Cool..
Er.. I mean..
COOOOOLL!!!
THIS IS ONE OF THE GAMES I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR A LONG TIME. I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT.
(IS IT JUST ME, OR DOES ALL-CAPS LOOK WEIRD WHEN IT'S NOT FOLLOWED BY LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS?)
TRUE
Anyway, didn't get any far last night. Will try more today.
Hey, I enjoyed it a lot, although it was waaay to short :'(
The graphics are cute, the music veeery nice and melancholic - and above all, the game has a unique atmosphere, similar to Moomin books by Tove Janson (esp. the main character, who looked a lot like Toft).
I had some trouble because you forgot to write in the readme that you need to press TAB to open inventory.
I loved your dialogue GUI. The puzzles could be harder, but maybe the game is intended for kids?
Overall, congratulations, and I would be overjoyed if this game was 50 hours long! Thumbs up!
And notice there's not one dick to be found in this game! Neither are any lesbians or cuss words! HOW'S THAT FOR AVANT GARDE?
Heh, well I am glad everyone is so...excited!
Goldmund: I will have to check out these books you speak of. The main character was based on those toys (can't remember what they are called) but they have round heads and little cylindar bodies...If anyone are fans of sunnyday real estate they have a bunch of them in one of their albums.
And there is an option in the top corner for the Inv GUI but I guess I should have mentioned that, sorry. Though I think I have some explaining to do on the History of Iso...After many failed attempts at making an AGS game I decieded I was gonna just sit down and make a game...I didn't care if the puzzles were stupid or if it even made sense I was gonna do it. Somewhere along the line I decieded I was stealing a lot from The Wambus so I decieded just to make it the Intro for The Wambus (If that ever see's the light of day...). Fast forward about a year and a half and BOOM Iso is released. I guess you can consider it a super hour game.
The point of the game was to test out Isometrical graphics in AGS as well the conversation engine (Which sadly didn't show off it's full capabilities...but interesting dialog is one of the more underated difficulties of a game..) So I figured keeping it simple rather then filling it with repititios garbage was for the better.
Though this is just the tip of the ice berg. I will be starting a new project in about a month with a friend that will use all of Iso's features as well as many more still being cooked up in my head...I will just say 'Unamed Project 45 (http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=2582)' is up for an extreme face lift.
playmobile, sylpher?

TRYING TO PICK ON ME, GREEK BOY???

Interesting and innovative!
Eric:
That is correct...little guys are playmobile!
Neole:
Thanks.
WORTH TEH WAIT!!!!!
It was short Sylpher...yes. Puzzles weren't difficult...I loved the graphic style you chose...very unique. Great music. You better make Wambus, you can't just build up my expectations like that! And if there's anything you need help with...I'll help you anyway I can. Please make a full fledged game. I like the idea of this...Wambus, it's very unique. You'll have an audience, that's for sure. Good luck!

If I were a zombie (and not just a zombie activist), I would wander around chanting "Waaaaaambuuuus". Definately a unique and very fun little game and I look forward for it to be continued (which it will be because I said so). Best music ever. Nice and calm and I could listen to it all day.
I always liked playmobiles.
Thanks Las, Mills and Pesty...
A couple reasons why I am not to quick to making The Wambus...
A. I lost that notebook with 18 or so pages of notes, which still bothers me, many ideas I had were lost because I didn't bother to keep them in mind, cause I had them on paper. I still remember some but a good majority are gone...I have replaced it with another notebook filled with even more notes but still.
B. Iso took me a year and a half...true I worked on it off and on but still even if I worked on The Wambus at twice the rate of Iso, Wambus is still gonna take forever.
C. I am not sure where to go with the graphical style...I made Iso with Flash and PSP but the result was kinda sloppy...but if I completly switch it won't fit really well.
Plus I have Unamed project 45...and the game I am gonna start with my friend. So I just don't know what is gonna happen.
Wow, that was really well done. Incredibly short, good! It felt really unique as well.
I also liked the conversation engine. Much like Ultima's, but I always liked that.
This was nice and interesting. The graphical style is that of an RPG. It's unique but what bothers is the sky walls. You go up the road and there's just sky in your way. BUt that's how the sky is. Overall an interesting idea and the dialogue engine is very good. I'll be interested to see a full version game using this style. Good luck.
Hm yeah, Nostradamus is right, it feels a bit awkward, but I'm not saying that it would be better without the sky walls.
I think that usually in Iso games sky is all around the ground area, ground seems to hover in open sky, and walls are only when - well - there are real walls, like forest or a castle, or inside.
It doesn't mean that Sylpher should copy this, of course.
Thanks again everyone...
The sky is that way on purpose...as well as many other things you may or may not have noticed (Odd shading, No facial animations or talk animations)...don't worry 90% of it is on purpose...10% is just because I suck though :)
For what it's worth, I really liked the sky.
It's added to the surrealism tenfold!
Don't you just love it when people try to do new things? I do, even though it's hard to tell since my stuff is so derivative.
Very cool. Can't wait to see how that other ISO thingy comes out.
extraordinarily cool!
I don't know why I felt the need to say that but you simply must e congratulated on a job well done
have a cigar (chocolate of course), you've earned it
by the way I liked the conversation engine muchly, gave a good feel to the game in total, it involved you more
The only thing is, it seemed to take forever to change rooms the first time, then when I went back to any room it seemed to go faster.
Thanks, Sorta opinion poll...would anyone mind if the style changed? I mean it would still be isometrical...but I don't think I'm gonna use flash...I guess it is hard to say without a sample or something. sorry.
Relight:
Whats your system specs? and does it do it everytime or was it a one time thing?
unless it's an improved version of the old style, yes
but it's urer choice in the end
It is?
I choose paradise!
Alright, must have been just that one day. My computer is picky with AGS games unless I have a clean boot. It's a 750 Athlon. Anyway, it still has a bit of stutter but not that bad.
IS IT TOO LATE TO TALK IN CAPS ABOUT HOW MUCH I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING THIS GAME??
Great little game Sylpher,
I finally got round to playing it,
I agree that it's too short, It took me a while to get started, couldn't get out of the first room, then I read the manual.
I don't know what people are talking about with the sky, I thought it was a pretty original style for an adventure game.
congrats and I hope you continue it.
