Quote from: Nostradamuswhy does the game manual says under running instructions to put the game DVD in the drive and run the game from there?

I used the game as a college assignement and I handed it up on DVD, it's a leftover from that. I've given it to a few friends on DVD so I havn't changed it.

This game looks really cool and I'm so downloading it right now.

Just as a note, though, the conversation in this thread pretty much lets the cat out of the bag. I'm not sure if it's meant to be something you don't figure out until the end, but the summary seems like it was carefully crafted so as not to give too much away, so I thought I'd mention it.  :-X

Just played it. Well-constructed, but the punctuation was awful and

the whole concept seemed like the Reader's Digest version of the movie Jacob's Ladder.

Still, I enjoyed it, especially the keypad.

Argh, I spoiler-texted incorrectly, and I can't edit it. Sorry!

Hi Johanas!

The game Backgrounds look really good and the story seems intriguing. I so much want to play the game.

But my problem is:
I tried downloading the file and lost the net connection a couple of times. I'm currently trying to download and its saying "40 hours remaining".

Unfortunately filefactory doesn't support download accelerators. Is there an alternate mirror link?

Or you can try putting the file in quicksharing.com(read somewhere it supports accelerators & 300mb+ files) or splitting the file (separate music.vox) and putting them in AGS uploads. (If its possible)

Sorry for being so whiny but I do want to play this one.  :)

that keypad puzzle was the best puzzle since a myst puzzle
it's helping me to learn quantum symmetry :o

I just downloaded and played Purgatorio a couple days ago since it was mentioned on a GameSpot guide to freeware games. The care put into the graphics, choice of environmental photos, and the music is fantastic; really liked the contrast between the bars. And the

were great. Personally, I thought the strange torus-y layout worked here, and that it was strangely exciting to get to walk on the other side of a street... although, yes, a faster walkcycle or clickable map would've been better.

Agree with Shellz for the frustration involved if a player doesn't know to "look" at the keypad/verses; while keeping this game free of hotspot indicators works for setting the mood, it would've been appreciated here. Or, as suggested, just lines like "There's something strange about the keypad buttons." or "Maybe I should look at each verse on the page." Once you know the above, the puzzle is great.

Storywise, it's not entirely my cup of tea. I understood the general concept, but felt like while each part of the story advanced fine, when taken altogether, it fell flat for me. I felt like the highest stakes in the game occurred when

you get kidnapped, and in contrast, just finding and returning the records to the woman seemed like a pretty low-key way to get out of purgatory; it can be construed as a selfless act, but one that isn't particularly dangerous or difficult for O'Shea. And if the woman's brother was actually someone who had to go through the same "test" in this town, and he had the box to hide, it makes me wonder how he himself could have the possibility to leave through the woman's bar -- it wouldn't seem right if he didn't.

Overall, though, thank you for an interesting, atmospheric game; definitely worth the look.

The artwork looks nice, and it has a lot of interesting features, good work!

It was the look of the game that made me want to download it (finally did after an error at the website where you download it from. Silly website)

The atmosphere is good. Very creepy and suspenseful.
However I found the game to be very short once the code was out of the way. I did enjoy the code despite needing help to solve it (and I felt rather stupid after because it seemed so obvious! I did get two numbers right though ;) )
I think it would have been better if there was a bit more to do. Maybe the character should find some information about the "town" or something of the sorts. More red herrings (like the kidney, nice touch!). More puzzles.

Just my opinion though. Keep up the good work and keep improving :D

Something strange has happened in the game. I've walk around for a bit, entered an alley where I got hit on the head....ever since that a weird guy's on my trail and I can't shake him. Then I found and entered the bar, spoke to the girl and exchanged goods with her - then as I was to leave I discovered I was rooted to the spot, can't move in any direction and that annoying guy is moving back and forth all the time.

Am I missing something?

EDIT: I finally got out of the bar but this guy that keeps following my character is imparing the movements and it's really hard going anywhere. Am I suppose to loose him somehow; then how?

Just to say, due to many comments from the community, I've moved this game to the Short Games category. It really was more of an excercise in interesting artistic style and music than a lengthy game.
