Want to go back to those hilarious times and go through those teenager-problems again? Now you can with Lucy Lavender, which is my first project that was succesfully finished. After lots of work and testing, I hope everything is working fine now and no bugs are left :)
For Lucy Lavender character I used the SimPose method Groucho was so friendly to introduce in the adventure-chat-forum. Backgrounds are "borrowed" from one of my favourite adventure games.
I would be very happy if you found some time to give Lucy Lavender a try. Any feedback and advice is welcome, but don't be too strict, it was my first real project.

I'm having trouble downloading the zip file.  Your web server does not allow me to get the whole file, thus it is corrupt.

edit:  Never mind, downloaded without incident after I waited a bit.  Playing now!

Ooops... I was uploading some other stuff too, maybe my webserver did not like upload and download the same time... does it work now? Do other people have the same problem?  :o

EDIT: Wonderful you could download it now  ;D

Hey, not bad.  I like the dialog and the puzzles are fun, but the ripped graphics really kill the game for me.  If you re-did this game with original graphics it would make it a thousand times better.

I agree with DG.  It's hard not to just think of Willy Beamish.  Better to have original backgrounds that aren't quite amazing than really nice ones that were made for a different game.

Yes, I totally agree with that, and no need to quarrel about it. The sad fact is I don't have even 10% of the drawing skills it would need to make even the graphic of simpler RON-games and (maybe more important) I don't enjoy creating graphics at all, while I enjoy doing the story and the code. And if I don't enjoy myself while making the game - there will be no game  :-\ So sorry about the graphics, guys.

Groucho

I played the game and I like it. Story is very original. I especially like  dialogs between Lucy and her brother. I may agree that graphic is not the best I've seen, but it's questionable how important graphic really is in adventure games. I liked the characters though :) Since this is your first project, I can only say - Keep up the good work!

Hey! Just finished the game and it was great! I loved the puzzles.. and the Sam + Brother interactions :) I wish I had Sam around when my brother was annoying!

straston

I liked the game.  :D

Reminds me of a German teenage comedy series called "Mein Leben und ich" ("My Life and Me").

Totoro, did you have that in mind? :-)

Totoro

Thanks for all the nice coments ;) Actually I never watched "Mein Leben und ich", but now you mention it, I really feel like watching it :)

Seems like a nice game but I'm stuck in the beginning -

gave the cup filled with water to the bro but he doesn't want it. What do I do next?  What do I give him then?

Maybe that one was actually too hard... many people seem not to find it...

Totoro - i like the game and i hope that next game you make is done totally by yourself. and don't complain about non-existing drawing skills - there's bunch of nice tutorials around and well - how are you supposed to know how to swim if you haven't been in water? Nothing comes naturally - it's all about little things to discover and lots of experience. Maybe you haven't found yours? Can't draw? Try 3D-modelling for example. Maybe it comes so easily for you that you will make everything 3d?

The thing about characters walking speed and animation speed is very bad. I really think you should work on this, start by increasing walking speed and lowering animation speed.
Put up an update or something - and I'm sure you'll do this because -

Aye Aye sir. I am drawing already (posted one background in critics lounge ;D) and I am actually planning to update on Lucy Lavender, but give me some time please.
Thanks for your nice words and your constucitve criticism.

Hope you're not insulted or something. Game was pretty fun and I felt that it ended just at the moment things started to get really exiting. An idea worth a sequel. Or declare whole thing as "demo" and make it four times longer! I think you'll find loads of fans to this one.

btw, I saw your background and gave a little tip to help you at drawing in perspective. Perspective was and will be the biggest problem for amateurs, but there's lots of tricks to come around it.

Don't underestimate yourself - your background was pretty fine.
