Well, I just had the savegame crash happen to me while testing Prodigal.  :'(

I'm working with SSH to see if there is ANY way to resolve this, otherwise I might have to remove the savegame module from version 1.1...which would stink, cause the stock GUI looks so bland.  :'(  :'(  :'(

This also may delay my original prediction about releasing Wednesday, as I look into my options.

Do you have a savegame file that, when loaded, will break the game if you try to save it?

If you have any reliable way of reproducing the problem please let me know about it so that I can look into the issue.

It's possible that it could be a bug in the module, but even if it is AGS isn't handling the situation very well, so it's something I certainly need to investigate further.

I have played this game and finished with the walkthrough and let me tell you Trisk.

"You are the winner on this year for creating such outstanding AGS thriller game of the year 2005.
IÃ,  love it! ;D"

I hope you don't mind adding me in your fanlist *lol* but I can't wait for your next games when they come out.

And now to all AGS game creators. This game is something we must always respect love and remember in future because Trisk has showed us how powerful AGS is and how true genious game creator he really is for being the first to create such a wonderful 3d AGS game.Ã,  ;)

And I am not joking in this time.

Many cheers to Trisk and his team!

I have already mentioned this game in my icelandic website if you don't mind ...http://www.tolvuleikir.is

But it is on icelandic so don't bother go in there unless you understand my language.

The only bug I found is when you are in the oily water you get out of the water you are  with same view when you walk in the oily water. I have to get back into the water to get the normal walking view.

I hope you could understand me.

AGS star is born!

i have been playing this game for two days and find it very interesting.  i enjoy long games and am one who refuse to use any walkthroughs as long as a game makes sense.  so far this game is running very smooth and i have not had any bugs.  i hope you consider sequels as response to the game are positive.  thanks for your efforts to entertain us and keep up the great work.

I am not going to comment on quality of sound, puzzles, graphics...

Spoiler

I find the plot and the idea it embodies highly unacceptable from the philosophical and moral point of view.
This is the absolute and total triumph of evil.
The pure all-encompassing evil which transforms the "victim" Jacob  into a villain. The chain of luring good, loving and considerate people into an inevitable transformation into evil-doers is obviously infinite and unbreakable - according to the game creator's (creators') belief.
As a genre, the "horror thriller" has its own inner rules - someone might object - the scarier, the more desperate, the more wicked and beyond all hope - the better.
Many people do not accept such a standpoint.
Anyway, the mere fact that this game has made me think about those matters and state the above disagreement means that it has become an artistic phenomenon.

Hey, I've been playing the game for my last two lunchbreaks- it's great. I've got stuck a coupla times but haven't resorted to the walkthrough yet.

It's pretty darn spooky too! Love these kind of games. Good job. ;D

Ozzie

Since I haven't played the game so far I can't answer to nelinastungeon, but I find his post interesting in terms of strangeness...

Nevertheless, I started the game short before I went to sleep and I was amazed what I saw! Also I have never played one of the first two Gabriel Knights I kinda knew that it has to feel that way, so I think your mission to recreate the style and atmosphere of these games is accomplished!
I like to see that some serious effort went into the game! You must be some kind of workaholic, doing most of the graphics, all the scripting, and the story, at such a quality in such a short time span. I heard here many criticisms about the graphics, but I personally thought they are pretty well done, at least in the intro movie....I guess that there are points where they could be better, but at this quality level it's good enough for me to not distract from the actual game....maybe this doesn't sound really nice but I think it's not an easy thing to do!
Can't tell more about the gameplay or such, because I hadn't the time so far to play it further and sadly I won't have it very soon. But it's on the top of my priority list!

To nelina - PLEASE hide your spoilers with the "hide" tag.

I don't suppose any moderators, or anything, can hide it and hide other spoilers too? As a guest, nelina can't hide it him/herself...

Peter, Before using aegis on cell door, save your game and try again.

I've never had that problem.

Fribbi AGDI joker-

Thank you very much for your most kind comments!Ã,  ;D It is an encouragement to me to work on the sequel! Of course you are very much welcome to post about it on your website. Although I can't read the language, I did check it out and it looks cool from what I can see! Again, thank you!

grandma-

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I WANT very much to do the sequel! I did Prodigal 90% myself, and got pretty burnt out on it. I hope to get a team of AGS veterans together to work on the next one, so I'm not stretched so thin. That is the reason I want/need it to be popular before I tackle another game. :) So spread the word!Ã,  ;D

nelinastungeon-

Although I appreciate your comments, I have requested a moderator remove this or at least hide the text, as you are giving away a spoiler to the game on a public forum!Ã,  >:( This kind of comment should have been sent to my email, which is readily available from the game manual. Here is what I have to say in response:

Spoiler
While I realise this game does seem to end off very dark and hopeless, as you have noticed, such is the horror genre. movies like "Night of the Living Dead" or "Carnival of Souls" are pervasively dark and end a tragedy.

There is more to note, however, about the ending of Prodigal. We came into the middle of the conversation with Ashley, so we really don't know WHAT Jacob told her and what he did not. There is the hope that Jacob, being an "good" person, will not end up doing what his brother, and all the others before him, did.

Furthermore, we don't have the FULL story yet at this point about WHY the trap is, and IF the other side of it really leads to paradise, as the Demelza believe, or not. We also have the (hopefully) clearly warped view of the Demelza as to WHY this trap was created.

I guess what I'm saying to all this as that we don't yet KNOW the whole story. To leave it off here without playing the "next chapter" would be to do the story injustice.

To equate it to something else, what if you JUST watched Star Wars Episodes 1-3, and never watched 4-6? Episode Three ends off in an incredibly dark way, with seemingly no hope for the entire gallaxy! Without episodes 4-6, it would seem that Lucas has written an appaling tale of betrayal and tragedy!

So the end of "Prodigal" has not yet been revealed. There. That's what I'm trying to say. :)

Ozzie-

I actually prolly go farther in the chills side than Gabriel Knight ever does...although there is that one scene in "Beast Within" in the cave...man, that was ILL! :b

Glad you like the game's look, though! It was a HECK of a task for 1 person to pull off! I wouldn't have made it without Edgar stepping in to help with alot of animation late in the project!

Peter-

I PMed you about it. Sorry for the delay on a new version. :/ We're working on it...

MATTANDALEX

I am so depressed that i have school tommarrow. I mean this is such an awsome game and i just dont want to stop playing. I have to say thanks for adding another game to the list of games i try to get all my freinds to play ;D
I hate the powder you get on your fingers when eating cheese poofs

Trisk

Glad you're having fun! :) And thank you for spreading it around! The more the better! :D

Nikolas

This is a great game!

And I actually like the character, without the facial features. It looks... well nice.

Well done!

I'm glad that there are numerous games (including this one) that prove that even one person (Trisk) can do wonderfull things that seem commercial (in a good sense).

Well done!

ness

Great game. The atmosphere is brilliant. I don't usually play games with the sound on and didn't turn it on until almost near the end but I wish I had listened to it all the way through now. The only bit I got a little bored with was going all over the dwellings back and forwards to find keys, food items etc. But the pace picked up again later so all's well that ends well. And it truly does end well. Great story. You have talent.

Nikolas-

Thank you very much for the kind words! Edgar helped alot with the comic book art, and many of the Tsvsgino animations, so I can't take all the credit...not to mention my brother wrote the awesome story. And believe me, it's just getting going with this game!  ;D

Ness-

You missed out on alot of the atmosphere without the soundtrack!  :-\ Out of everything I did in this game, I'm most proud and satisfied with my soundtrack. But thank you for the kind words!

juvinal-

Spoiler
To get to the long cave, you must leave the cliff dwellings, go back to the upper elevator room, then head south onto the lava bridge. From there, go west across the bridge to the stone stairway. Head west up the stairs, and west again up the wooden stairs. You will arrive in the long cave. Jacob is a teeny dot in the distance, and the room is a scrolling room.

From here, just click the metal detector under the left torch to get the brass key.

Hope that clears it up for you!

well all i can say is that if i found it atmospheric even without the sound you did a better job than perhaps you thought! i may even go back and listen to the soundtrack but i am usually trying to play ags games on the quiet so as not to get spotted wasting time when i should be working.  :D

Shit! I just finished it! That was a hell of a game. I've already voted! This is a big well created game.

WOW!
