this is a graveyard i drew for the game i'm working on...
i appreciate any criticism, so gimme all you got.

known 'bugs': the awkward perspective, the closest graves are too short, and the coloring/layout ain't that good...

i'll prolly do another one for the game...

Chicky

great background, here's a few things that could be changed.

you should clean up all the loose pixels everywhere, there are a lot of random dots scattered around.

I think the grassy bits need to have more grass and less muddy patches. also try and define the edges more to make them look more crisp.

keep it up and welcome to the community

Mmm... Sorry, I can't see it!  ???
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Peter Thomas

Yeah..... I couldn't see it at first, either.....

But I think my comp is haunted by an evil spirit. When I clicked the link, it just opened up a copy of the EXACT same page, with the same posts, and the same comments, and the same link.

I was like "Double-you-Tee-Eff?" (wtf for the slowpokes) so I clicked on the link AGAIN, and then it said "No you don't! NO ONE SHALL ACCESS ME! I am the immortal non-accesser of doom! By the end of the day, no one shall access ANYTHING EVER AGAIN!"

well - that didn't QUITE happen, but the link did say I didn't have permisison to view it. So I copy and pasted it into the search-bar, and abra-cadabra! it worked.

Anyways - onto the crit:

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! sorry - that's not laughing at the pic, it's laughing at me, because I'm the WORST drawer in the world, and here I am offering crit....

*sigh*

I think it looks good. Except some of the graves seem a bit awkward. Particularly the ones at the back. I know you're using this 'smaller at the back' principle, but they look slightly TOO small. Position-wise, they look only about 3 meters away from the middle row, but size-wise, they look like they should be 8 meters away...

neway - enough of my non-talented, hypocritical crit.

It looks good

It looks quite nice, prowler - There are some things, though:

- As you already pointed out yourself, the perspective and the colours of the graves could use some changes.
- I would also try to get rid of that weird little "flash" thingy in the sky. (A lightning bolt?)
- The grass looks a bit "runny" and very painted on. Towards the bottom of the picture it almost looks as if it's going to start drip down the screen and out on my desk... I would suggest trying to define the single straws of grass more.

And also, a tip as a fellow freewebs-user: You can rename your picture file to a ".txt" before you upload it, and just do an [img] tag as usual.

Another sucky artist giving advice  ;D
I have a feeling that the flashy thing is the moon. I don't think that the moon would look like that, even if it was behind a cloud. Also, the grass near the walls look darker from the rest of the grass, unless it is moss or fungus or something, in which case i think it would look fuzzier. The colours also look kind of odd (gold tombstones  :o), but you mentioned that already. Is there a fire going on in the foreground? I really like the style of your background. How did you make it?

yup it's the moon :P it looked boring when i first drew it, so i smudged it a little , like i usually do when something looks boring :)

thanks for the welcome, i've been browsing the forums for almost a year but i don't post much ..

the grass near the walls looks darker cuz of the color correction i applied to the wall.. unfortunately, the grass was part of the same layer :P

part of the reason why the colors look the way they do, is that it took me a while to decide on the mood i wanted ... the tombstones are gold cuz initially i wanted it to be dawn... not that that would be a good excuse or anything :P

i drew it using psp, learning to use layers and effects on the way...

thanks for the replies everyone!
