Problem

This is a small tune I made for practise. I'm not composing for any games at the moment, so all I do is practising and trying to improve.

This tune is considered to be a background music, maybe for some forest, or anything that has to with nature. It might well work in a fantasy game, at least this is what I had in mind. It's an XM. I zipped it, so it's only 533 kb.

I think that something is missing. I'd like to get some comments, what I could add or improve. And I'm not sure if those bongos are too loud. So maybe I'll upload an improved version later.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

It sounds good and would work just fine as is, but this is what I would do if it were my track:

1.  Add a second layer of deeper bongo drums that come in and play in tandem with the others
2.  Modulate the volume on both so they have almost a fade in and out rythym to them
3.  Vary the string theme

Good stuff, always like to hear an xm.

I really like this piece, it's very atmospheric. I could imagine it being in an RPG when the player explores a forest.

You could make some small modifications, something like ProgZmax suggested, but this tune would work perfectly as it is now. It doesn't even get repetitive.

Man, I really love that part with piano. Excellent job.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'm glad that you like it :)

I'll try to make some changes to the percussion and maybe add some melodic strings  in the background. I'll upload the new version when I'm satisfied with the result.

That's pretty damn good.

It also loops so well I didn't notice I had 'repeat track' on in winamp.

/Hates you. Really should investigate tracker.
