Title: Sticky the Stickfigure Part 1: The Crimson House
Post by: wotmeworry on Tue 20/01/2009 23:29:03
HOORAY! I FINISHED! YES!!

Even though this was only a week project, I'm still as pleased as any when they complete their first game.

You can play my the game here:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1124 (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1124)

Any bug reports would be very well appreciated, thank you.

And now, some stuff about the game:

"He has no name. He has no memory. He has no money. All he has is this strange crimson red house.
Is this just the crazy result of diet coke and mentos, or is there something terribly evil at work? Probably coke and mentos, but let's just assume for the sake of mystery that there's evil at work."

A brand new really pathetic game from Dean Miller that will shock the world so much, they'll
KILL THEMSELVES

Known bugs:
*The intro wmv scene doesn't work in some resolutions.

I hope you all enjoy my first game!

Congratulations!
Looks.... eehhh.... red!   :)
Let you know more when I've finished/encountered bugs.

[update]
First reaction:
- Funny remarks and animations,
- Music is a bit too much after a while. Some more diversity would be welcome.
- Stickman falls asleep very quickly, even during a conversation
- Many typos.

Furthermore:
Spoiler
When you've left the snackbar and try to re-enter again, Roger is at the door on the right but I still get the message: This guy is blocking the way.

oh shoot. I see the problem. I must've overlooked that. Silly me! Working on fixing That now.

By the way, I am an idiot. I AM A TOTAL IDIOT!!!!

I assumed that the password that is already entered in on the add game sheet, the one you need to enter to change settings, is your profile password. So I didn't bother to change it. Get what I'm saying? So now I don't have the password to edit the game, So now, if I want to update, I have to add it as a completely different game. I am such a total moron. Yes I am.  ::)

I WILL BE SURE NEVER TO MAKE THIS STUPID MISTAKE EVER AGAIN!!!! :P

Yeah...I know about how he falls asleep quickly. Not sure how to change that, but I'll look around. If you ask me, the way he falls asleep during a big speech can look kinda funny. Nevertheless, I want it gone.

Don't like the music that much, huh? Yeh, it's kinda inappropriate for the scene. Man lost, surrounded my mystery. Dance music doesn't really suit. Don't think I'll bother changing for the update. Maybe for Part 2.

Typos? I know. kind of ironic that I have the "can help with grammar" icon next to my posts.

anyway, I'll work on all those. Expect the update in the next few days.

Expect the sequel in the next few hundred years. I kinda have a habit of starting something and never finishing.

Congratulations on finishing your first game! :)  It's always a tender moment in a young man's life.

But what's up with your avatar, of the chicken in sunglasses?  Chickens in sunglasses are my domain, and you're infringing on my copyright.  Be warned, sir!

aw man! The Panel only rated it 1/5 cups. :'(

"While a good first effort, Sticky the Stickfigure is a short game with simple puzzles, unpolished artwork and music that might be too loud for some people." :'(

But instead of lowering my self asteem, this has only raised my eagerness to make a much better sequal!

Due to this, I can't be stuffed to update. Time to move on to Sticky Part 2!

Thank you all for your support and stuff.

Does it have to be 32-bit color tho? theres no real point to that and it really bumps up the filesize.

Well played on the game - I'm enjoying it so far, its made me smile a good few time.  And don't take the 1/5 to bad, I don't think my game was ever even deemed worth grading.

Kudo's to you

I played it this afternoon.  It had a few bugs, but considering it was made in a week, it was ten minutes well-spent.  The Sierra-style speech portraits with changing emotions were a really nice touch. :D

thank you all for your comments, and I looked through the script 6 times but I didn't find many spelling errors. I think the reason you all see the errors, is because I am Australian. This game is made to suit Australian grammar. Instead of color, I say colour. Instead of zee, I say zed.

Also, I know how a lot of the time there are no full stops. It looks better that way.
