Thank you. Hmm. Yes, up to that point the videos are WMV, and from there they become "CVID" AVI video files, and that should be just like Microsoft Video 1. I'll look into this though, so thanks again. There are two more videos after that with the same format, so I guess that renders it pretty unplayable for you until I get it fixed, or try some alternative file types.

I'll upload alternative video files in a day or so :)

QuotePS: Mr Stein, haha, no idea (yet) what it says but managing to get Testicle and bald in the same sentence on an adventure game news page is no easy feat!

There is a translation link on the right side of the blog, you can use it to get a raw english translation:

That's German efficiency for you, following up a conversation from a couple of weeks ago ;)

Well, my komt bald bollocks appreciate your concern, Mike :) Also, the translate button on your site doesn't work for me. It just shows the same Google translate bar about 8 times and then nothing happens!

... and from a different thread. :-)

Oh, that's non-german efficiency... I have it for about a year and nobody told me... :-P

English enthusiasm ::) In all fairness, the first time I even saw that link to a translate was two days ago. Ever since I've always just copied your text over to translate.google.com ;) But anyway, thanks, and also for the publicity! I'll try that button again tonight and let you know if it works or not. It didn't just now.

Edit - woop! Now the translate option works fine!

Thanks for the savegame, restoring in this version works.
Now I've just waited till the timer went off without doing anything, but still the same problem, so it has nothing to do with the room change, but with the video file, as you said. Did you use a different codec for this video? All the other videos in the game worked fine.
The sounds I hear are from

, so maybe only the audio from the video plays. It ends a bit abrupt though, after around 8-9 seconds, don't know if that's normal.

Hi dude, it doesn't look like I can remake the video files without them being huge. So it's probably best you install the CVID codec. If you can't find it online (I couldn't) here's a fairly simple fix:

Download the cvid codec DLL here: http://www.screen7.co.uk/games/download/iccvid.dll

Place it in your Windows > System32 folder.

Go to Run > Regedit and then:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Drivers32\
(or similar location, with other strings including midi and aux)

Add a new string by clicking Edit > New > String value

The string name should be changed to vidc.cvid

The string value to enter is iccvid.dll

Then try again, or restart and try again :)

Sorry it's a bit long winded, seems that codec is quite out of date and not easy to just find and install. If this still doesn't work for you and other people suffer the CVID problem with my game, I may have to look at a different option for the AVI videos in the game. Thanks for pointing it out though!

TomatoesInTheHead

Ah, I found the problem: I already had the codec (and registry entry), but I also had a third-party codec pack (K-Lite Codec Pack) which added some missing, but also replaced or essentially disabled some of the existing codecs, including this one. Thanks for the help!
Now let's see if I have the balls to finish this game 8)

TomatoesInTheHead

Finished it now, awesome ending! :)

Took me quite a while since this last post here because it was indeed not possible to do finish it with the savegame from the other version: one hotspot, namely

wasn't there, which I only found out after replaying it today from the beginning. Before that, I only tried every combination of items and actions and searched every pixel because I thought I'd just missed something obvious. :-\

Thanks for the comments there, sir! I'll be uploading a new version with that fix tonight or tomorrow, sorry that it slipped through. It's a bummer (or a balls up) I'm sorry I haven't sorted sooner. But I'm glad you made it through to the end :) Be sure to rate in the DB!  :=

The Great Underground Empire

I don't think anyone reported this yet, but I'm stuck right near the beginning from an apparent glitch...

Spoiler
I'm in the 24/7 shop, Handy just led me downstairs, and now...there's nothing I can do.  I've looked, touched and talked to everything in the room, I've got the cup and the key and tried them on everything, and nothing happens.  I also can't leave, since Handy's blocking the stairs.  Is this a puzzle I'm just not getting or an error?  Please help, I really want to play more! :)

Hi PlayPretend, that's an intentional puzzle - known as a pixel hunt, generally disliked by most :p Thanks for your comments!
