You just don't seem to understand. This is not some extra plot. Almost the entire game is original stuff.

I'm not one of the authors, but I AM a member of the team.

I already expected that your opinion about remakes was based on the remakes Sierra did for the first games of their series. Yes, those were almost 1:1 remakes with updated graphics and sound. The SCI-remake of KQ1 was nearly a 1:1 remake as well. The same goes for KQ1VGA by Tierra; it's a 1:1 remake of the SCI-version.

KQ2+ is completely different from the remake principle that's used in the games you mentioned. It's hardly a remake, it's more like a retelling. Most of the locations you knew from the original are still there, but there are new locations as well. (such as a quest in an underwater realm and the existence of a town) There are some new characters and many of the old characters had their role significantly altered. It's possible that a character who used to be friendly now plays the role of a villain and vice versa. Many story aspects are tied to later games.

The renewal process of KQ2+ can't be compared to the renewal process Sierra performed on LSL1, QFG1, KQ1, PQ1 and SQ1. You might see my own statement as a bit biased, but other people around here aren't on our payroll, so there's no reason not to believe them when they say KQ2+ is radically different from the original.

Alright, I downloaded "kq2vga" today...I'll give it a try and give a REAL review of it later once I get some more hard disk space.

Byt hway ,

Is the sound pack contain all sounds, or just voices? Cause there aint no way in god's blue hell that i will download that fucking voice pak...unless ALL the sounds are stored in it.

i just hate retarded actors for adventure games. Like SIERRA's space quest vi (which was probably the best out of all the voice games, unless kq6 had voices) but my point is the games are better without voices to open minded people like me who can imagine and think for myself. I don't need some idiot acting it out for me. That just ruins it.

I feel sorry for the idiots....they could never truly enjoy anything.

Erpy

Yep, KQ6 had voices too and they were of high quality.

KQ2+ does not have voices. The sound pack simply contains the digital score. The music was created with the idea of digital music in mind and the MIDI-tunes that come with the game itself were more of a last-minute option for those with slow connections. The digital music pack is highly recommended. (also because AGS tends to mess up MIDI tunes every once in a while; too quiet or not looping correctly)

Tierra decided to stay clear of the addition of a voice pack because there was a large amount of lines that would have to be recorded and recording/editing/scripting in the voices would have taken too long. We were already one and a half month behind on schedule because of the intro movie.

The RPG Creat0r

Well so far, that's a plus then, if there's no voices.

VOICES SUCK!!!!!!!!

Nostradamus

Well in amateur adventure games it's better not to make them talkies. Not everyone is a good voice actor. Mot people aren't. You would enjoy the voices in your imagination better. And there are usually mic noises that blur the voice and such stuff.

hahahaha...this game must be cursed! everytime we try to talk about it..an arugement breaks out! hahaha

btw..I just downloaded it via my cable internet. I love it. It blowd the orginal KQ2 out of the water. Its hard though. I might need to ask for some hints later.

Maybe it's so much pure goodness that it makes us all insane.
Congrats Tierra. I love this game lots.

The game is excellent. One of the adventure game events of the year ;)

The game is a masterpiece. I want to marry it :)

Here's a finnish review I did of it... If someone feels like translating it, go ahead, but I won't do it :)

I can't wait for QFG2VGA...

Gonzo

Yeah, I just finished the original QFG2, awesome game. It'll be interesting to see it VGAerised by Tierra. I'm guessing that will be a faithful remake unlike KQ2VGA, as the story's pretty strong as it is...

Pet Terry

Yay! I finally got it! It's great so far :)

Um... uh... em...
I FOUND A BUG!!!111!
WHEN I QUICKLY GO TO THE BEACH AT THE BEGINNING AND QUICKLY SWIM LEFT I STILL SEE THE SHIP LEAVING AND WHEN I FOLLOW IT TO ANOTHER SCREEN IT'S DISAPPEARED! WHAT A BUGGY GAME!

hehe, great job! I only played it for some hours, and although it's somewhat conservative, I really enjoyed it. Unbeatable on technical level. Are you sure that you're Tierra, not Sierra?

Las Naranjas

I like what happens to Possum and the Grandmother.

It's not exactly unhappy, but it certainly isn't fairy tale happy. The Ambiguity there is wonderful.

I agree. That was my favourite part of the game.

Here I am..with an official review of Kq2 VGA. I finally got enough hard drive space to play it. (My damn game took up so much space, it filled up the rest of my hard drive) Well, anyway I have to say it's a pretty good game! I think it's a bit too easy, but oh well. I guess that's good considering I want to beat it quickly and I have no faq. I like a challenge though, so I hope it gets a little tougher. I am at the part where you must kill the two sharkee guards with the trident somehow. This game is definitly better than SIERRA's kq2, and it does make the game seem more like a game, but it still doesn't compare to kq6. You can tell it's generic and not a real sierra game...but it's not easy to notice. I noticed you put different backgrounds together. I thought you guys drew those yourselves. Did you draw any of them? Or are they are 3d rendered SIERRA backgrounds? I noticed you combined one from kq5 and kq6 to make a neat looking forest. Good idea actually if you suck at drawing. All in all this is a great remake and it brings back the memory of a good sierra game. I give it a B+ If the challenge had been a little greater, and the dialog a little more professional, maybe I would have givin it an A. Well, this must be my competition for AGS, so I'll just have to blow it out of the water. My game is gonna be HUGE!! And it's gonna have everything in it.

I`ve just managed to find the game on a CD (it is too big to download) and I think it`s great! I haven`t played much, but it will take my free time.
My first opinion is that the game is the greates AGS game.
