The last one got purged, so the Hour Game thread is back with a vengance!!!1
This is mine, http://www.sylpher.com/helm/Pyramid.zip
This is butchers, http://www.geocities.com/kyriakosthebutcher/2000.zip
this is commatoes' http://www.tbns.net/commatoes/terlethour.zip
and this was Grundislav's http://www.agagames.com/grundislav/games/hourgame.zip
The topic was "Humourous and absurd main character deaths". This went alright.
If you want to make a new contest, hop on to #ags and propose. Somebody's guhguhCommatoesguhguh always available for a Hour Game. If you want to add to an existing topic, do so. If you want to tell us something about the Hour Games, this is the thread in which to do it.
Genious!
-MillsJROSS
I really enjoyed being consumed by Leonard Maltin's floating head!
the shark one was great too! and what an ingenious place to hide the fishing rod!
but I'm STUCK IN PYRAMID! honestly! I can't do anything! is this the game? you're supposed to die trying to find what to do?
;)
(i am REALLY stuck!)
USE jeep, walk up, USE crowbar on stone slab.
A world of thrilling adventure and daring ensues...
However, to get the crowbar you must click ctrl-I, and it's black and really small, so it's next to impossible to find there.
Bad Helm! :)
DAMN! I must have tried every key combination except that!
DAMN YOU HELM! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
No wiseass. The whole jeep will do. Check.
Okay, I tried my own hour game out, using the same theme as the first four hour games in this thread. Now geocitites is being an ass so I had to put the file in my school web space, which I'm sure is in some way not allowed, but what the hell, I want to release the game, I don't want to wait on one small file to not load. I am giving a link to the school one and the geocities one, that way if I get geocities to take my file I can quickly remove mine before it might be detected, though I doubt it will I really don't know. Enjoy.

http://www.geocities.com/millsjross/Hour.zip
-MillsJROSS
I meant after you used the hand on the jeep, Helm. To use it, you must press ctrl-I, and to find it in there, you must click randomly in the black box because the crowbar is 2 pixels tall/wide.... unless you updated it before you put up this thread.
If anyone needs a walkthrough to my game.... there's no hope for you.
But inventory items are usually always displayed left and top, so I got it first click, esseb. It did take me a while to figure out that whole inventory thing, and after so many diffrent thoughts of what it could be I finally hit upon it and...well...I won't ruint he endind.
-MillsJROSS
I dunno about you guys, but I hit TAB for the inventory gui. Anyway, esseb is partially right, this confusion is all due to the fact that I was too bored to make a closeup graphical representation of the crowbar.
In many ways I consider this my flawed masterpiece...

Chrille that game was quite um... different to say the least. I must need therapy because I thought it was funny. :)
Is there even a way to beat this game, because I've died like six times, and I won't waste my time if there really isn't an ending. Good game otherwise, Chrille.
-MillsJROSS
Hehe there is an ending. To survive the barn you have to hide before the bad guy enters the barn.

As always...
GAH!
We made hour games on November 7th, approximately 8:30pm EST, the rule was it had to feature a talking plant. Here is my entry:

Okay, another one, with the flower theme.

You might have to copy an paste, as I used Angelfire. Sorry guys.
-MillsJROSS
Guys, can you please name your games? I'm sick of hour.zip files in my ags/games/hour folder
Today, the first hour game gauntlet was held on IRC. We were supposed to make five hour games in six hours. We failed miserably, except CommaToes, who made games for all three themes. (we didn't even get to five)
#1: The game must contain Al Lowe.
CommaToes: http://www.agagames.com/commatoes/Asland.zip
Ghormak: http://www.agagames.com/ghormak/gmk_onehour.zip
Myself: http://konterbande.org/bah_x_3.zip
#2: The game must contain a fork and a greasy rag as inventory items.
CommaToes: http://www.agagames.com/commatoes/whack.zip
#3: The main character must be an AGS user.
custard: http://www.btinternet.com/~ctswin/custard1h.zip (http://www.btinternet.com/~ctswin/custard1h.zip)

Thank you and good night.
I was bored, so I made another hour game.
MONKEY MOUNTAIN!!! (http://animutation.mixnmojo.com/monkeym.zip)
Someone in the chat room told me to make an hour game.
I've never made a game before.
So, this is my first time out of the nest.
And in the tradition of hour games, it took me two and a half. (Do making graphics count as the time, if not it's only and hour and a half)
And yes it's based on a Roald Dahl story.
http://itsgravy.keenspace.com/extra/game/1hour.zip (http://itsgravy.keenspace.com/extra/game/1hour.zip)
sorry about the name
Well, Yesterday I attempted to make an hour game at the same time as Earwigz and Scotch, with the theme "Little girls break into a weapons factory and decommision all the weapons"(Guess who provided the topic)
Anyway, mine took 3 hours, but has a lot less hentai than the others, and a lot more quality animations. ::)
The Berry Battalion (http://magstip.topcities.com/berry.zip)
EDIT : URL Changed to version with no bugs. You may have to right click and 'save as' though.
Here is my shameful, sell out, happy go lucky Japanese style hour game based on the theme "A group of little girls break into a munitions factory". It features all these great things :
1. Absolutely NO animation what so ever, except for talk animations.
2. A total of 1 room!
3. 3 main characters, and you can actually play one of them!
4. Badly drawn little girls.
5. Horrible, stereotypical dialogue.
Enjoy this game by Earwigz Imperial Toy Consern, "Happy Happy Terror Girl"

BONUS POINTS FOR ANYONE WHO CATCHES THE FLUFFLING REFERENCE!
Okay, we had an hourgame jam today, with the rules:
1. Game must feature worship in some way.
2. Game must feature breasts in some way.
3. Game should feature a box in some way.
Here's (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=464) my submission, simply titled 'Box.'
http://konterbande.org/preeee.zip
I didn't know about the breasts bit... just assume they're there, but invisible
nice one aga! is this 1 hour thing still running?
woodz
er, not this one. but if enough people are interested, we start another one...
its not an offical 1 hour game just for fun really.
i can't lie...it took slightly longer than 1 hour :-[ but hey i learnt some stuff! ;D its probs a bit naff but it is my first finished game!

Here's a small game a made for an hour-game competition with Grundislav and Fuzzpilz. The rules were: Gold has to be mentioned in a game (this came from a Goldmember discussion, naturally :-)), there had to be a baseball bat and the main character had to have some kind of strange superstition. Strange enough, it took me only an hour and a half for this masterpiece. Ha!

Here's mine:

About 50 minutes... no music this time.
hey you missed ".com" out of your link Harvester , or was it part of the game? ;)

I was a bit bored on IRC and the hour games have gone a bit quiet, so I decided to do one.. but nobody else was around to compete against so I'm the only one. Anyway, here it is, took 3 hours in the end - http://www.agagames.com/scotch/hopscotch_(jear_grou).zip (http://www.agagames.com/scotch/hopscotch_(jear_grou).zip)
It has a puzzle, and an original walk cycle and language!

Worship it like a cult leader.
Can anyone give me a hint about the puzzle in Scotch's game? I really have no clue what is going on...lol. ;D
ha
ha ha? ??? :P
OMG it's been over a year sice a last hour game competition. You people got to start doing this from other places than irc.
that remindes me
*czar opens DC++ and then goes on http://www.sylpher.com/kafka/agswb/
lakerz: No! You are meant to be lost as to what is going on. But the puzzle can be solved (nobody has told me that they have, though it's not hard)
Thanks Scotch for replying. I still can't figure out the puzzle, but I'll come back to it again I'm sure. 8) Maybe I'll have an epiphany.
So let me get this straight...Any of us can start an hourgame anytime we like as long as it is finished in an hour? And based on the set subject? Then we post it here? Right?
Yes.
It's most fun for a number of people to do it at once and compare at the end though.
so, anyone up for an ms paint0rz hour gayme?

Scuse me for the stupid question, but what exactly is an hour game? Was it created in an hour? Should you be able to complete it in an hour? Does it take an hour to download ;) ? And where does one find the contest rules on the web?
(and it may be nice to add the answers to the first post in this thread, or something)
Made (art, programming and all), in under an hour.
As for contest rules, we usually just make them up on IRC and go from there. However, most of the more recent entries seem to be 1 person deciding to do it on their own.
Erotic? Well, I suppose if I was a girl, maybe.
Or it shot oil...

I think I should do a 24 in 24 gauntlet.
Any takers?
http://www.geocities.com/myrrwyn/JavelinCatch.zip
Pretty dumb. I was very bored.
Haha, great stuff Erenan. And you did that in an hour? Heh, definately one of the most innovative AGS games ever :D
We had a small hour game compo at IRC. The rules were the following, set by Hajo:
Theme: Awkward silences.
Restrictions: At least two characters, 3 dialog options and a locked door.
Here's my entry: http://koti.mbnet.fi/mwe/game_zip/Balls.zip
Here's pmdee's entry: http://koti.mbnet.fi/mwe/ags/pmdee_hourgame.zip
Enjoy...
Anyway you could announce an hour competition here a couple of days in advance, giving the exact time the rules will be posted, then more people can enter. e.g. Me ;)
Wretched, you see hour games usually aren't designed beforehand like that. They're usually being started quite spontaneously on AGS irc channel when we feel like it. :)
Or well, I don't know how the others have arranged them, but that's what we did. :P
Or you could set a timewatch and just start doing one yourself on the spur of the moment. ;) Set yer own theme fer yerself.
Yeah, that's what I did. Except that I had no theme. I just made a game because I was über-bored, and then it occurred to me that it took only an hour to make.
There was an hour game thing announced in irc but I'm not sure if anyone really set ground rules. Anyway, I told someone I could make a quick shooter and they said do it so an hour and change later....
INTESTINATOR!
Yes, as the valiant pilot of the experimental Intestinator enter a man's bowels and save him from the horror of communist occupation and bizarre alien bosses.
I've also included the source code (which looks terrible) for those who would like to get an idea of how to do a simple shooter. I have commented it, but be aware that I threw this together in a very short time so the functions and such are not the way I would make them were I investing real time on it. The graphics are also haphazard since I spent a majority of the time on the code and the two chiptunes!
http://members.cox.net/progzmax/intestinator.rar
Actually we did set a certain topic, ProgZ. The theme was: Animals. Here are the entries:
Woof (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/files/Woof.rar) by Ginny. (574 kb)
The Secret Of Hamster Island (http://koti.mbnet.fi/mwe/game_zip/Secret_of_Hamster_Island.zip) by me, Pablo. (6.3 Mb)
Pmdee also made a game but AFAIK he didn't upload it. I didn't even get to play it. :'( He can put it here himself later if he feels like it.
Enjoy!
Well, here's my hourgame called
Suicide Quest.
I've spend about 2hr on it, so in its current state it may be considered "hourgame".

http://fsi3rd.smtp.ru/killereye.rar

I made an hour game Witness! (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?category=0&action=detail&id=785)
The rules were "You are a witness to a crime". That's all.
I actually completed it in about 4 to 5 hours. Left-click to examine, Right-click to talk.
