One of my new games im working on is Lego Adventure, and here is a test screenshot of it. I want to ask you if you like this style?

Duzz

looks pretty cool, but it would be much cooler if you could use photo's from a digital camera or something, and build the sets out of lego, but that might not be possible for you...

I totally agree with Duzz. Even the fact that the image looks cool!

I think you could achieve an even better look for the image without making any dramatic changes to the way you work, by rendering them with a Global Illumination renderer. I think it would have a real nice effect on it. It would look almost photorealistic, but still you could create a distinct world for the game that might not be equally well possible with photographs.

Which program are you using? I know 3D Studio Max has the renderer in the versions 5 and 6. I really recommend checking the Global Illumination out. It's available for other softwares as plug-ins as well, if it's not already there.

Wouldn't it be easier to use separate objects for the wall instead of a texture map? I think it would be faster and you'd get more accurate edges for the blocks. From the little I've worked with 3D, I learned that texture maps can become a serious drag!

Minimi

Yes I know, about the texture map. I think I'm going to just use blocks instead... though that takes much more time, and on my slow computer its not a good idea. I've made everything with CorelBryce5.

Nacho

Wanna criticism??? Finish one project before starting another.  ;D
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Xackery

Aye, man get a little shoe box, attach your camera to a side hole, get a overhead lamp above it for static lighting, and move around legos inside and do still shots..

something like..

Paranoia

the character looks really cool!, the board under him needs to be a little bit smaller, at the moment he wouldn't click onto it
if you could build the scenes out of lego it'll look brilliant, and very different, building a scene brick by brick in 3d would be soul destroying, and like you say would take ages to render, s'spesh when you add shadow maps,
nice one minimi, see i do have a good word to say! :P ;) ;D

Farlander : I'm in the middle of one of my overproductive times, so I'll very soon probably within a week release Sam&Moos, so don't think ill just start projects and then put them aside.

Xackery : Thanks! Although I do not have a digitalcamera :( . I do make my scenes in lego, and then rebuild them in 3D.

Paranoia : Thanks alot. Can you even imagine... every single block, all give them another texture-colour, aww... I'll just do it like this. Though there will lye some single blocks here and there in the world.

Nacho

It is an advise that generally works... Productive times (or overproductive times, as you said) can finish soon, so, my advise is to concentrate in only one (I´ve seen you page, you are producing undeniable, time trapped, albino virus, sam and Moods and Lego Story...)

But it is your time, and you can do with it whatever you like.

Sorry if I been rude that past days.

Cheers,

Farlander.

Haddas

His head looks quite compressed and I've never seen the background green to the yellow "buttons" on which the flatheaded legoman is standing. But then again, all i do is totally crap, so i'd better just shut the **** up

12431 at school

I like it, but the head is to big, and the torso's to long.
and maybe the copyright guys will kill you. mowahahahaha!

shit! ... yes! i never thought about the copyright thing! change the name quick minimi!

*mumbles* sorry to minimi.....no group hugs tho! unless your paying for the tickets! :P :D

Minimi

I know about the copyright, and before I started I mailed Lego, about it, and they said it was ok, as long as it's freeware, and I'm not asking money for it. As for paranoia, I can't change the name, because then I wouldn't credit Lego for it. So this is just going to be a fun, freeware project, and most of all, to learn some new techniques to use with AGS.

to farlander : I should really change some things on my website, cause I kinda cancelled Undeniable. Not in the way, of putting the project away.. but I shortn't the story, from 14 chapters to 4 chapters. and It's going to be a freeware game, cause I figured I wouldn't sell it anyway.

Then you just call the whole project WEGOS! =P

(What I really think Farlander is trying to stress is to not ANNOUNCE you're doing mutliple projects. Only announce ones you're planning on releasing some time in the near future and are actively working on. I would have an area on your webspace called something in the midst of "Project Ideas\Suggestions" and dedicate it to topics that are still "on the story board". You seem a little too super-natural with a bazillion projects "In production!" yet being only one person.)
