Predator Productions proudly presents:

The year is 1846.

The first settlers have reached California, and the United States are at the brink of war with Mexico. These are troubled times. And in these times, people look for a hero.

What they got was an outlaw.

Are you man enough to fill his boots?

Coyote is a short game that started as a little sideproject to TMC. It wasn't really going anywhere, but when I decided to use the idea for a school assignment, things got done (deadlines are great!). So here it is, my first completed game with AGS! :)

Like I said, it's a short game. It's a sort of introduction to the world of The Coyote - a prequel, if you will, to a future full-length game.

Featuring:
- Handpainted 640x480 graphics!
- Full voiceacting with 314 lines of spoken dialog!
- Gritty cowboy stuff!
- Authentic cowboy slang!
- Shiny objects!

Minimum requirements:
- A Pentium processor with at least 700 Mhz
- 64 MB RAM
- About 90 megabytes of hard disk space
- Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or Vista with DirectX 5 or above
- Any DirectX-compatible sound and video card

Good game, even though a bit short :-)

Ultra Magnus

That was a very nice short game.
Great background art, and some pretty good voice work, too.

Congrats.
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

I'm tired of pretending I'm not bitchin', a total frickin' rock star from Mars.

Leon

Nice. I liked the atmosphere created for a great part by Ennio but it goes very well with the graphics. The voices were good. The walkcycle/navigation could use some attention because I repeatedly 'moonwalked' to locations...(especially in the cellar). But: congratulations. Looking forward to the full/rest of the story.

This really looks great, trying it out.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

SuperDre

Just played it, looks great (could do with some more frames of animation), was pretty fun to play..
Next time try not to use words like f*ck*n and sh*tbag, I personally don't mind, but keep in mind that maybe younger (or more sensitive) people are also playing the game, the words didn't add anything to the story or ambiance.. try substituting those words with 'filthy dirtbag' or something like that..
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.. thanx for making this little game public..

Wow, that was great!  It's almost too good for being so short, and worth at least two playthroughs.  As others have said, the walk animation really needs more frames, its jerkiness stands out against everything else.

Some of the puzzles felt a little too cliche, I would like to be a little more stumped in the full game.  Then again, it seems like the choices might be more important than the puzzles, which could be refreshing.

Thanks guys! Yeah I forgot to mention that, it does contain a few swearwords. Good looking out.

And yeah, the animation can be a bit funky sometimes. The jerkiness gets quite apparent when Coyote is scaled up, and the moonwalking is a result of there not being a dedicated up-down walkcycle (it's just the frames from the left-right :)). But improving those would have delayed the game even more, so I'll just fix that for episode II.

And the puzzles might be a bit uninspired because I wrote the story before I worked on the puzzles. Fitting them in afterwards is always a pain. But nowadays I do it parallel, so that should improve in the next game.

Let me know if you have any other feedback!

Apart from the walkcycle , I'm voting a 10 out of 10 for atmosphere if you put it on the game database!! Really nicely drawn and well done!!

I also enjoyed this mini game, very nice indeed, some well spent minutes.
Good stuff: atmosphere, voice, sound, music and graphics
average-to-good stuff: a bit too easy on the puzzles and the game being too short, animations too simple
There aren't many games set on the wild west and that's a shame but your game is very well accomplished and I'm looking for the next chapter.
Working on a RON game!!!!!
