Hey all, I've nearly completed a room and I need your feedback.

I think the texture don't really work well with it but they are ok. C&C = good. :P

Minimi

hmm... I kept looking at the drawer and it just is impossible shape. It's sticked to the wall...and I know you want to give it some wacky shape, but that is just impossible here.

Also the texture really doesn't fit with the bed. The str8 lines are awfull.

Apart from that, I think you did I pretty job. I like your doors ;)

Thanks for your reply Minimi, i'm working on it some more now and i'll upload a new pic soon.

My upcoming game will feature the characters from my sig (Models created by Mdickie from Mdickie.com and edited by me).

Here is a version without the textures. How is this? Oh and I think I fixed the shape of the wardrobe, It now slots into the wall (Like it was supposed to do before but I forgot about a couple of lines).

That second version is 122 times better, Raven. The colors are much more appealing and I like the shading! The original was way too bland.
The torn wallpaper is kinda strange. Unless it's part of the story, I don't see how the wallpaper could've gotten torn in that one spot way up there compared to a lower spot.

LGM

Much much much much (etc.) better. Pre-Fab textures often look awful in drawings.

Everything looks pretty cool.. But the perspective of the cabinet is off. We shouldn't be able to see so much of the top of it.

Other than that, nice work.. THe wallpaper peeling does look odd.. But that's just a little touch-up work job..

Also, the black lines just don't look right.. Try making the lines blend in with the corner. Just use a darker shade of the wall color.

Also, try using 1.50 or so of a Grain filter on the carpet and walls.. It does wonders.
You. Me. Denny's.

Thanks for the comments guys!

heh, the reason the bricks looks odd is because I copied it from one of my other rooms just as a test. I'll see if I can fix the Wardrobe/Cabinet or whatever it's supposed to be...:P

I've got a feeling the characters are gonna look weirdly scaled when I put them in the room so i'm probably gonna have to make things bigger/smaller.

Ishmael

Very nice, although the cabinet, which was mentioned... And in the first one the floor texture could have been aligned with the perspective... that looks like it goes wider towards the door... :P But the newer one is very good ;)
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

i've gotta fix the bed...the character is tiny compared to it...lol

Ok, I guess this is the final one until I add more objects. I put the character in there just to show you. (He looks ALOT better in the actual game, too bad I couldn't get a proper picture).

jason

Lookin' good. It's a little empty right now but I know that you're already planning to add more objects. You could try adding a poster or picture on the wall.

Pessi

In addition to what everyone else has said, I think you could decide whether you want to go with loose or rigid style (door VS cabinet).

The door's shape is obviously reminiscent of the wacky shapes in DOTT, but the cabinet and the walls look like those in older Sierra games. I think you should pick either style and let it show in all objects in the game. Otherwise the style will be a bit controversial.

It's often good to lay down all the objects in the preliminary sketch of the scene, in my opinion. You will get the overall look right at the beginning so you won't end up with a too big room with too few objects. Just an example! ;)

But all in all you've done great job on it. It'll work great on an adventure game, no player will be as nitpicky as me! :)

I'll probably try to make it more wackier, cos the unwacky games are always amazingly detailed :P and I don't work that way sadly...

Note: I took down the other room pics. Trying to keep the site tidy. :P
