I really liked that, very good in game music, or kind of sad but perservering hero theme.
Only criticism would be that at the end of the solo you go from a pretty tonally harsh chord to the smooth soft chord, and I thought that was kind of jarring.  Other than that, very good.
What did you use to record it? My midis never come out how I want them.

Luvin it...

Its lovely.. Nice and calming.. I think this would fit perfectly at the end of an adventure game when all the action is over and you just see the hero setting off into the distance as the credits roll...

Its good.. Can't really give any advice.. Its almost perfect :P

My suggestions:

- Roll the guitar notes so it's more like a strum rather than a straight immediate chord -- which is unrealistic for a guitar.

- Vary the velocity on the snares with the drums -- so they're more like 'ghost notes'.

- Faster vibrato on the lead guitar, and add whole-step slides.

Anyways, good job!

Here's the new version:
2nd version (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Damien_-_Tune02_V2.mid)

This tune is for practice btw, I won't be using it.

EDIT:
And another practice tune:
Tune2 (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Damien_-_Practice_tune2.mid)

Kewlness.

The first one reminds me of Blackhawk a little. The second version improves on it, though the original stands pretty well on its own.

The second one would work very well for an in-battle or just general action sequence. :)

Damien ... that is really good.  Each version better than the next!

I envision it more as the ending credits of a great adventure game!

Totally feels that way to me.  Like you've just played the most kick-ass AG and get that elation of finishing it and then the credits start to roll ...

Awesome stuff man!

I'm not musically talented (in creating music) but I know what I like.

I like.

Love the new guitar solo in the first piece.. I'm wondering though-- the rolling ghost notes on the snare might be a bit much, especially since they're in almost every measure. They should just appear occasionally, so add variation.

The newest tune is great. Can't think of anything to change at the moment.

Tune3 V2 (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Damien_-_Practice_tune3V2.mid)

Here's the second version of the rock midi with added solo.
I don't like this one very much.

I'm gonna be totally honest with you...the first tune is pretty good.  I didn't notice a difference between the first two versions but I also didn't listen to the whole thing.  In the third version I think you totally destroyed it.  I do not like the second tune at all...I feel like you are trying to push the limits of what kind of music you can make with this software and it really shows...anyway keep up the hard work.

Ok, so making the snare roll effect was a bad idea, so I removed it:

Here's another tune I'm working on:
Tune4 (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Damien_-_tune4.mid)

What do you think/sugest?

Any critisism on it anyone?

They were all nicely done, but not very original. I thought I could swear that I had heard them all before, but i couldn't place them. Now I'll go and think about it all the time until I've figured it out. I hate when that happens.. ;D

You're pretty good though.. Keep it up.

More drum variance and fills, please! Put in a few tom flams here and there, too. :)

Synthetique:
I don't know, they don't remind me of anything. Maybe they have similar chords or rythm like the songs they remind you of.

Geoffkhan:
I play my guitar very often, and when I come up with something good, I write it down in guitar pro.
The percussions are the second thing I make in my tunes, and later when I add other instruments and stuff, I don't feel like changing them, that's why they're so repetitive.
But I will fix them. Soon.

My friend got himselfÃ, a bass guitar, and he came up with a simple bassline, then I added chords, little improvised solo and this song was born:

Here's a midi I've been working on today:

Any ideas on how to improve it or critics are welcome.

Nice feel. Kinda laidback. Drums get old after a while, though. Maybe make a better hihat groove and cleaner drums -- less echo-ey 80's.

You mean the mp3 one? Cause that was made in about 20 minutes, the percs were kind of quickly aranged in Fruity Loops, so yeah they suck.
The song's really not my style, it was made for fun, but I'd like to "upgrade" it to sound better, and maybe even make lyrics for it.
