Title: One Room - (revisited)
Post by: Wyz on Mon 25/10/2010 15:40:24

(http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/ww251/FTUltra/OneRoom.png) (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1370)

This game was originally created for the OROW competition but I've worked on it some more. Result: two new puzzles and revised/additional cut scenes.

It is hard to explain what the game is like, it was a bit of an experiment and I wasn't completely sober when I made the initial game, but that just adds character to it, right?... right?  :D

The revisited version has some of the bugs fixed, but also add something important: a proper ending. I tried my best to give the game a satifying ending, I hope it does.

Interested? Just play it, it's not that long. And just for fun:
post your time here when you've finished it

Kadownload! (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1370)

This is a wonderful endeavor, a taste, if you will, of the potential of games (or rather interactive applications) as an artistic medium of the XXI century. We should make a legitimate art form of this. Hell, I want to see computer galleries where gaming artists could exhibit their work and actually earn a living, too. I can already see the future when original dvds of this cybernetic Dali or another will fetch unearthly prices on the market. Theses will be written on the travails of man's identity as illustrated in Planescape Torment etc. I really enjoyed the wackiness of this short entry, even though I myself was fairly sober when playing this. Frankly, I haven't posted for years in here but simply decided to log in to give you the thumbs up for this. This is what I love AGS for and please, Sir, may I have another!

Wow, I'm so very glad to hear that, thanks! I was afraid it would go completely unnoticed :-[. It has certainly been an experiment; normally I'm deliberation a lot when I make games like the design, this time I let my guts speak, and it would present a trip through my creative mind really. Yes you're right, be should make an art form out of 'games', explore the untraveled waters, find new ways of how to express ourselves. I'm not sure how to make it happen again, but I guess thats part of the creative process. ;D

Thanks for the comment!

Nice artsy feeling. You should totally make a talkie out of this - something like a deep twilight zone voiceover :)

But one of the many things I can't do is solving anagrams, so I had gave up on the 3rd puzzle :(

Anyhow nice, puzzly game!

@ Tastybrainstew:
Hmm what kind of archive program are you using?
Are there more people that have this problem?

Well, it was a fun experience while it lasted, and I like it when people experiment.
However, I gave up after I moved the colors around in the room for a few minutes and nothing happened, I got 4 colors and didn't understand how, and as there were no clues I got annoyed and stopped. Maybe you  should have a timer in thouse puzzles and give clues if you see that the player is stuck...

Nice - I like these Surreal games.

Spoiler
My only prob was drawing the door. I was in the right spot but my scale was wrong, which was a little annoying as I was starting to try drawing on the blank one. Other then that very good

@ tzachs: The down side of expirimenting. ;D I did try to put a hint in the read-me but that might have been a stretch, but oh-well let me fill you in:
Spoiler
Try to move around until you find 6 colours,

after that you need to find a seventh orb.

@ Big GC:
That is a really good time! :D

Yes, I see your problem there. I'm being a bit more unforgiving with the door then I could have been because I wanted a smooth transition for the final cutscene. But I guess the real problem was the blank wall which was supposed to be a red herring, but that didn't turn out very well. Thanks for pointing that out!
