Title: New Game from CUG (and it's in Italian)
Post by: on Sat 10/05/2003 16:48:26
Hello, damsels and knights. It is still I, CUG, your favourite teacher of Italian language, food, costumes, and ways to get rid of those nosy intestine parasites.

Anyway...

I've made this cute new educational game, and it's in Italian. you might want to download it if you want to learn this beautiful language. You can find it at http://www.pastorarts.emuita.it/fava.php

The game is called "SimBrothel 3069 : WhoreCraft!" and it's a game about family valours, friendship, solidariety, and prostitution. It's not really an adventure, it's more likely a strategy game, with action sequences. I tried to make it the more Cinemaware-ish I could, and it's up to you to judge the results.

Ah, there are also breasts, just to keep the rude countrymen happy. (Obviously, In the "rude countrymen" cathegory I put also Iself , that is to say, CUG).

And, I think that's all.

Obviously, volunteers for translating it into the Albionic idiom will be happily welcomed with a strong handshake.

Saludos.

CUG

The game is a riot!!! I understand only half of it (it's extraordinarily verbose, so I'm missing a lot) but it's probably the game that made me laugh most!!! Different stuff, but brilliant!

I need some clues though: should I try to choose the more "serious" options, or should I go for the whacky options (like picking up "0" girls?)...

And about the babe at the beach - is there any way to convince her to work for me?

Translate it to english - everyone should be playing this!

Whoah, thanks a-lot, Ratracer!

"Different" might be the right word to define it. It's not properly an adventure, it's not properly a management game, it has some arcade sequences and a talking dog. I tried to make it similar to the old multi-event Cinemaware classics, and whether I succeeded or not, well, it's your judgement.

Every game of mine tends to be incredibly verbose, because I like to make streams of consciousness while I code. For example, when asking to Scroto (The dark-skinned, white-dressed discomusic-styled brother) how the whores are feeling, he starts speaking about the stupidity of italian 80's slangs.

Even if the game is wacky, it has a serious aim. So, in order to win, as the protagonist's old dad says, you must skyrocket your popularity and get rid of the other brothel. Obviously, if you want people to appreciate your whorehouse, you'll have to get better girls than "0". And don't try getting with Mustafa's whores, they're a waste of time. Wait for the third day, when your cousin Onesto will visit the brothel, giving you the phone number of his call-girls agency, and these ones will be QUALITY. (and, alas, a high price).

The beach babe isn't potential workforce, she is just a former whore who used to work in the enemy brothel. She will give you something useful, tho.

And I'm very curious to know the things that made you laugh most of this game. You know, just to know what aspect I should stress in an eventual english translation.

Thank you very much, ratracer. I'm waiting for your reply.

The graphics look great, but I cant understand a word! Someone translate it!!

Also, why did you choose 320*240? 3D rendered looks pretty good at hi-res I think.

I thought to bump up this thread.

First: sorry CUC I didn't get back to your game (in fact, I didn't played any game since) but I'll restart it...

I really think this game is a gem, pretty original and everyone with a basic italian knowledge (or knowledge of a latin language such as a portuguese, spanish, french) should give it a try, even if they understand only half of it (as I do)...

If you made a rough translation, you could probably give it to someone here to polish up the dialog so it doesn't sound so...translated.  Anyone who has played an English translation of many AGS games knows what I'm talking about.
