Title: MAGS feb: Saddson Issein (now with music)
Post by: Timosity on Sun 23/02/2003 15:32:17
I've finally released my entry to February's MAGS competition.

The game is called "Saddson Issein"

You play Saddson, son of you know who.
I've changed names and locations in this game for humorous reasons.

I've put a lot of effort into this game so that everyone can enjoy it. I hope it doesn't offend anyone, There is minor coarse language and Adult themes, probably a PG rating.

The game is in High colour 640*400 but only for the characters faces really and a few other details.

The graphics are hand drawn and digitally coloured, not that well, but I wanted a child like look for it.

The introduction is a must see, also you need to watch it to get jokes later on. (it goes for 5 mins roughly) There's also a lot to take in, so you may understand more meanings after playing again.

If you know how to finish it it takes about 20 mins.

The puzzles aren't too hard (I think?) and there aren't too many puzzles in the game.

There is also an alternate puzzle depending on a certain situation, It happens in the 2nd stage of the game.

I can't hotlink from my site, so you have to go here to download it, sorry

If you get some error clicking on my link just try it again,
I just tried it and got an error, 2 seconds later I didn't.

the server may be busy

Also I only tested the game myself, I'm pretty sure ther are no bugd but who knows,

If you find any bugs, IM or email me

Thanks

Enjoy

The start is probably the hardest part of the game cause you have to do something unusual, the rest flows pretty well, (I think) I had to make it hard, but have you found the helicopter screen, click on the gear stick and you have a clue in what you have to make, it also comes in handy for the drawer, and one of the items you already have comes in handy, Also if you are still stuck read the readme and focus on the intructions for the cursors, there is a sly hint there.

Ok, finished now. Funny how both MAGS games had trivia. And by the way, how come I didn't recognize any of the celebrities?
Anyway, fun little game.

Spoiler
the 2 Ewen's were Ewen McGregor (Star Wars 1&2, Trainspotting etc) and Ewen Bremner (I can understand not knowing him, He's a scottish actor also in Trainspotting and a few other smaller movies)
I guess you have to know the actors to get the whole "The Ewen" UN joke.

The main celebrity was Adrian Edmondson, who was the leader of The Ewen, skater dude, who was Vivian in The Young Ones, which is an early 80's Brittish comedy (my favourite show when I was growing up) He also starred in another English comedy Bottom.

I played Proof of Fiction and saw the trivia there too. Obviously my trivia was nothing to do with Iraq but There are also 2 different set of questions depending on who you get the test from.

It's just a coincidence cause I didn't play Proof of Fiction until I'd released my game.

Hope you enjoyed

I posted an illegal exception report for this game in the tech forum.  Well it only happened once so I'm not sure why, anyways.

It's definately not a bug in the game, well for me anyway, if it happened only once it was probably just something to do with windows

Thanks for Downloading everyone, not much feedback, but I know it's been downloaded 86 times in the last 2 days, So people must be playing it.

The puzzles are logical, the scipting is tight, it has custom interface and cursors, and the story well, you'll just have to find out for yourself.

play it and tell me what you think.
I hope you all enjoy the game.

If you feel like voting for it, email Magintz
mags_competition@blueyonder.co.uk
and send "Saddson Issein by Timosity" in the email to vote

Thanks

I was bored today, so I found a few midis and put them in the game.

I just searched a few free midi sites, nothing too exciting, but now the game finally has a sound track.

featuring songs by:

Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Prodigy
Simon & Garfunkel
Europe
Rancid
Devo
Rage against the machine

Also if you haven't played this game, it is already outdated since it was written before the war in Iraq.

When I designed this game I had the idea of a Thread that goes on and off topic, which the game does.

The puzzles are ordinary, but it was more about a silly story, just remember to spit in the sandpit, that's probably the hard thing to figure out. (if you didn't read the subliminal message in the readme)

If you feel like replying, fine, otherwise just let it slip back into oblivion

you can still get it here:

it's about 1.3MB
