Was hoping for comments in general, but more specific one thing I'm wondering is if they need some voice actor to go "Welcome to... blah blah... from heroic, to darkness, to light and fire... blah blah" or not?
Thanks for listening and possibly posting!
Wow, Nikolas, this is really amazing work! Is that all EWQLSO? (the first demo reel, that is)
I don't think voiceovers would harm (they can narrate and lead through the pace), but as it is, the flow of the music already makes me imagine all sorts of things (for some reason they summon up pictures of Planescape Torment)... maybe it's best not to interrupt the imagination of the audience and allow them to "daydream" along?
Great stuff indeed; I like the second showreel a little better, but that's totally subjective- they're both very good.
Thanks guys! :) I appreciate the nice words!
Greg: Yes it's all EWQLSO (Gold, not Platinum!) and some pianoteq I think. Of course the soprano at some place is a living, breathing, sexy soprano. And the growl is... well... a sfx! ;D
Ghost: I see your point. It just feels like a tiny bit of extra work, so it also feels that it's an extra step, thus a bit more impressive maybe. Of course this line of thinking seems also idiotic! Oh well...
Dont put any voices on it!
Ive heard showreels with voice on before and I feel it just ruins it.
Gotta say I really like the music!
2 nice showreels that would for sure make me hire you! :).
And maybe I even will one day ;) hehe.
Thanks Peder!
so it's no voices for most of you, huh? Good to know really, since I was almost ready to hire someone and pay them for the job...
Thanks all! :)
Thomas Regin has a nice demoreel with a good implementation of voice. I thought it was very professional.
Wow Nikolas, what did you use to make these?
nihilyst: Thomas is pretty much the reason I'm asking for opinions on this. Although he had some "negative" comments exactly on the voice acting (not the quality of her voice acting, but the fact it was there) he did mention that all publishers said nothing, but enjoyed the "guidelines" to where the music was going.
Meowster: I used Cubase SL3, EWQL Symphonic orchestra and choir, drums from DFH Superior, Bass from Geofkhans bass (Manybass), pianoteq and another few instrument. All the tracks were made over the years for various games and other media and I compiled them together to fit each other! :)
Thanks for the nice words!
