Well, that was super dumb, but kinda funny at the same time. The puzzles were... kinda weird, but considering it's so short, a bit of trial and error is perfectly okay, especially for a game done in just three days. I especially like the graphics... I guess the "title screen" would have taken me three days alone.

I played the german version, and there was one thing that was totally out of character in my opinion.

Spoiler
The "Ah, deshalb quietscht das immer so beim Vögeln". A bit too crude, I think. I realize that it's supposed to be the joke, but still.

Just a little hint:

Some puzzles can be solved in totally different ways...

Ooooh? Bonus marks for alternate solutions!

Spoiler
Something with the chandelier, the fire or the armor, perhaps? Those were the only things I considered red herrings... I think I used everything on it.

Well, there IS a thread in the hint section... anyway...

Spoiler
You should already have the item in your inventory... maybe you just didn't find it yet.

Guess I should've read the readme.  :P

I found one!

Spoiler
You can also open the tapestry by shooting the chandelier and using a shard.

That version of the riddle makes much more sense, so I have to take back what I said about wacky puzzles above. Also, the line I considered way out of character above is much better in the english version.

Oh, could you give me a hint for the other alternate puzzles?

That's what I did. I didn't find out about the cat solution until yesterday.

This game rocks!
Graphics may be a bit too blurry and 1 - 4 frames isn't what I'd call an animation, but classic music, funny plot & mixed with nonsense makes it fun.
It's a quick (finished it in about 15-20 minutes) "mood repairing" program... I'd like to see sad/angry person who will stay in same mood after playing this game a little bit.
Great work.

Maybe, but I think they fit perfectly to the game. I couldn't imagine this game beeing fully animated with reduced smoothless graphics. It needs this kind of reduction because of its velocity.

Perhaps 1-4 frames is not enough to create a Walt Disney like animation, but I think it is more important to give an impression of what is happening during a movement. And this was very well done. I like the visual artwork of this game.

I liked the game personally.
I enjoy the use of classical music in these games.
It especially sets the mood very well.

Well done Le Woltaire.

Heh, you have a flair for making pretty unique games!  I enjoyed playing through Masters of Sound as well as this one.  Looking forward to the search for his comb... :=

Very nice little game. The art, especially, is appealing, and the writing is spot-on. The use of classical music was an unexpectedly nice touch, as well. The fact that it was made in three days makes it all the more impressive.

:-[ I don't know if there's a bug in my game or if I'm not doing things right but I just CAN'T access the inventory! How do you do this?? I can't pick up things either: when I click in the shotgun, he doesn't take it, he doesn't take the matches or the plank under the bed... Have no idea of what to do...

Stuck, did you check if there was a readme file when you downloaded game, I somehow remember the game coming with instructions, but I found this on hints & tips about picking up stuff

When "use" is active the cursor is a flat hand that is viewn form the side.

When "take" is active its a hand that grabs something from above.

So there are two hand icons.

You have to right click four times to get the take icon. Try to go under the bed once more right click four times until the grab icon appears. Then move over the bed until the word "board" in singular appears and left click. He'll take the board. If you used the "use" icon instead he'll run an animation and say that he might be able to take it.

Gee, thanks!! I was clicking the items with the wrong "hand" icon... I didn't realize there was one for TAKE and one for USE... How stupid I was Ã, :P

I just wanted to mention, that I managed to delete all bugs in the game now.

The game has been proofread by Ieremiou.
I also added sound effects and shortcuts for the actions.

A full length sequel to the game will be posted in a week.

So, if somebody is interested in the sequel, this would be a good time to play the game to have the background for the next part, because it is a continuing story...

I don't understand. Does it mean you deleted all bugs and proofread et all *this game*, Earl Bobby is Looking for his Shoes? And if so, do you plan to upload it? Have you already uploaded it? Does the old link now link to the new and updated version, bug-fixed and proofread? Or is this a reminder to anyone who hadn't downloaded it yet, and are those changes in fact rather old?

Post by: Le Woltaire on Tue 16/01/2007 21:34:42
My post means:
The changes are new and the game is uploaded.
The link is the same.
I got some complains about grammar and spell errors and bugs.
So I corrected them and by the way added the sounds.
But not so important, if nobody cares.......

I'm about to redownload it, because I want to have up-to-date versions of all my games, so someone cares. :)

Anyway good job.

I remember this one, and will update too! Loved it, and am very excited about a full length sequel!

BTW I understood your post perfectly.

Oh, I understood it, but I wanted to make sure. Usually these things have an update on the 1st post saying the version the game is at. I wouldn't want to redownload what I already have, and saw no real info on what the uploaded version was. So I asked for clarification.

I added voices to the game.

This is meant to be a test, because I would like to add voices to the other Earl Bobby game as well.
I wanted to ask, if someone recognizes a terrible german accent.

INFO:
It's not my real voice.
I made many strange things with my nose, ears and the micro to manipulate it.

Nice addition!
There is only a slight accent (I think you would say "ein helles A"). But it is a perfect match for Bobby. It was also good to play with the nose and other, hmm: items when recording the voices. I had a good laugh.

BTW I thought you were Italian?

I am so.
But I come from the very north of Italy where German is quite common as well.
But I can speak English with a slight Italian accent too.
Just have to switch my brain a bit.

Er...

I didn't get exactly what you want me to do...
Do you tell me, that you have a broken F5 key on your keyboard and want me to release a special edition of the game, that uses another key to save it?

Or...

Do you tell me that there is a bug and my whole save system doesn't work for you and maybe others.

Didn't understand exactly...

Well you didn't disturb me in any way...
I just didn't get what you want exactly...

So you have a problem with your "new" keyboard and the F5 key?

I could easily transfer the saving process to another key, but I don't know if it makes sense for a game that is so short.

Basically you shouldn't need any saving in this game because there are just a few puzzles to be solved...

I suggest that you take a look at the walkthrough for the game, that I released on my side if you get really stuck and can't save your game for some reason.

Hope you're having fun with whatever you're doing...
