Hello!
My first AGS - Game "Noisy Mountain" ist finished and ready for download!
http://www.schwammhirn.de/bilder/noisymountain.rar
It has not very much in common with Silent Hill, but the main game idea is the same: Starting the game and don't know anything, whats happened.
But with a bit more humour.
It's in German, but I guess its easy to understand.
Hope You enjoy it!
Downloaded and played a bit.
Looks good :) Are you planning to release an English translation? Because I could understand none of the jokes as I don't know German; just able to solve the puzzles.
Maybe i will translate it. But that will be a lot of work to do. Because i cant make a simple Translation via the Translation funktion of AGS because i used a lot of "DisplaySpeech" and so i have to recode a big part of the game.
Mmmh?? DisplaySpeech does not appear in the translation source you mean? I would expect it to do :o
I tested it. I made a translation source and searched for my DisplaySpeech-Speech :-) but couldn't find it in the File. But i will check it again. Maybe i am wrong.
BTW i worked with 2.62. Perhaps with 2.7 their isn't the problem anymore.
I played it, looks good. Unfortunatly my german let's me down at some point.
Very nice game! But I am stuck now. I just bought a condom (no idea why), went to the bar and the cemetry. What do I do next? Can I enter the church? Did I miss something?
Thanks for your help
You can enter the Church from the side entry. The Items you need for that you will find near the Bar...
The condom will be usefull later in the game...
Oh! I did not even notice there was a side of the church! I hate it when I cant solve a puzzle, because I miss the exit to a new room! I hope I did not miss any other rooms as well.
Now I have a condom and some flowers! Am I playing Leisure Suit Larry 1???
Lets see what I can do at the Schrottplatz!
By the way I love the diagnostic eye of Rick. Telling the blood group by the color of the blood, thats simply amazing! Most other people need a lab for that! ;-)

I'm very sure that AGS puts every string into the translation source. Even (Especially) those inside scripts.
Otherwise, it'd be a nightmare to translate games relying heavily on DisplaySpeech.
Please translate into english.
it sounds cool
The game is really nice. I love the humour and the atmosphere. I'm stuck though.
As it says in the forum rules that I should not ask for hints in here, I've created a thread in the Hints Forum (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=22261.0).
Oh please do translate it into English!
Good News!
I found someone who will help me to translate the game. So hopefully i will be able to offer you a english version soon.

Excellente! ;D
Teh coolness :) Looking forward to play the game in a language which I understand.
Yeah, I'm on it.
Translation is practically done, we'll just have to tamper a bit with strings & cheese.
The complete English version of Noisy Mountain should be available within a foreseeable amount of time.
Hi there,
just wanted to let you know, that I played your game up to the junkyard. And I have to say... I LIKE IT!!! This is what more AGS games should be like. It just has the right feel to it. The puzzles, the look, the story, the atmosphere... everything's just fine. Fine, fine wine...
Weiter so!
It's done. The english version is ready for download. BIG thanxs to teleklafter alias Notion Grinder. He has done a great job and transfered the style of the game very good.
If there is someone who didnt understood the game, now you will. Everybody who has not already played! Thats your chance

Would be nice, if You would make some comment and evaluate the game on the AGS-GameSide... -> Section-> middle-length-games->page 5

Thanxs a lot! I m surprised, that so many girls liked the game ;)
How long does it took You to finish it?
I actually played the German version (and I dont speak any German - but it looked so cool!), but only played for 20mins as got stuck with the language.
But the English version I played for 1hour and only needed 1 or 2 hints from the forum. The puzzles were v logical.
Thanks a lot for appreciating my translation. It was quite a deal of work transmitting Fightmeyer's humor but I hope it was worth the while. Enjoy it - those of you who haven't yet.
Wow, this was a great game! I couldn't stop playing this one until I got to the end. ;D I thought the puzzles were very fair, graphics and sounds were just fine, and the plot was engrossing.
really enjoying this game! i love the atmosphere. just something about it. thx.

Thanks a lot. Thats more, that i expected.
Really nice game. I just played it up until cathedral. Can't wait to finish.
This is a very very good game. I love games in the vein of Silent Hill and this is just brilliant. As mentioned, as soon as I started playing I just couldn't stop. Great stuff!
I haven't completed it yet but you've GOT TO make a sequel!
:)
Thanks a lot. A m already thinking about a new story...
Hi Folks.
Good News...at least for me...:-)
A guy from a german Computer-magazine wants to publish my game on one of the next magazine.
Of course, i do not get any money for that.
There are just some little things about the license-stuff around AGS-Games. I used the standard-Fonts, that come with AGS 2.61. In the Licence-Section i read about the fonts and that is the one from Sierra. Is that really a problem or can anybody give me a link for some free alternative fonts???
I used some midis.... i already removed them from my game and soon i will replace them with free midis from a friend. So their should be no problem with music-license anymore.
With sounds i also have no problem, because i use wave files. So no codec-license-stuff.
What about AGS itsself? Do i have to use some special phrase in my readme.txt to show that its made with ags? Is it allowed to publish an AGS game that way??
I also used the creditz plugin. I guess, i will simply ask the author of the plugin, if its okay...
Any other license stuff i should think of???
Please help or give some advice...
Thanx
Eh? I've downloaded it from here twice:

But it's the german version and there is only the default language available in the ags set up.

It's in english! Thanking you.
Theres no read me in the english version. How do i quit the game please, and also it says i have a location map ? How do i view that ?
Press the escape key. Guess the german option that says quit! (I think it was "Ende".)
Erm... how DID you quit?
Alt+Ctrl+End, just wondered if there was an actual quit option. Thanks.

thats right! From nearly every location, you can use the scape button, to return to the main screen. Then click on Ende end you will quit the game.
The Map, you can see, when you leave an location. On the map you can chose other locations to go to.
Would be nice, if someone could answer my questions i asked yesterday.
ggp - In the future, you can end most AGS games with Alt-X. ;) Though it's not reccomended unless the maker actually forgot to include a "quit" option.
Hmm I use that Alt-X when testing my game and I've fudged it up and can't quit. (IE: stuck in a conversation)
Why isn't it reccomended?
Okay just finished the game! (Man I'm on here too often since my disc drive got sent away for repairs..)
Who wrote the instrumental of the NIN song "hurt"?
I enjoyed the game. Missed having characters to talk to though. And.. not really understanding the point of the story. Well, maybe I do, but I won't write it here.
Nice enough graphics, attention to detail and puzzles were... were...
the push the key out of the door puzzle? The magnet through sewer grating puzzle? Why man WHY??? I'm hardly ruining the puzzles here when they are cliched. Other puzzles were good though. I just don't understand why you used two overused puzzles that anyone who has played adventure games before can easily solve.
I give it.. 7 out of ten!
(Keep in mind I'm a real tough critic!)
QuoteWhy isn't it reccomended?
You never know if the author didn't include any extra code for when you press the "quit" button. Also, suppose you do it during a mini-game and the author made AGS write something to an external file, or something, which would get changed when you quit the mini-game, but you didn't do it the way you should...
...basically, it's better looked at as an emergency exit, not a shortcut exit (which reminds me, Alt-F4 might work as well).
