Title: A tiny character!
Post by: gameboy on Mon 10/04/2006 15:30:11
Well, recently I thought that I should once finish my god-damn game. But then I accidentally had an idea of making the game a little bit longer (god-damn me!), which means for me more work, and shifts the release date a little bit later.
So - I just drew another character. And since he's supposed to be in the far corner of the room, he's damn small! (goddamn me and my BG that needs character scaling!)
I haven't really drawen any characters THAT small, so he looks kinda... Dunno.
It's here:

Is this supposed to be an adult character, or a child?Ã,  If it's an adult, the proportions are off--he's only about 4 heads tall--and unless he's wearing baggy pants (with the crotch really low), his legs are far too short.Ã,
I think it's a good start, though ^_^

I did a quick edit on this for you.

1.  Shortened head one pixel.
2.  Lengthened legs by one pixel.
3.  Made the shades slightly higher contrast.
4.  Adjusted shape of legs.

My best guess is the sprite is that of a child (Not made by one ;) just about a child)
also the baggy pants... Indicates child. However the tucked in shirt and the leather jacket...
could swing it the other way.

Well if hes going to just stay there, kewl I think he's fine after you edit the legs  ;)
IMO gameboy if this is more of a static character theres only so much one can do with pixel pushing... he looks fine to me. My only concern is if hes a youngster hes more than likely
going to be leaning against the wall and not standing, and that his shirt as mentioned above will probably be hanging out.

BTW: Smaller version of your punk char, I saw awhile ago ???

Progz doesnt dissapoint, and we posted the same time.

Thanks for all the replies.
Actually he's not supposed to be a child, he's an... er.. adult.
Well, now by all your help, I've made him like that:

*made the contrast of shading higher
*made his legs taller
*changed his head
*no more baggy pants :)

I think Gameboy's paintover pretty much fleshes out the potential of this sprite, looks good. :)
