did this one today, took me about 30 mins. He wont feature in part one of the game, but i can tell you that he'll be part of a gang of boys that will feature quite heavily in the later parts. Please let me know what you think and/or any improvements you might have.
Thanks
Dan
Yay!
TLOTLL is NOT DEAD!!! ;)
- His hair looks a bit flat
- The lighter red in the pants is a bit washed out?
- Looks a bit "generic", but if you fix the hair, that might straighten itself out...
- That's about all I can think of now.
- As always, big respect! 8)

Indeed it isnt! yeah the hair needs finishing, as for the colour, i didnt want to go too 'vibrant'. Ill 'finalize' it before it goes in to the game. Keep em coming! ;)
Perhaps the lines on his shirt should ben downward a little (about one pixel) in the middle. Otherwise it looks a bit flat.
I can not WAIT to play this game. The characters are so smooth they almost feel like real people.
Well, I shortned the legs, gave lines to the hair, and adjusted his right arm.

nice edit man, all good changes ;)
well ive altered him slightly after being inspired by evil's edit (thanks again):

sprry, no blinking ths time ;)
I can appreciate that you don't want to just use Evil's edit verbatim but there were a couple of things that I think he improved that it would be a shame not to have.
1. Rounding out the jaw where it meets the neck.
2. Lightening the left shoulder and evening up the colours there.
3. Slanting the right hand side of the shorts so they're not so boxy. [EDIT] Our right.
Great character design!
Steve

I think that is intentional, to show the bulge of the hand in pocket
WOWEEEZZ! :o
did u drw dat????///??/???/? itz meen az tell me how plzzzzz

Mind if I field this one?
1. Open Paint/PS/other graphics editing software
2. Use mouse (while clicking) to arrange pixels in a paticular order (some in the know call it 'drawing')
3. Continue in this manner, rearranging aforementioned pixels into order until satisfied.
This sort of sprite comes after LOTS of practise, I suspect. Y'know, what with it being fantastic & all.
don't post in this forum if you don't have anything helpful to say. (Tardmaster )
Nice sprite dan. theres something wierd with his legs. I can't quite describe i, they are shaded in an odd way. I can't tell just yet. I think maybe giving him some socks would help...
I think the caractors a bit small in relaition to the other caractors youve drawn ( ( i mean the boy)
hahaha his hair looks like mine before I got it cut :D
Very nice sprite I cant wait to see this game.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with the design, Dan, but I just played with the blown up sprite a bit to get this:
I gave him the start of some knees, fixed his neck a bit, moved his right arm in a little, rounded his shorts, and made his pockets look a little more like pockets (to me).
I also did some shading here and there, but nothing major. At any rate, I think it is a great sprite and doesn't 'really' need any tuning at all to be used. Good work, Dan :).

That's because he's only a little boy? lol. I use the main character as a reference for BGs and NPCs, so that things are always in a rough proportion
cheers for the feedback from everybody ;)
(p.s: sorry mods, i was away on holiday when the last few posts were added, so thats why im late to reply)
Damn, this is absolutely sweet! Really love your style. Don't have any suggestions or critics here, just keep up the great work.
I see myself in you DC man. Our styles are sooo alike. I work more with hardcore pixel editing, doing entire BGs in Paint. Which buy the way is a underrated tool for us "built in effect" haters. I've noticed you scan alot, from your drawings but in the end it comes out the same as mine. Or somewhere close. I also love your cartoonish characters. Coloring and perspective are perfect. It's great fun to see good quality on this forum, where most of the members and guests are not even mediocre. You don't want or NEED critisism from anyone here. Please finish the TLOTLL, don't let it die in your hands.

Thanks for the feedback, and dont worry it wont die off. I have to tell you though, none of the art you've seen for my game so far has been scanned, its just created from scratch using photoshop.
I have nothing against MS paint, but it's just that having used both, i find that anything paint can do, photoshop can do. People have this illusion that paint style graphics cant be acheived in photoshop, when with a few simple tweaks to the settings they can. Once you know that, its difficult to see what advantage paint can offer, particularly with some of the tools within photoshop.
I myself never use paint. You can setup your pallettes however you like in Photoshop and you get so many more tools and the level of undo's out ways everything in paint. I have worked on a couple fan game projects and don't know anyone that uses paint. It's so nice to just create a new layer ontop of your sprite and move the things you need for your next frame. The only time I use paint is when I am at work and need to draw something out quick. I can't install photoshop here.
I use Pro Motion for all my needs. I love it so.
