Title: MAGS Feb 2005: Pixel Hunt!

Despite the title, Pixel Hunt should not feature any pixel hunting. The game is set in a land of pixels, and puns on graphics terminology are at saturation level (see, there's one already!)

Pixel Hunt is a point-and-click adventure created with the AGS Adventure Game Studio for the Monthly AGS game creation competition, February 2005.

Pixel Hunt is a Crime game with 9 rooms, 8 characters, optional voice pack and various possible endings. The "optimal" ending scores 100 points. Other endings score according to number of deaths and number of bad guys caught.

Uncompress the ZIP file (http://www.ssh.me.uk/pixelhunt.zip) in a directory, and then double-click the Setup program before playing the game for the first time. Here you can set the usual AGS options: resolution, window/fullscreen and sound settings. If you want to hear the voice acting, unzip  the voice pack  (http://www.ssh.me.uk/phspeech.zip) into the same directory as the game, and it will be used automatically.

The game uses a Sierra-style interface: left-clicking the mouse on something will perform an action on it, right-clicking changes the action. You may also click on the buttons on the bottom of the screen to change the action, or interact with an inventory item to use it on another thing.

The source code of the game is also available at http://www.ssh.me.uk/phsource.zip This game was produced with the new Object-Oriented Style scripting in AGS 2.7 beta 17 (I'll probably update the version and tidy up the code a bit when the full 2.7 comes out). I hope that this source code will be helpful to someone else trying to write a game with the new scripting style.

It was good about 10mins to finish, the thing that made me laugh was colour blind was played when I died the first time ;D

Haha, it is so weird to hear my voice in a game. Nice work for one month, especially recording all those lines (liek 140! wow).

It should be worth replaying to experience the various endings and stuff. For example, did you use the phone before you left? Did you see the siege?

Very nice game,  very imaginative. However, I think I found a bug...

I used the chromakey on myself and tried to leave the hotel but I got a message about having to find tess first that constantly repeated and stopped me doing anything else so that I had to leave the game.

Hollowman, that should be fixed in v1.01.... what version number does it say on yours (bottom left of main gui)

Bug in version 1.02:
Error: too many events posted

That occured when I was trying trying to hide in the staff room on the 3rd floor twice in a row.


Other than that, nice little game, although the voices are too puffy at times.

Short but fun game.  I kinda liked all of the pixel puns!  I encountered a strange bug though regarding Pixel Hunt crashing when I was trying to save a game at certain spots.  FWIW, I'm running v1.02.

If you encounter a crash, please post the entire error message!
