Mouth for war

Hi i just wanted to know what you think about this walkcycle i made. I have already made the changes so he bounces up and down a little when he walks so you don't have to point that out hehe :D

Well, I think the first step will be to make is upper body bounce up and down while he moves.

hehe thanks...i wanted a Hoagie kind of character but a little tougher :D

Haha, I like this character, I think that it would be ideal if it was in a 'Trainee-rapper' school or something if you know what I mean.

well I'm a headbanger so rap is out of the question hehe...

Steel Drummer

Looks like he's running. Make his leg movements less 'dynamic', and more relaxed.
I'm composing the music for this game:

Also his body should turn slightly as he walks. It doesn't have to move much, but it wouldn't stay completely still like that, it would turn slightly left/right with his arms. Aside from that, the up-down bit...and the shading on his legs could probably use some work.

Nice walkcycle though.

You should just load the image into the forum page. So we don't have to link out again.
Heres the image @ 2x

Your off to a good start. (The hardest part is actually starting the animation)

My Crit/ Advice:

SteelDrummer and TheVintageDemon have valid points, take the advice.

*The body is resting on the legs, meaning that it should be moving and displacing weight as he is walking.
Remember that not only will his body move but all the bells and whistles meaning his chain around his neck.
*The cycle looks ok however you need to slow it down.
*I think the arms don't swing correctly in accordance to the characters legs.
*His head should bop with the body (which is also not moving at the moment)
*The feet reduce about 30% in size when they at there farthest back position.
*The studs in his glove disappear at the farthest right position.
*It sort of looks like cut and paste animation at the characters but.
*Also try and use at least three shades of a color on any part of the character. Meaning A base a hi light and a shadow.  (But its fine like it is now since more colors will complicate the animation)
*Add more frames. The cycle is a little jerky.
*If the picture on his shirt is suppose to be in the middle it's not. Move it up a little to the right.

One last thing, don't be afraid to look at reference. Look at Hoagies walk cycle etc.

Work on these issues and post us an update.

Keep up the good work,

Good Luck!

I'm not sure if that is supposed to be an image on the shirt or a stain.... Good start on the walk cycle!

I'm not sure why TVLand insists on quoting the post directly before him every time he posts...

Perhaps you could work on the structure of his arms just a bit more. As it is now his wrist is about the same size as where his arm connects to his body. And maybe his arms should be bent just slightly at his elbow. Well...actually it seems like you have done that...it's just harder to tell with the way his arms are built right now.

Off topic: Don't forget your shananagins (?) Steel Drummer. Everyone has their own, including myself, while VD may have a bit more...

On topic: Is this your first walkcycle? If so, then I congratulate you. Its a very good first attempt (if it is a first attempt.)

I have nothing to suggest, Afflict has said everything you need to know.

Good luck!

Very nice! But, he's fat, and fat generally moves!!! So does the head. I think you can nail it, the arm and leg movements are really well done :)
