hello everybody,

i need sum help with my new character sprite, he needs some hair, and possibly a mouth. im not sure what to do or wether to keep him as he is, newayz i need sum C+C ... please  ;D

*edit* Im pleased with the idle stance but i've still not finished the walk animation,ive now done the body sway but i dont know.

Does anything more need adding?

Sweet Kazz ;D, i love the hand. Ive decided that ur only guna see his mouth when he speakes so then it shows a lot more emotion, i'll post a update soon.

This character has a great, ahhh.. character =)
I love the style too, the face shows a lot of emotion.

The upper torso should swivel a lot to suit the walking animation, which will be hard to do, but will look awesome.  At the moment the upper torso is not pointing to the left as much as the rest of the body either.

can't wait to see more!

im guna do a lot more work on this today, although im meant to start revising for my mock GCSE exams today. Man am i dreading doing those things.

The animation is pretty good!  The body shakes back and forth too much and is a little choppy because of that.

I smoothed it out a little to show you what I mean.

I aligned the frames so that his hips remain in the same spot (horizontally) and the body raises and lowers as he steps.

I didn't add in arm sway because it looks like you might not want his arms to move.  It makes him look as if he's determined and deep in thought ... or headed for a fight!

On frame 3 the left leg's (front) backwards movement  from frame 2 is a little small (as is the right (back) leg in frames 4 to 5) so you might want to increase those a little.

Feel free to use if you want ;)

this sprite is getting better and better....no worries bout stealing my hand...that's why I posted it ;)) Anyways i'd say his legs flip back to fast add a frame and it probably looks even better...

ps. What happened to his thumb in idle pose ? is it supposed to be hidden in his pocket or just hidden behind his palm ? or maybe just cut off ? :))

yeh im currently adding the extra frame, and yeh KaaZ the thumb is meant to be resting in his pocket, u know kinda not all out hands in pocket ( would look too lazy/ slouched) but hand resting on pocket so.

Its meant to look as if he has a little more self respect.

newayz even though i said it was the final, there will be an update soon.

hehe i don't know if you're done QUITE yet... there are only a few things i think should be changed.

1: his pupil should be looking forward more and his nose should be smaller so it looks like he's looking forward and not one eyed

2: the foot on the ground doesn't move back fast enough it's like he's walking in place

3: his arms move with his legs instead of the opposite direction, now that could be what you want but i'd suggest trying it the other way and seeing what happens

there's no way i'm going in there and editing the arms without layers so here's hoping you have this with layers

thanx mrColossal i apreciate the edit, oh and btw i never work with layers, umm should I?

i was contemplating the arm sway for quite a while when i started, i was walking around my room thinking which way my arms swayed ... they swayed with my legs.

I dunno wether i'll change the arms i kinda like them as they are, at the moment im adding the extra frame and trying to sort out the 'masterbation' arm.

Ive now added an extra frame to the legs so there isnt as much flick, ive changed the pupil and the nose.

I used to hate layers ... I remember when Photoshop 3 introduced them I refused to use them.  Then when I did I couldn't believe I ever got along without them!

Give them a shot!  They make it soooo much easier.

The new animation looks good ... but as MrC (I pitty da foo!!) said, the arms should move opposite the legs.  Which would be easy to fix if all the arm animation(s) were on seperate layers ;)

damn those stupid layer,i gave up on them when i realised that bmp's dont store the layer data. ahh well looks like it'll be a long night.

seriously, i really cant do this. i've tried cutting and pasting the top half and putting it on the bottom half later on in the animation but i just cant do it.

I think im guna have to keep the animation as it is, wel unless anyone would have the time to fix the current one. But seriously i wouldnt expect anyone to do that that is just wayy to much.

ahh well thanx for the advice guys, i guess ive learnt my lesson ... allways use layers.

It doesn't seem like his arm is bending in the elbow. Maybe i stared at it for too long.

About that masturbating thingie, it still seems as though he's stroking it ;D.

no worries, the hand is fine, people aren't going to think he's masterbating when his legs are moving and he's advancing across the screen

your best bet it so move on and get the rest of your game done unless the game is Walkcycle Quest cause if it is WE WON!!

nothing wrong with this walkcycle...it is in fact pretty convincing walkcycle with loads of character in it. I can't wait to see his frontview walkcycle!

yeah, don't worry about the masturbating, (compared to the character playing pong in fatman that's nothing =P)
And as long as you work into the plot that the player is actually a robot, the arm swinging is perfect!  

haha, nah, don't worry about it, I didn't notice it untill it was mentioned, and when the characters moving around in the game, it will be even less noticable.
 Just don't burn yourself out perfecting the character, if you're happy with him, move on, otherwise you'll hate him, and hate having to make the game about him =)
