Title: The Journey Home: Part 1 - Bug fixed and re-released!! (Again!!)
Post by: Adamski on Tue 03/12/2002 11:54:50
PLEASE READ!! : Whoops, i arsed up somewhere along the line and broke something in the game that is important... if you have downloaded this game before this announcement then please re-download! Sorry about this :(
Forunatly this time around, save files will still be compatable with the new compile.

Well dress me in spandex and fire me out of a cannon, i've finally relesed what I should have done a year ago: a significantly less buggy version of TJH part 1. If there are any bugs left (and i'm sure there will be ._. ) then let me know and i'll go erradicate them.
Oh yes, and if you missed this the first time around, now's your chance to play the damn game!!!(1)
I'll be releasing some more info and goodies on Byzantine and TJH Part 2 at around Christmas time, so keep watching the ski's... eh, skies.

http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part1.exe (http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part1.exe)
http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part2.rar (http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part2.rar)
http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part3.rar (http://www.neopod.com/~adam/tjh-part1.part3.rar)

All three files are required to be downloaded and installed in the same directory... it's a SFX rar file so all you have to do is run the .exe file and behold the amateaur goodness!

Onwards....

Duzz, i've just downloaded the files from where i uploaded them and inmstalled the game... i didn't get any CRC errors, so perhaps you could try downloading it again?

Hmmm Just bringing it up, I just restarted playing this game using the new version but I got a problem.
Spoiler

After throwing a 2ma2 at Justin from the tower, I don't see the camera and the stapler, so I cant fish them up, maybe they're out of the screen?

I remembered I didn't have any problem there when I played the old version.

So, as I don't want to redownload a brunch of files unless it is really necessary, I want to ask if my current version is indeed the most updated, or it's a slightly older version (ie if that was the bug mentioned in the current top post), or I am just silly that I missed something?

If it's really a bug because I don't have the most recent version, I'll redownload it of course.

EDIT: Thanks DS, I'll redownload it now. :D

Unfortuantly due to a cruel twist of fate, my neopod webspace disappeared months ago, and now mixnmojo.com is down I have nowhere to store any of the files.

I have just downloaded the game and don't seem to have any functions ( talk, pick-up etc. ). If I right-click on the springs or pillow, I'm told that I'm not carrying anything and therefore can not interreact.

Is this a bug or am I being stupid? :-\

Read the manual, or search through posts in this thread about queries on controls.

The game used a Verb Coin GUI, which will pop up after you keep pressing the left-mouse button on the target for a little while.

Thanks Gil,

I eventually worked it out, although now I'm stuck peeping through the keyhole to the card playing guards.

Thanks again.

To be honest, I don't know if this exists online anymore, and if it isn't I don't have any plans to salvage and fix up the copy I have on my backup hard drive.

I _do_ have plans to remake it after TJHpart 2 comes out however (which will be lightyears ahead in terms of... well... everything), and as proud as I am to have actually made a game, Part 1 in it's current form is a little embarrasing :)

Sorry to disappoint.

I linked through this site.

Now I'm stuck because I can't find the waterfall.

The waterfall is somewhere near the bottom of the map, can be hard to spot, especially when the monitor was not adjusted correctly to show all of the screen.
