Look nice, Ab! ;)
Is it the final version?
_
Thank you!
Yes it is. Although I expect to make some minor updates for bug fixing if they are reported.
Congratulations on the release! Looks fun! I'll make sure to play it soon. ;-D
Please also add the game to our database on the game page: https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/add/
I had a great time with this little gem. Great puzzles and a very well thought out design.
Spoiler
I got stuck when it came time to get fuel for the drum. I had the pipe with rope and I assumed that I could collect the wood ribbons with it. But it was not possible. So I repeated using it with the hatch and yes, I obtained only the rope, but I also got another ladder! There's something strange in this step. I suppose you didn't consider that the pipe could be tied again with the rope. Maybe the pipe should disappear from inventory forever?
Anyway. Congratulations for this game. ¡Me ha encantado!
Thank you very much for playing it and for your kind words!
Urban Witch Story, Billy Masters Was Right and, above all, the wonderful Nightmare Frames were what made me interested in AGS, so I'm quite embarrassed that this bug happened to you...
Spoiler
The thing is that the "rope and pipe" item does disappear when you use it on the hatch, and immediately afterward you receive the "rope" and the "ladder" items. I've played about 30 times and the bug has only happened to me once. I think it could be due to an engine error when loading the game since I can't find any errors in the code and the behavior is not consistent.
P.S.: I'm really looking forward to you releasing "An English Haunting"
Yes, I've started a new game and everything seems ok. And don't worry for that, it's something that happens to all of us! If this bug happens to someone else they can still finish the game without problems.
Thanks to you for your words about my games and I hope to see more of your work in the future. You have a talent for puzzles and for making very fun games. Keep it up!
This was really fun! :D
I got stuck a bunch of times and peeked into the walkthrough video but also solved a bunch of puzzles on my own.
It really reminds me of the Maniac Mansion Mania games, which is a good thing :-D
On my first playthrough I ended up walking dead, I was afraid this would happen and would've liked to be able to save beforehand but there's only one save slot:
Spoiler
When you're supposed to dry the pants you can just pick a washing machine instead and the tokens are gone. At this point you have to start over.
Thank you very much for playing, Khris!
Spoiler
In theory the game does not have dead ends (except for what happened to Postmodern and which I still don't fully understand...) If you use the ATM again it will return the two tokens you have not used. The character on the other hand will not want to wash the pants twice or dry them if they are not wet.
@AbsurdumCodice Spoiler
I interacted with the washing machine afterwards though, which meant I got an animation again (a bug I believe, since there was nothing inside), and now I'm back at "I need coins" when I interact with the coin box.
I'll replay to this part and try a few things since you can just exit without saving using Alt-X, which only occurred to me after getting stuck :P
Edit: I tried to reproduce the dead end but failed.
I'm sorry you experienced this problem. I have tried all the combinations but I have not been able to replicate the bug.
I also don't find errors in the code.
Spoiler
The item "pants" has a control property of type INT to indicate that it has been washed or dried. The control property starts at 0 and only increments to 1 if the pants have been washed. If it is dried, it increases to 2. The program logic explicitly prevents that pants with property 1 can be used in a washing machine or pants with property 0 or 2 in a dryer. Since I don't know the reason for this inconsistent behavior, I'm afraid I won't be able to solve it.
Very good game, I liked the style and the puzzles were refreshing, congratulations!
And some hilarious moments, for example when the guy wakes up and then the explanations...
The puzzles were interesting and on the right level. I struggled most with

the broken TV, I thought this was a red herring
"Blitzwäsche" will also enlarge my vocabulary
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. :-D
Spoiler
I think all washing machines should have a "Blitzwäsche" option :P
I just played this game and I really enjoyed it. Very puzzle heavy, with puzzles at just the right level. I had a lot of good laughs, enjoyed the animations, sound effects and music. Overall a great experience.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you had a good time with the game
Finally got around to playing this as I catch up on games I missed. The puzzles are great! I feel like I got stuck in almost every room but all the solutions made sense.
Spoiler
When I resorted to the walkthrough and realized I needed to go back to the roof for the grating and cement, I had one of those "No! Of course! How could I forget!" moments that make the game design really shine.
The animations were also great and the dialogue was very funny. I enjoyed the music too.
Great work! :)
Thanks for playing and commenting! I'm glad you liked it. ;-D
I really liked playing this game. Lots of things going on here. Many great details in animations. Loved the guy at the entrance watching you depending on where you are. And when he woke up. (laugh)
Overall a great moment with lots of fun, great graphics, music and animations.
Spoiler
There's just that one puzzle based on outdoor survival skills that I have in my global memory from movies etc. but did not have in this instance because of the scenery of the game. I was expecting to find another (more modern) object to use for the whole coin thing. So there was much "clicking everything on everything everywhere." to finally go "Ah, oh yes." If I was in a forest I would've understand it... I guess. But heh that's just me ! :P
And I love the AGS graffiti! I will follow that inspiration you gave me. I think that it would be fun if every game made with AGS had "AGS" somewhere, even if just as an easter egg, like very, very subtle and hidden; but it exists in the game and the player can find it. (nod)
This was an excellent game all around. The Maniac Mansion style graphics look very nice and are big enough to stand alone as visual clues, the music chosen is atmospheric, the writing and story is funny. And the puzzles. Oh, the puzzles! In my opinion, the puzzles are what elevates this game from a good one to a great one. Well done!
Thanks Rik_Vargard and heltenjon por playing and for the feedback!
Rik_Vargard:
I'm glad you liked the AGS Easter egg idea. The truth is that I was thinking of hiding it again in the next game I make with the engine... But it would be cooler if we all did it :-D
heltenjon:
During development I was afraid that someone might find the puzzles too easy, or on the contrary too frustrating, so I am very happy with the great reception they have had!
Hey
@AbsurdumCodice , one quick coding question. :)
I really like the inventory item cursor getting highlighted when it's over a hotspot. How did you implement this? Did you have separate sprites for each item or do it through script? I'd love to know since I don't like using cross hairs, and this is a great way to get around that. (nod)
There are two separate sprites for each item. When the object is active, the cursor becomes the first sprite associated with the item, but if the mouse is over a hotspot or an inventory item other than itself, the cursor becomes the next sprite. Since sprites have a unique ID, I made the ID of the highlighted sprite the original plus one (for example, if the string sprite is 30, the highlighted string sprite is 31). This way you only have to add or subtract 1 to the sprite associated with the item depending on the situation.
Thanks for the response! I love learning clever little tricks like this. The UI can really make or break the gameplay and this method felt very natural in your game. Much appreciated! :)
You are welcome! I'm glad that my method can be useful in your games :)

Usually it's a blue cup, though.

There should always be a mix, but that is easier said than done. I didn't get stuck this time, but I had the wrong idea many times. :-D I tend to play in a way where I try what I think is the wrong solutions first, to see what responses the game gives, because the chance to see that often disappears after the correct solution is performed. This time I thought I was supposed to

make a fire and guide smoke into the vents in order to set off the fire alarm, but I tried using the fire kit inventory items in another spot first because i was in that location, and hey, it worked.
People (me) often like puzzles with multiple steps, or that items may be used in different ways on several puzzles. You hit the bullseye on both accounts.
Thank you for your words!
Spoiler
In reality, the whole thing with the fire hose was intended to act as a red herring only at the beginning, since throughout the development of the adventure the girl shows (or at least I intended her to show) signs of not wanting to cause problems to others, nor break anything that was not already useless (like the TV lying on the lot or the broken fan on the roof).
