Title: 2 Backgrounds + 1 pic
Post by: SuperCarott on Sun 25/07/2004 02:24:19
Ok, so here are my latest *cough* masterpieces :)

So, this is supposed to be a giant stone head in a cave.

A bridge made out of some kind of metal.Ã,  (dont ask :) )

Wonder if anyone will find this picture funny:

(yeah, in my spare time i make box designs for my games that not even exist yet)

Update[2004/July/25]:
Ok, so here's the box front cover for those who wanted to read whats written on it:

And here are a few character samples:
1. A kind of bug, works as a bounty hunter
2. Main character, Glunth
3. Bridge Guard - probably needs a major redesign
4. Your soon to be sidekick
5. Gangsters (Red, Dwarf, Brute)
(note: only a few of Glunth's animation is done yet)

Once again,
what you think?

Looks like Gobliiins to me. The backgrounds look ok. The box is questionable.

Looks great.
I wanna see characters :(

(The style is pretty cool and the ad is clever.)

both bgs look good but need more depth, try adding more things in the background of the backgrounds.
Also i think the perspective is a bit off on them.

The path looks a smidgen like it goes through the ears of that thing, but a char will fix that.

I have a feeling it does go through the ears. It is questionable whether a character would fit through there, though. The BGs looks nice (I like the 2nd one especially, it looks like it was coloured in), but a bit empty. Add more objects (as Daz suggested). Also, in the 1st BG, it seems kind of odd that there are no walls or ceilings. Perhaps you are going for some kind of endless chasm thing, I don't know, but it looks odd

Yes, the path goes through the ears, and yes the character even fits through but i think i better re-draw that one. :-\

Okay. I'll do that.

Thats the whole point ;)

I think all the things I see are part of your 'style'.  Sometimes things that would be a mistake in other art look good in a particular style.  I think I could enjoy a game with these type of backgrounds.

The box is pretty good, but because of the JPEGifaction, its hard to read the letters.

I'd bet your favourite games are Goblins and Woodruff and The Schnibble of Azimuth  ;)

I think your artwork looks great! I love the characters, especially that red bug. I also like the first screenshot with the road going through the ears of the stone head.

The image with the bridge is less convincing, though. It needs a horizon, IMHO. And that green ooze on the road looks a bit out of place. It looks like you spilt water over your image before scanning it in... Or something :P
