Here are two little RPG characters I've been futzing with. Art has never really been my thing but I think I've found a style I am happy with. Any critiques are appreciated!
Nice Dave. They look like SNES sprites or something. The guy shooting his gun reminds me of Flashback a lot, smooth animation and relatively low-detail/small sprite.
An action game in this style would be incredible.
Is that a Father with Bible-Fighting action?!?! I love it!
"Feel the Holy Wrath of the Holy Bible, zombie!"
It is a nice style and you should keep it up. Perhaps, if anything I'd move the Father's spare hand down a bit, when the Bible(?) is firing. Just to add to the animaiton.
Nice stances, btw.

Heh. More like: "The power of Christ compells me to kick your ass!"
Interesting idea, Scummy. I tried moving the arm down. Not sure if I like it better:

How about making the bible-laser knockback faster? I mean, he leans forward, blasts, and leans backwards again. SURELY the bible is more powerful than that?
If you catch my drift.
- The legs seem to slide into position rather than move naturally (perhaps one foot should stay on the ground, and the other move; on the in-between frames the latter should be slightly off the ground)
- The top guy's torso looks like made of sliding pixel blocks - it doesn't move like a physical object, even less like a human torso (it should move much less, and it's length must be preserved, it should bend rather than stretch)
- The bottom guy's legs become thinner when he stands up
Advice:
- Use less stretch/move tools, and rather redraw by hand
- Start with keyframes. 3 keyframes should convey this movement comfortably. Don't overdo the number of in-betweens, it will only make the animation look less natural.

I removed some of the inbetween frames and - yes! He moves much smoother!
I'll try incorporating some of your other suggestions, Seaduck. Thanks.
And another. Just for kicks.

Eat bible, sinners!
The proportions are a little off, but I think that gives it a more unique look.
Oh, and I think the father's eyebrows shouldn't toggle on and off... looks a bit weird.
