Screen7 are pleased to present Passage of Saints, a festive mini-game from the Fountain of Youth team. Wishing everyone a prosperous 2012, and thank you for your continued interest in FoY. Take it as it is, an extension to the much-loved Christmas animations with some silly fun and a little bit of point & clicking! This is version 1.0, so some interactions aren't included & there may be other rough edges for now.

Many thanks to the guys for taking up a lot of their holiday time working on this, and everyone who awaited PoS for so long (it's a bit overdue, yes  :=) Now it's time to focus our efforts back on the main game... We hope you get some enjoyment from this in the meantime!

OMG OMG!!! Why didn't anyone tell me this is already out!!??

Oh wait, I thought it's the Indiana Rodent game. Indiana Jones is soooo 80s.

I hope that was a sloppy case of sarcasm. We put a ton of work into this mini-game. We don't have to make these, but it's nice to do something a little different and celebrate our stuff with the community.
On behalf of Screen 7, I hope you all enjoy this years playable mini-game and kick off to a magnificent 2012!

Best wishes,
Paul & Co.

Miez

I do agree .... it is soooooo 80s. That's why I love it ;)

What's so sloppy about it? I thought it's sharp as nails.

Anyway, congrats on the release! Will play tonight.

Played and finished!
Nice little mini game! :D

Now finish the REAL THING! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oh right! You'll have to forgive me. Lol. I've always been really, really slow to that area of humor. ::)

We're hard at work on it.  8)

Anyway, glad to hear the FOYâ,,¢ project is still going strong.

Really awesome; and I'm still looking forward to The Fountain of Youth!  I know what it's like to work on a game for years and years, and I know you are cooking up something special there.

Thanks for the mini-game!

Is this also going to be available without the installer?

Unlikely, sorry! It's part of the package really..

Thanks for the comments folks :)

PS. Direct 3D 9 may not work with this game because apparently the old snow/rain plugin we've used isn't compatible. Switch to DirectDraw for now, and we hope to update PoS with a working particle system in the near future!

Khris

This is really pleasing to the eye as always, but what's with the crippled interface?

No right-click actions, only three verbs have shortcut keys, missing responses, can't use an inv item on another one?
There's a perfect* 9-verb GUI available, why not use it...?

Thanks for the comments Khris, I understand how cool it would be if all those little bits worked - so it was mostly because of the time frame (3 weeks, 4 people), we didn't include certain script (and have found out now that there's a problem with other things too). There's only so much people can do around Xmas and New Year, whilst working or doing other things...

We weren't trying to get every nicety in there in the first release, just something to see and do: in-fact, it was barely interactive at all originally :P But 3 weeks ago we decided to give it interactivity. And I pushed for the full GUI instead of the 3 button one that was used in Spheres. But that move added additional work for every team member: We wanted it done by Xmas eve but it was clear then, barely anything would do or say anything  := It wouldn't actually be a bad idea to pool resources in the future and get everyone to write some hotspots... Will consider that for the future :)

Feel free to provide the code for a generic response action if you have an easy solve for it and we'll include it in an updated version, there is still a small list of things we want to change/add/fix anyway so it's not "too late".

Basically you have to decide at some point, keep going? Miss release? Stop and show it? Fix everything? In this case the most important aspect for me was getting a 'festive' game out whilst it's still the festive season. And, as long as it looks good at least, doesn't crash...you can always update. That's why we have a studio3 version number, hopefully we can improve it - and you've already supplied several ideas for playing this version  ;D

Shadow1000

The game looks great but after about 40 minutes, I haven't been able to do ANYTHING at all in the game! I know this isn't the hints forum but can someone provide a clue as to where to start??

Dualnames

I have to say that I put in what I was given. I had no idea, people use keyboard shortcuts even. The interface works completely, but alas the lack of responses.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

You did fine Dual. You did very fine indeed.
Thanks again for the assist on such ridiculous short notice man.  :)
