Post by: Gregjazz on Mon 19/06/2006 03:28:23
(whisper) Hello, this is me, Geoffkhan speaking. I'm posting this for my friend, Pijin Pastrana, the creator of this game.

-----------

Join Toby X in his new adventure and help him battle the ultimate villain, Nazgu Bain, before the Universe is gone as he know it. Travel around space and even time to recover some legendary and long lost pieces of a mysterious amulet, and save the day and his precious wife.

Hi Geoffkhan,

Just started to play your new game.

Just a quick reminder here:

I didn't make this game, my friend Pijin Pastrana created it. All I did was host it for him and announce it, since it's difficult for him to get internet connection.

Hope that clears things up. :)

I'm really enjoying the game so far. The graphics are great, and the puzzles are challenging, but still logical. There are two things I want to point out though:

note about the blood:

Spoiler
Due to being far too addicted to shows like CSI, I know that bleach does not reconstitute blood. In fact many criminals (in the shows anyways) try to clean up a bloody crime scene with bleach. Bleach, in fact, will degrade blood. this means it will destroy all the DNA in the blood and make it useless. Just a fact. Besides, aren't bleach based products like Clorox used to clean bloodstains (and other stains) off clothing?
[close]

AND

Button pressing: everytime Toby X goes to press a button above him, his hand never quite reaches the button, and he winds up pressing the wall below it.

Otherwise, great game.

PS: in the museum, you spelled "skeleton" ,"squeleton". Not sure if you meant that on purpose or not. Also, there's no label on the statue in the park- a rather important statue, I think.

Just completed it.

Terrific effort and a brilliant game. Exactly the right pacing, a hefty "middle chapter" after a short "introductory chapter", and a well paced sequence of final puzzles culminating in one of the best AGS games I've had the fortune to play.

I, like many, felt that the first robotragedy was extremely difficult, and I ashamedly admit that I had to use a walkthrough for 80% of that game, but I'm glad that Pijn took the difficulty comments on board and, while still offering a good challenge, only resulted in me getting stuck on one puzzle and that was only due to me losing sight of a puzzle and getting sidetracked.

The only criticism I have with the game (apart from the translation to English which is more than forgivable) is that you have to get the amulets in a certain order, even though the areas for the next three of the amulets are open when you finish on Dreina, and this is something that isn't (to my knowledge), pointed out to the player.

Many thanks to Pijn and I very much look forward to the 3rd instalment in the tragedy that is robo.

I just tried it, and it was pretty well made. But 245 MB? Looking at that, I can't see how you could make a game that big of a filesize. Did you try compressing it?
Title: Re: Robotradegy 2: Countdown To Doomsday
Post by: BOYD1981 on Tue 27/06/2006 04:08:25
i'd say it was already quite well compressed seeing as it's over 300mb decompressed and only a 24mb download so there's not actually really any reason to complain about it being big.

hey geoffkhan tell your friend who made the game that a walkthrough will be much appricated. This is a very big world and I've tryed refering to the hints & tips people post but it's still too extensive for me to search through the whole thread every few minutes.

Personally I don't think it needs a walkthru. You can easily complete the game using the hints thread, as everyone here is so helpful. I am going to add my thumbs up for this game too. Great graphics and well thought out puzzles. I loved it that some of the inventory items you don't get to use until right at the end. My only very small niggle would be that people whoe English isn't that great could get someone to help with the translation. I'd be more than happy to help with this. On the other hand, the wonky English makes it kinda cute too. In any case, not a biggie. Very enjoyable for me while I have a cold and a sore back..it cheered me up a bit.

ness some people prefer to find the answer in a structured walkthrough. I usually use the hints & tips if I'm stuck but this is a long game and it has a long thread and I find myself readig a lot of it every time to find an answer. Asking a question that's already been asked people will usually respond by check previous answer and besides when you ask q eustion there's the wait for the answer. So for a game of this length I would be more comfortable with a walkthough to refer to cos I play it for 15-30 minutes a day not every day due to lack of free time so I can't remember all the puzzles that need solving and all locations in the game. I'm sure some users would like a walkthrough too,  so who are you to say no need for a walkthrough?

Where can I download Robotradegy 1?
This game looks brilliant, I want to play the original first so I don't miss out anything.

Hey, congratulations Pjin on making such a great game. The graphics were divine. The music for planet dreina was especially good.

Toby is soo cute, though he seems a bit too "smitten' by his wife as he keeps asking everyone what they think of her.

The puzzles were just right. (Thanks for not keeping any misleading keys this time.Ã,  ;) )

Really waiting like to see Toby and the others again in the sequel part 3!

Will play the whole night now ;D

Really good job!

Hi,

I played this game several months ago and loved it. I meant to mention this small bug at the time:
Spoiler
the turbine turns the wrong way once the water starts flowing. The water flows right to left and so the turbine should turn clockwise, but it turns anti-clockwise instead.
[close]

It's not a big deal but would be straightforward to fix: just reverse the order of the frames in the animation.

Excellent game - I hope we see more like this from Pijin.

I haven't gotten anything done for a while. Not much on my mind worth mentioning. Shrug. That's how it is. I feel like a fog. I can't be bothered with anything these days.    Chislopisamoepishnoevmire. My life's been generally boring today. I haven't gotten anything done recently.   My life's been bland. Today was a complete loss. It's not important.   My life's been unremarkable. I haven't been up to much recently. I've just been letting everything wash over me lately, not that it matters.   I've just been letting everything pass me by these days, but what can I say? Such is life. I haven't gotten anything done. Shrug. I've basically been doing nothing to speak of.

Is that the new trend, hijacking threads to tell us nothing at all, in a lot of words?

@Geoff: Please hug your friend Pijin (in a manly way) for making such a fun game. I had little time recently, but felt the time I spent on his 'tragedy was all worth it.

ahh, just finished the second one.. Puzzlewise it's much more logical as the first one, I only needed help with 2 or 3 points (One because somebody has seen too many CSI's I guess, i personally wouldn't have guessed it how to get some specific liquid), another one was something I knew that I needed, but didn't know how to get it, just completly missed the item laying around), and I also missed one thing embeded in something gold. So most things where just because I didn't see stuff laying around..
I really liked the story, the graphix are really fabulous (even now).. The only thing that I was very annoyed by a lot of the times, was the bad english. I know english is not his own language (nor is it mine as you propably can see in my own gramar here), but this was just ridiculous.. Maybe someone could help him out and correct the faulty text, so this game is even better.

Can't wait to see another game released by mister Pijin.. (still got to play the professor game)..

Well, that's exactly my thought, the biggest problem with the hintthreads is that a lot has been asked a zillion times (people are just too stupid/lazy to read the beginning), and with all the 'hiding' you still have to select it just to see what the question/answer is you are looking for (yes I'm one of those people that actually first tries to read the thread before asking a question), and with that you do see some answers you don't already want to see..
What I think this site needs is a new Hints system, much like Universal Hint system (http://www.uhs-hints.com/) or OpenUHS (http://freshmeat.net/projects/openuhs/)..
