doodled this on paper today, removed the lines from the paper.. now, could anyone perhaps tidy it up, do some edit to make it better or even do a vector version or something :)
I think i'd like it to stay black and white.. i'll post anything i do
Name is Plant Games (plant is a college nickname ¬¬) if you want to play around with some different text.
It's for a short game i'm working on, that might evolve into a series of short games
Thanks
This is how I'd handle this logo, although I must say, I really am not very good with them:

Nothing's finished, just to give you an idea. The font may be too strict for this type of deal.
well, i made this, it's too much of a tree, than a plant, and it probably uses too many colours, 42 i think not including the background colour

For a logo it's way too complicated...try to minimize the colours and make the shapes really simple.
Helm's attempt is decent, but the whole style is a bit lame - no offense - I'd like to see some sharper style, more interesting shapes.
It's hard, undoubtedly.

Just for the sake of brainstorming. Did a little photo chopping, then filtered the living daylights out of it. It could use some more clean up to sharpen, and maybe anti-aliasing, but you can see where it's going.
I think the problem is that Plant by itself is an exceptionally boring name, with boring associations.
If you really want to keep Plant in there, you could try:
Instant Games
Nuclear + Plant + Studios
Trans Inc
Digital
Purple
None of these are great, but they conjure up a unique brand image.
Lol. Transplant games. Good one Steve ::)
How 'bout MAN-EATING PLANT!

Transplant games.Ã,Â
turning your logo into a frankenstein like creature, much like Robot Chicken (fantastic show) could make a pretty good logo.

I see your point, for everyone else it may have boring associations, but for my college friends, who i am making it with / for, they have another connotation for the word plant ;o
perhaps if it is an issue, i can just change the logo screen for college and general release :P
also, plant games was used in little VB games we made it computing, so it's kinda stuck in college, but outside (ie on these forums) anything else can be used :p
hi, i scanned this one in, the face has to be changed.

You could silhouette(sp) it :).

I took the advantage of modifying the picture:
Original in 256 Col. (http://www.simnet.is/elinnils52/ags/ls-live-bud-3x.gif)
Original in 256 Col. in 640 x 480 Res. (http://www.simnet.is/elinnils52/ags/ls-live-bud-3x_640x480.gif)
Original in 256 Col. in 320 x 200 Res. (http://www.simnet.is/elinnils52/ags/ls-live-bud-3x_320x200.gif)
Original in 256 Col. in 640 x 480 Res. With text (nothing fancy) (http://www.simnet.is/elinnils52/ags/ls-live-bud-3x_640x480_text.gif)
Well, this is just an idea of what you can do!
I own a print shop and can attest to the fact that the multi color designs are pricey to reproduce. I came up with a limited color (2 colors, halftoned) solution for you.

Illustrator file download. (http://www.penguinx.org/plantgames.ai)
Just something I whipped up in a few minutes. If you want me to expand on it, I can.
Edit: Sorry for the filesize. I posted the JPG at 300dpi in case his friends wanted to print it out at a later date.
I just thougth I'd get some practise in, so yeah :p
I made two sprites based on der.uwe's drawing (which I like a lot :P), one with single pixel lines, one with double pixel lines. In B&W ;)

if you are going to use the edit, then the 2 pixel ne is much better (i find)
making a logo is a big step :) so you should find a good one you are sure will look good on the games and things you are going to create
PS
Yeah, this is the 15 post :)
