, working on your own character would have been less difficult, as you are its mother somewhere, you know it better.

Or maybe animation is just not your "thing" I won't say anything more, because drawing and animation is not really my stuff to and I really suck at it :)

This is only my point of view ... about this little thing, but I repeat that THAT IS A GREAT game,  dont get offended please !

Ask someone to moderate my post if you were, I didnt want to be rude
Title: Re:Cirque De Zale
Post by: Kinoko on Mon 19/04/2004 14:39:06
No, no, that's fine. It's no secret, I used the exact same pixels in the face as the original Guybrush. It was completely contrived (if that's a good word to use) so that the game really did have that original feel. When you're working with so few pixels, it's very hard to try and achieve the same "look" without doing it exactly. ^_^ I used Guybrush as a "muse" for the height and stance but it's not copied. The only thing copied pixel for pixel is the face, the rest was like sketching.

I didn't want to create a completely original game, I wanted to create my own story that was nostalgic of the old Monkey Island (and another game that absolutely noone has mentioned so I won't say it myself).

The walk cycle had nothing to do with the original, it was like the first thing I ever animated. I know it looks a little weird, I don't think it's bad though... @_@ How many people are amazing animators off the bat with no training?

I truly hope this doesn't ruin too much of the game for you. It was supposed to be like this, I wasn't trying to create a game for the commercial market - just for fun and as a tribute to my favourite game(s).

I'll just add my Congrats on a really great game Kinoko.
The attitude of the main character really reminded me of "The chronicles of Thomas Covanant" well, except for the leprosy.  (actually I've only read half of the second book actually, so my impression of it is probably pretty scewed. )
The lack of motivation for the main character made for a truely refreshing adventure.

Just finished playing it... ah, 'twas a thing of beauty.
I really liked Alexander's attitude and the way fate treated him... sort of a mix between Simon the Sorceror, Eric Cartman and Cerebus the Aardvark. ;D

Oh, and Crazy Meg's dialogue ruled. Hahahaha. Hahahahaha!!!

I love this game. Great graphics, great characters, great humour. Its only real failing was the easy puzzles, but it more than made up for it in awesomeness in other areas.  Definitely in my top two favourite AGS game so far this year.  Are you working on another game yet? I look forward to seeing more of your work.

EDIT: here (http://www.adventuregamers.com/underground/gameinfo.php?id=360)'s my review of it for Adventure Gamers. It basically says the same thing as this post, only in slightly more detail :)

I also have received an error message.  Sorry but I had posted in the Technical Forum. :-[

After poisoning the pie and given it to the guilders, I saved my game but afterwards I keep getting this error message:

An error has occurred. Please contact author for support as this problem is cause by game rather than the interpreter.
(ACI version 2.60.693)
(Global script line 661)
(Error: SetActiveInventory: player doesn't have any of that inventory).

I reloaded the game 3 times and still get same error message.

Is there anyway to continue with the game?

Thanks and I hope I posted in the right forum.

Where is the new/corrected version? I don't mind restarting the game.

Hmm, I'll check that problem out when I get home (I'm at uni right now), thanks for letting me know. Which version have you got, btw? (it should say in the readme file).

Yours was the first AGS game I was really waiting for after seeing the first posts in the critics lounge - and I wasn't disappointed. This one really is a blast!!! Excellent.

Oh, and perhaps I can make your next day by telling you, that Alex reminded me a lot of Philip J. Fry... which is great, because he's one of my favourite cartoon characters.

EDIT2: Oh, and AGA... I do have plans for 3 more games at least. It's just a matter of working out which one to do first. The main story was fine, but some things were a little too obvious, anyway, you did a great game

I haven't been stuck a second, seen some bugs :

Spoiler

1/ the dog turns into a blue AGS cup for one or two frames when using it on the cat
2/ On the main place in town, when you use inventory item on "nothing" ( on street per example ) zale walks all the way left before moonwalking in front of the magician. I was near the pimp when I accenditaly perform this.

I have 2 bugs to report.
Spoiler
1)At first I didn't know that you can go to the circus screen from the cricket playground, so I solved all the puzzles that didn't need visiting the tent:
-gave picknick basket to pimp
-got the pamphlet from an old man
-gave little bike to Damien the bear :)
-gave troll doll to mother
And then i found out about the circus thent, and inside I gave the pamphlet i got from the pimp to the woman, and picked up sunscreen from the box. But then I couldn't give the sunscreen to the player. I restarted the game and picked up suncreen right away and gave it to the player.

2)on the beach i talked to the worker, picked up the martini glass and hat, gave them to worker, then i picked up the umbrella, and also gave it  to worker, in the jungle I gave the fishing rod to that little guy, and he gave me his weapon. One screen later i used the weapon on the big bird and the game crashed. Too bad i didn't save the game. :'(

I just got round to playing it, and it was very impressive, played it all through in one sitting, got stuck a few times but eventually fuggered it all out.

I enjoyed the story and loved the attitude of Alexander (except for his feelings for cricket) excellent job, and I'll be looking forward to whatever else you decide to release, keep up the great work.

I havnt finished the game yet, but I have noticed a few things.
*Like eric said the speed is a little slow. Maybe have an option to change it would be nice, and not too hard to implement.
*Its probably a bit late now, but although most of the art is of a very high standard, there are a few backgrounds that dont quite fall into the quality of the others.
*The lack of much different background music at times anoyed me. Like during the intro, I was expecting some carnival tune to come on, but there was not much sound at all. (ok, listening again, there is music during the game... either something broke, or my speakers were turned down...  :P)
*I found a bug, I'm sorry if its been mentioned already: If you walk into the Potion Building and before you get in the door, click somewhere else, Alexander walks to where you clicked, but still enters the room (I found this by seeing the cat as i clicked to enter the house and going 'Hey, thats where the cat is... and clicking again...)
*I don't know if this is to do with your game or AGS, but if I alt-esc out and go into windows, and come back, all speech etc only briefly flashes up on the screen. I found that saving the game and restoring it fixed the problem. (also, this doesnt happen all the time... weird)
*This has been mentioned, but when you use the dog on cat, the dog turns into the blue cup for a few frames..

Anyways... love the game, and I am still having fun playing it. Awesome work with the humour. Good luck with future games.

Once more, an new version is up -_- At least from the secondary url (http://www.anime.com.au/Katt/misc/cirque.zip) as I don't have access to the other ftp account just yet. Both links should point to the new version by tonight.

v1.3 - Hopefully, I've fixed the cottage door problem, the dog turning into a blue cup problem and the problem that allowed you to get to the island without getting the fishing rod. They all baffled me, there didn't seem to be any specific thing wrong that I could see, but I think I've managed to get around them anyway.

If there are any more problems, PLEASE let me know. ^_^ Argh, this is so frustrating. When I make my next game, I'll know better than to release the game without checking things thoroughly.

I don't know if this has been said before, but I'll post this anyway. I don't think I have to read seven pages just to find out if a bugfix has been made... So, if I try to give that fellow in the island the hat, the martini glass, the lego block, or whatever, the game will crash with a message that says that it can't find the appropriate item, or something like that.

Once again I have to say ^_^;;; ...

Which version do you have? Check the readme file. v 1.3 is the latest and I don't -think- is has the island problem. It's hard for me to tell because these bugs just pop up and don't make a lot of sense to me most of the time. Also, most of the time they only seem to happen to one or two people and I can't make them happen myself.

As I said - a couple of things. I think it's already been mentioned - but the dog turns in to the blue cup when he goes after the cat - and also where ever the dog is, he has several white pixels on his sprite. Is that island the exact same background as Mi2? I thought it would be some gag like - 'Hey - how did I get here with herman toothrot' or something - it looks exactly the same - I would have prefered a different island background

Also, in version 1.3 Kinoko said that she fixed that dog sprite thing. And I think its a different island. When I saw it I immediately thought of MI, but I think that Kiniko said that she was influenced by the MI games. I didnt mind.

And yes this game is very cool.

Ah, sorry for not metnioning that, my version is indeed 1.1  ::)

Wow - Just finnished it and I must say that this is probably the best independent game I have played in years. It's already in my top 5 AGS.

Also I have to say - I had a little look at your online comic - the artwork is superb. Being a cartoonist also (a crap one) I can safely say you have heap much talent . . rock on Kinoko.

P.s you know it's a good game when you begin quoting it before youv'e finished it - Your a spooky kid kinoko and I have to leave (or something like that.)

A great game! I had lots of fun with it.

I would love to support such a fine cartoonist like Kinoko, financially.
But payment and shipping is quite difficult and expensive. I hope my
ship comes in some time in the near future.

Anyway, thank you Kinoko for the great game.

We have conducted an interview with the talented Rebecca Clements (Kinoko) which you can read in the latest issue of The Inventory (PDF magazine for adventure games). You can download the latest issue as well as older ones for free here:

Version 1.4 is now available for download. Not that I expect you all to run out and update it, there was only one small tiny change. There was one little bit of code in the MI2 template that was causing the occasional bug. If you've had a problem with this inventory-based bug, then I can tell you with no certainly at all that it is most definitely probably fixed to my knowledge.

Your game is horrible, awful, terrible, looks like hell, is not fun to play, I want my money back (on a free download), you owe me 3 hours of my life back, you lazy, sexy fraud.  I'm mad as hell.  I can't believe this game gets such praise.  It sucks!  It's horrible!  The Elephant Poo in the intro was more interesting than the whole game!  Alexander looks like a twad!  The jokes are lame!   ;)

Oh, thanks for the shout out in the inventory, you're a doll.
;D

Bt

(Now, for the ruin of sarcasm, YES, I was entirely joking for those of you who fail to read satire well.  This game is so excellent, it blew my colon out my nose, and now my friends call me poop-schnozz.   How's that?)

I just had to say, that yours is one of the best adventure games I have played. It was extremely funny and every moment was enjoyable (instead of the occasional points that occur where you are either bored or frustrated). I did encounter the item bug but I haven't checked the new version to see if it would fix it. It didn't effect me being able to eventually complete the game though. You seem to have loads of talent and let's hope we see another soon!  ;D

This game ruled hard. Not only did it look great, it was really very funny. I liked the personalities and the dialogue quite a lot. I am seriously very impressed. I can't wait for more games from you!

Before I forget, though, there was one thing I noticed:

Spoiler

When you use the dog on the cat, it turns into a blue cup for a few frames. I don't know if someone else mentioned it because I'm lazy and I didn't check. But if they didn't, I did so ha ha in your faces.

Pesty: That problem with the blue cup shouldve been fixed in version 1.3. You probably had an earlier version.

Oh and yes, the game was good. I can't wait for more of her games too.

Just finished this game and here are my thoughts:

The graphics were above an average AGS game but could've used some work here and there. I don't mean to be picky, it's just that some screens looked much better than others. Also, I would've preferred that the "rooms" weren't so close to each other in a straight line. It's like the whole thing was one huge long scrolling room. Unless it was meant to be that way?

For the most part the humour was fairly funny (with some exceptions), even considering that Zale is an ass. :P But I thought the "Zuropean" part with the immigrant comedian on stage was, unfortunately, lame and stupid with the "I am sorry, I not from this country" line, considering that there were some spelling mistakes in the game. I have friends from Europe that don't speak that great of English yet but they're fun and funny people to hang with. :P I don't know if Rebecca is bitter against Europe in some regard but I thought that part was uncool...

Other parts were pretty fun though and I wish Rebecca luck in making "Cirque 2" an enjoyable game to play. Thanks. ;)

Use the wolf's head on the little riding hood and give her basket to the pimp. I really don't remember next, but I DO remember that you'll use the rod much later. There's something else you must use on the pie.

Speaking for Europe, we really didn't mind.

Sorry about your cat, Rebecca. We tried to swerve, but it was too late. Maybe you shouldn't have let it running loose all over our streets.

It's a good game, definately. I liked the humour, but there are some issues I wish to mention, simply because I can.

- The insides of buildings shouldn't have rastered colours. Why? Don't know exactly, but it doesn't look good. The rest of the graphics are definately above average, but those rasters were... A breach, to say the least.
- The second part, on the island, seems to have been rushed and was a bit too short. It was a shame that it was so easy to find the martini glass, hat and umbrella. Even though I liked the fact that Zale said "this is going to be difficult" and then proved to be actually easier than finding a sock on your foot, he didn't respond as... satisfying as I would've liked.

But then again, I'm a naggy old bastard, who happens to be from Europe, and not regarding my patriot feelings, the Zurope joke was a cheap shot :)

Hello, I kept mulling over downloading this game and finally decided to do so. The circus idea didn't really appeal to me, but I am sure glad that I did! I have to say this is now my second favourite AGS game. It has to be number one for comedic dialouge though. Had me laughing the whole way through. Especially the bit about the princess at the end.
Congrats on making such an awesome game you really should feel proud. Can't wait to play more of your games in the future.
Cheers.

I'm glad you eventually gave in to your innermost desires... er, well, I'm glad you eventually decided to download it anyway ^_^ Glad you liked it!

Thanks for the comments, voh. I was annoyed the end had to be so short too, but I'd already spent more time than I wanted on it by that stage :) Like I've said before though, when I make the sequel, I'll try to make it the way I think it needs to be made regardless of the amount of time it takes.

I've heard a lot about this game but I too wasn't convinced on the whole circus idea (sorry  ;)).

And I hate clowns... that's not a job to be proud of.

Er, anyway... I downloaded Cirque de Zale and I gotta say it's bloody good :D
I love the humour and the style - it reminds me a lot of Simon The Sorcerer, which is a good thing...

Keep up the good work, I look forward to playing the sequel or any other games you make.

10/10

I really loved this game a lot. It seemed to be missing a few animations here and there and it could have used more variety in music and better sound, but the characters and art were amazing. I really loved the humor in this game, and the story. I can't wait for a second.

Hey there - this was the first game I tried after finding this site. And it's good! I was surprised how much I really liked it, considering that, for whatever reason, I was fully expecting to hate and be embarressed by it. For the most part it felt like it was being written by a funny, clever person, as opposed to someone *trying* to be a funny, clever person (the difference between the first two Monkey Island games and the second two, if you ask me), and it pretty much nails the old-fashioned atmosphere it's obviously aiming for. That slightly off-kilter music is pretty cool, too.

It would be great if you end up doing some follow ups. It might be a good idea to make the puzzles a bit more complex, though - Oddyseus Kent (the other great game I tried) had this game beat in that respect. This one'll be staying on my hard-drive though.

Just wanna say anyone who lives in SA the game was loaded onto
